Kookai I would describe as being at the higher end of the high street, very similar to the likes of Oasis, Jane Norman and Warehouse. Kookai actually started in France in 1983 when 3 friends got together and decided to start a clothing chain that explored an unmet niche in the market, "knitwear for teenagers".They wanted to use the most colourful, affordable and original shapes whilst preserving the quality of their goods.Their target market really being girls in the 15-25 age bracket. Obviously as it turns out this was a very lucrative and successful niche as today Kookai has over 100 shops across the world, from Europe to America to Asia. ... Read the complete review

This year Kookai celebrates its 25th anniversary. Kookai has now become a popular brand on the high street as oppose to the snooty posh shop it started out as. Most cities and large shopping centres now have a Kookai shop. I do quite like Kookai but I think some of their clothes are a little hippy like. The prices are also quite steep but the quality is good. The stores are usually well laid out with beautiful displays showing the clothes. The clothes are also on nice hangers making them seem more expensive. The lighting is good and you can tell the overall style is staged to appeal to women in their late 20s/ early 30s. The fitting ... Read the complete review

This shop has become a must visit for me, especially as you do not see it as frequently as other shops like Warehouse and Oasis. I am 27 and have been shopping here for about 8 years now and have always managed to find clothes for all occasions. The clothes are a little more expensive than some others but the quality is excellent and the look is sophisticated. I am also a big fan of the fact that during the sales they actually reduce their stock from the last season instead of buying in items they would never have sold in the first place in order to turn a profit. The items I have from here are also timeless and can easily be worn year after year. I find this shop a ... Read the complete review

This French high-street store has become more and more popular over the last few years, despite their fairly high prices (for the high street). Kookai provides a colourful range of clothes, though most of them are more dressy items such as little strappy tops and elaborately embroidered dresses. They are not particularly useful for walking the dog! The price range ranges from about £25 for a t-shirt to £60-£70 for a dress. It is because of these prices that I don’t shop in Kookai in Britain a lot. If you like Kookai’s clothes, but are not as keen on their prices, I advise you to try to pick some up on a trip to France. In Kookai in France, ... Read the complete review

In France, this shop is fantastic. In England, it sucks. The difference? In France, the prices seem to be 25%-50% lower. How the hell can Kookai justify this??? They seem to have made a rather cynical marketing decision: all British females are prepared to pay extortionate amounts to look cool. Onto the clothes. Yes, they're smart, jazzy and pretty damn funky. Some items are frequently a bit outlandish for my tastes, but I usually come across something that takes my fancy. The quality is considerably better than say Top Shop or Miss Slappers (or should that be Selfridge?) but why should we be forced to pay so much more for cool fashion than our ...
