Advantages: Quality of fabric, cut and design. Value for money
Disadvantages: Takes a while to save up for!
Joseph is a ladieswear brand which offers classy, elegant clothing which will generally not go out of fashion.
Their clothing is mostly smartwear and evening wear - the prices (about £75 for a shirt, £120 for a pair of trousers) mean that the items are mostly worn by the more well-heeled type, but that's not to say that everyone shouldn't take a look at what's there, because actually Joseph is good value.
For example, I have a pair of Joseph trousers which I wear at least once a week (PERFECT wide-leg). I bought them four years ago for £65 in a sale, which means so far they have cost me 31p every time I've worn them. They still look as sharp as they did in the shop, and I will continue to wear them for years to come. Before I owned these, I bought most of my work trousers from Topshop. They only cost £30, but would be worn out after three or four washes.
The best thing is, many of Joseph's items are so classic they remain in the collection from year to year, sometimes updated, and sometimes exactly the same. This means you can save up and buy items safe in the knowledge that co-ordinating pieces will always be available. This summer, I finally bought the Jacket to go with my trousers. It was expensive, but I know it'll be worth it!
Summary: Beautiful clothes you will wear for years.

- 01/11/09 Still wouldn't pay £65 for trousers but I see what you mean :) |

- 30/10/09 I like to calculate how much a thing has cost each use, like you've done with the trousers. Once it's £1 per use, I feel I've got good value. |
