Little black dress from Jane Norman

When it comes to going out dresses, I seem to be drawn to black. I live by the motto that "you can't go wrong with a Little Black Dress" so my wardrobe has a lot of black dresses inside. One of these is the Jane Norman Lace Slash Neck ¾ Sleeve Dress.

***Jane Norman Lace Slash Neck ¾ Sleeve Dress***
The dress is described on the Jane Norman website to be "The ultimate fashion statement, from Jane Norman. Lace is a guaranteed way to bag the vintage glam trend and this stunning slash-neck lace dress adds a sexy edge to this gorgeous look. This sexy floral lace dress is fitted with a figure hugging under-layer with ruching detail to the bust."

The dress is a mini dress made from stretchy material with spaghetti straps and a heart neckline. Over the top of this and attached is a lace slash neck mini dress with ¾ length sleeves.

The dress is made from elastane 10%, nylon 35%, viscose 55%

      ***Availability***
The dress is available from Jane Norman stores and online from www.janenorman.co.uk . It is priced at £40 so is priced slightly higher than dresses than some other high street stores. It is a very simple yet classic little black dress and because it is so versatile it may be a very economical purchase.

The dress is available in UK sizes 6-14.

It is available in five colours which are black, cream, navy, red and coral. I will be reviewing the black dress.

      ***Wearing it***
As soon as I put this dress on I fell in love with it. It is such a simple dress with a vintage feel because of the lace but absolutely stunning and very pretty. The fit of the dress is very flattering to a feminine figure. The underneath section of the dress is made from a stretchy material which fits over curves. The dress shows off a narrow waist very well which not many dresses of this style do they simply hang from the bust down. If like myself you have a larger bust in comparison to the rest of your body this can be very unflattering whereas this dress fits without being tight looking, the lace simply sits well on top of the under section of the dress complimenting your figure.

A disadvantage of this dress is that it is a short mini dress. It probably comes to no more than 10cm below my bottom therefore you are covered but. The dress does not look tacky because the slash neck and lace sleeves do not expose too much flesh on the top half but if you choose to wear with bare legs you will have a lot of leg on show. The dress however is very versatile and looks great with tights. For those less confident about their legs you can also wear this dress with leggings or jeggings which also makes a smart outfit combination.

Size wise I feel this dress is quite generous, especially by Jane Norman standards which are typically small. I would usually purchase a size 6 in most high street stores and Jane Norman an 8 but I purchased this dress in a size 6 and it fit perfectly.

Because of the delicate nature of the dress in particular the lace sleeves you do need to take care when wearing and caring for this dress. I have worn this dress on 7 occasions and it is still in excellent condition but does have a small slightly torn bit of lace on the arm (around 2mm in size). It is very easy to click the dress causing a hole therefore it is advisable to wear this with plain accessories and in particular wear with a bag that will not catch or click the dress which is how I managed to damage my dress.

When washing the dress should only be hand washed and drip dried on a washing line. After 7 washes my dress is still in excellent condition and has not shrunk or lost its original shape. It is also still a very definite black colour and has not faded.

      ***Overall***
This is a gorgeous little black dress which is has a very feminine and pretty look to it with the lace sleeves. The lace gives this a vintage look which is very much on trend. It is a very simple mini dress that looks great with bare legs, tights or leggings making it a very versatile dress and worth the £40 price tag.

The dress washes very well and is a very good quality but because of the delicate lace sleeves you do need to take care and ensure you do not accessorise with items that could click or tear the dress, particularly the lace sleeves.

A very well designed lace dress that looks great and I love it so much I've ordered it in cream.
