I bought these welly socks in the classic green to match my son's classic Hunter wellies, and for me in black to go under my black ones. They arrived in a nice black box with the Hunter logo-ing and a see-through "window" so you can view the socks through the box, and they looked so nice that I thought they would actually make a lovely present / stocking filler.
The sizing of the welly socks is a bit confusing from some retailers, as they come in XXS XS S M L XL and you will need to consult a size chart (or the box!) to figure out what this means for you - e.g. my son's are XXS which is kids size 7-9, mine are M (which is adult 3-5 UK). The hunter website itself is great for help with sizing, as they have charts for all their products.
I find them true to size, and as long as you buy the right ones for your actual wellies, they are a great fit inside them and fold over the top perfectly and snugly to display the Hunter logo. Adding the socks does make your wellies tighter, so this is worth considering if you are trying to decide whether they will fit under your Hunter wellies, or indeed what size wellies to buy (for kids I often buy a size up of the wellies if using these liners, but for my own I have a little bit of room anyway so they fit fine under my usual size 4. They do make it harder to get the wellies off though, so it may be worth investing in a boot remover (or being prepared for a bit of ungainly yanking!)
The quality of the socks is good, they are a nice thick fleece, well shaped to fit comfortable and snugly, and I have washed them loads with no bobbling. They also dry fast, which is useful if they get wet and you need to wear them again quickly. They add a nice fashionable touch to the already great Hunter wellies, and the fact that so many colours are available means you can "style" your combination of socks and wellies to suit you.
Overall, a good quality product in nice packaging that is consistent with what I expect from Hunter.
I got a pair of Hunter Wellies a few weeks ago. They were meant to be a Christmas present but I convinced my mum I needed them before that because of all the snow. They are the best wellies I have ever had but I did find a little problem with them, wearing regular socks with them just did not work. My feet got quite cold in the wellies and so I decided to buy a pair of purpose built so to say, Hunter Fleece Welly Socks.
Hunter have a very long standing good tradition in welly making. According to their literature, the company was founded in 1856 by Mr Henry Lee Norris, an American entrepreneur who landed on Scottish soil in search of a home for his boot making company. During the wars their mills ran day and night to produce a sturdy boot suitable for the conditions in flooded trenches, consequently, the Hunter boot gained a trusted reputation. So we know about the wellies but what about the socks?
The socks are long and come nearly all the way up to your knees so that they fit inside the wellies perfectly. At the top of the socks they have a fold over section which folds over the top of your boot to keep the socks in place. I find that they really do keep the socks in place and they never fall down which can be quite annoying with regular long socks. On this fold down portion the Hunter logo is sewn onto the sock so you can still tell that you are wearing Hunter wellies/socks when you are wearing this product.
There are so many different solours and designs to choose from when it comes to these fleece socks. If you wanted to you could probably coordinate your whole outfit to go with the socks. The main part of all the socks are black, it is the top fold down portion that is a different colour. A quick look on their website will show you a whole spectrum of colours, from all different shades of pink, purple, and blue to animal print and also furry fleece socks too. A regular pair will cost £16 whereas the furry ones will cost £29. Yes, quite expensive but then the are a name brand and will look good with your wellies and are very well made so will last you quite a long time.
The socks are amazingly warm and comfortable. The fleece really insulates your feet and I found it kept me really warm in the snow. What I also liked though was that they did not make my feet sweaty or uncomfortable which can sometimes be the case with fleece type socks. The socks come in three sizes, M UK 3-5, EU 36-38, L UK 6-8, EU 39-42 and XL UK 9-11. EU 43-45. I found the sizes a little bit off as I was inbetween a medium and a large, I ended up buying the large int he end which are a little bit too big but I think that was better than getting a pair that were too small and so far they have not rubbed my feet which is good news.
