Topshop Icon Tank
Author Name: daisylee3
Advantages: Looks good, comfy, versatile, good quality
Disadvantages: Price will put some people off
I picked this up from Topshop last weekend while stocking up on summer essentials. Although it's a little overpriced at £22, as soon as I saw it I loved it and knew that I would get plenty of wear out of it and in my opinion it was therefore worth every penny! This is a sleeveless top in a 'tank' top style with low cut arm holes and quite a high but scooped neckline. The neckline put me off a little as I prefer scooped neck tops which are low cut, although the neck isn't so high that it looked silly or would be uncomfortable so I bought it anyway and I am glad I did as once on, the top is a perfect fit and the neckline shows a little of my chest which I like.
The design on the top is quite basic but very noticeable and it stands out, and it's a statement kind of top which would be ideal for festivals and concerts to reflect your taste in music and show your appreciation for a specific artist. The one that I picked up has a picture of Rihanna's face on it and there are various other celebrity prints to choose from. I chose Rihanna because she's a total babe and I love her music and the picture of her is stunning. It shows her face, neck and chest and she's wearing dungarees and has her hair in a messy, care-free style. She has a laid back expression on her face and the picture fills most of the top, so it's definitely very eye catching!
The areas on the top which don't have any picture on them are white which makes the print stand out that bit more. I think if the top had a coloured background it would look a little tacky but the white works really well. The arm holes are dipped so you do need to wear a bandeau underneath to avoid any flashing or accidents, and I find that a white lace bandeau works well as it doesn't take the attention away from the print like a coloured bandeau would. I have found with some tops which have low arm holes the top doesn't look right and looks bunched up on the area where the front of the top is, however this fits really well.
This top is available in the usual Topshop sizes - 6, 8, 10, 12. 14, 16. I'm a size 8 and was tempted to get a size ten for the slouchy, oversized look, however I opted for an eight in the end to avoid looking a bit too oversized, lol. The eight fits well, it's not clingy at all and has a relaxed fit but shows off my figure well. The length is mid-thigh on me and I am around 5'3 and a half. I like that it covers my bum and the top of my thighs as this means I can wear it with leggings. The length is a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to wearing it with shorts, but I find that when tucked in it still looks good and Rihanna's face is still visible and not scrunched up or anything.
The top is made from 100 percent cotton and is very soft with a silky kind of feel. It's lightweight so ideal for wearing in summer although it also looks nice layered under a cardigan or blazer. The top is machine washable and washes well and I really like it. I would overall reccomend it and it was well worth £22 due to the quality and the eye-catching, unique print.
