As alot of people will know, vintage clothing is really in season at the minute, especially knitted, granny chic jumpers. I love quirky, unusual types of tops and when I saw this in my local Topshop I thought that it was lovely. This jumper is part of Topshop's Edited range, which is a handpicked selection from their new season collections and updated weekly, so it is bang on trend!
This is a knitted jumper with a scooped neck and 3/4 length sleeves that come down to my elbow. I like that the jumper covers the top of my arms as I am quite self concious of them due to scars. On the back of the jumper it has some small pearl button detailing which I was concerned would be irritating on my skin or get caught in my hair, however i've had no issue with this at all and when I wear my hair up I like that the detailing is there as it's discreet but noticeable. The jumper has a gorgeous rose knitted on the front, on the bust area. The rose is very subtle and it really does look like it's bein hand knitted on to the jumper. The rose is pink and red with green stalk detailing. This is a very flimsy and lightweight top considering the price, and although it looks very wintery it is actually best to be worn on chilly summer days as it is lightweight and the material isn't as thick as I expected. Length wise it's just a bit longer than where my waistband is but it's the sort of top that when i'm moving about alot it does show a bit of belly. Because of the style I only wear this with smart looking clothes - skinny jeans, high waisted shorts, a nice bodycon skirt - never leggings! It's too short to be worn with leggings anyway but that would be a fashion disaster and it'd defeat the whole point to this top - it's classy, mature and really smartens up an outfit.
Sizing and Colour Options
This jumper is available in sizes 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16. As mentioned above this is designed to be well fitting, and I don't think it would look right oversized, so i'd reccomend getting your usual size but it's upto you at the end of the day! The only colour available is a creamy white colour which is simplistic and gorgeous, I think it makes the rose on the front stand out more than it would on a coloured background.
Price, Value for Money and Availability
This jumper was on the expensive side at £40 but my boyfriend forked out and bought it for me. I personally wouldn't of bought it out of my own money as it is the sort of jumper that whenever I wear, I think "do I look hideous in this? Is it too granny chic?" But I know deep down it looks fine, I am just a real worry wart and care too much what others think. Value for money wise, I do think it's pretty good as it's such good quality, is very unusual/unique and it's comfy. The jumper can be purchased from your local Topshop or via their website.
Material and Washing It
59% Angora, 37% Nylon, 1% Acrylic, 1% Elastane, 1% Mohair and 1% Wool. The jumper is so soft with a fluffy sort of texture to it, but it's lightweight at the same time so it's not a jumper that's insulating (if that's the right word!). Hand wash only. I wouldn't dare wash this in the washing machine as I have a feeling it'd come apart and/or shrink. It is easy to wash and dries reasonably quickly.
A good quality and unusual granny chic jumper which I reccomend.
