At the end of October, me and my boyfriend decided to visit some of my family in Leicester for the day which resulted in going to the city centre for a meal. Being the shopaholic I am, I couldn't help but check out the huge New Look that we passed, and decided to have a quick look around while we waited for the food to be served, as the restaurant was near-by. I decided to mainly browse the knitwear section due to the weather starting to turn, and also because I am a real cardi and jumper addict, and I came across this.
I thought it was a long, oversized jumper/tunic at first, however it is actually a dress. It caught my attention because it looked so snuggly and warm, as well as looking very in-season and fashionable. The range of colours they had were quite unusual and eye-catching for a knitted dress and I struggled to decide which one to get as I loved them all. In the end I settled on the beige one, and the other colours available are dark brown and pink.
This is designed to be quite slouchy and it has the 'chunky' kind of design to it with ribbed detailing on the chest and sleeve area and also on the two pockets on the front and on the hem. The ribbed detailing isn't really the usual fisherman rib type of detail, more honeycomb which looks very expensive and this dress could definetly pass for a Topshop dress as it is so stylish and looks amazing with any outfit. It's quite long (knee length) so isn't hugely flattering (i'm only 5'3 so it does make me look quite stubby) but due to the length I like wearing it with leggings and a pair of nice boots or simple heels to add a bit of a more glam look to the outfit rather than it making me look like i've rolled out of bed and slung it on.
It also looks nice with skinny jeans, but obviously due to the chunkiness and length it will look silly with a skirt or shorts. The jumper is amazingly soft and comfortable and I don't need to layer it to keep warm - it's nice and thick. The material is 100 percent acrylic which can sometimes feel quite rough and strange but this is nice and soft so I really can't complain, and despite being washed (in the washing machine), it has kept its softness, shape and there has been no bobbling which was my main concern, so it's obviously a very well-made, high quality dress.
The fit as I mentioned above is quite slouchy, but not the type of slouchy that makes me look 'large' - it's more baggy length wise than width wise if that makes sense. It doesn't cling to me but shows my shape off so it doesn't look ridiculously huge. I also like the fact that it's comfy around my bump, it doesn't feel tight or look silly and it's not a maternity top so I think that's a good plus side - it's mutipurpose as I will certainly be wearing this even when i've had my baby as I think even if it does stretch a little around the stomach when i'm heavily pregnant, it will not look silly and will just add to the slouchy design.
I got this in a size 12 due to my current 'state' - pregnancy, as I wanted to ensure that I will be able to wear it even when my bellies alot bigger. I'm only a size 8 and have got quite a small bump and suprisingly this doesn't fit like a tent, it's quite flattering andmy boyfriend reckons I look cute when I wear it lol. The other sizes available are 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and it is also in the plus size range I think.
I paid £22.99 for this dress but it is currently on sale at £16.09 so I think i'm going to get another one! Definetly reccomended.
