Clothes plasters - not just for 'holes'
I discovered these unique items whilst reading one of my favourite bloggers, Cherry Menlove (google her, she's fab!). I think it's something that could have done well on 'Dragon's Den' and love the concept of this simple but effective product.
Background
Clothes plasters are designed and marketed by Jennie Maizels, an artist who is extremely talented. I love the fact that they are unique, pretty and innovative and feel that they are fairly priced to recognise the work and 'intellectual property' that goes into them.
What are they?
Colourful embroidered patches that have heat activated glue on the back of them. You can customise or mend clothes with them. Mainly aimed at children's clothes but adults should be able to share in some of the fun too I think!
How do they work
You just iron the patches over the hole or on to the area you wish to customise on a fabric item. The heat activates the glue and welds onto the clothes. You can stitch on if you wish but they work perfectly well with the iron technique. Just remember to use over the provided piece of greaseproof paper if you're mending a hole so you don't glue the patch to the ironing board too!!
What do they look like ?
You can buy individually, but if you want a set, you can buy in sets of ten (boys or girls designs) and you'll just spend ages adoring the beautiful details in them. In my girl's tin I got a Russian doll, cat's head, dove, heart, fairy, flamingo, star, cupcake and many more. The boy's comes with robot, spaceship, cactus, drum, pirate etc.
Packaging
Not only do you get the ten adorable designs but they come in an amazing striped tin which you can use to store the spare plasters or for other cheerful storage in a child's room. The tin has a hinged lid and striped design and you'll just love all of it, I promise! Mine also came wrapped in tissue paper with a gingham ribbon around it. I love the detail Jennie includes in her thoughtful and leading business.
How much ...
The price seems to be the same everywhere, £9.99 for a tin and you get free postage in the UK if you buy direct from Jennie's website: http://www.jenniemaizels.com/misc/clothes_plasters .php
Where can you buy them?
As mentioned above, either direct from the website or you can click on the site's link to find a local shop which sells them if you want to go and have a look and feel.
Final word
I may have raved about these in this review but I can't fault anything about these clothes plasters. It's not only customising but make do and mend, prolonging the life of children's clothing and let's face it, accidents do happen but these clothes plasters make them happy accidents!
