I recieved this dressing gown as a gift from my parents and thought the pattern looked really cool and that it is very very soft indeed. After having a bath i slipped this on and felt warm and comfy its just long enough to cover what needs to be covered and with the hood you can simple pull it up and feel very cosy and warm. In other dressing gowns when I washed this afterwards they did not seem to have the same softness and would loose it after several washes. However I was suprised as this dressing gownfelt just a soft as it did when I first tried it on, which I am very happy about as I now dont have to worry how long its going to last before its not so comfy. It is in itself quite fluffy however does not make you too hot and keeps you just warm enough. Would recommend to anyone who loves to feel warm and cosy at night.
I'd asked for a hooded dressing gown for Christmas, so was really pleased to find a soft and squidgy parcel under the tree on Christmas morning! Sure enough, my parents had bought me a dressing gown, and it was this spotty one from La Senza.
My first impressions were rather mixed, to be honest- the black, spotted pattern was very bold, and took a bit of getting used to! I couldn't stop thinking of a dalmation whenever I looked at it (not helped by the fact that my Dad started calling me Dalmy when I put it on!). But although it wasn't exactly what I'd have gone for myself, I liked the fact that it was quite funky and different, unlike the plainer dressing gowns I've had in the past. It was also really soft and comfortable, which was exactly what I'd wanted.
This dressing gown is short in design- on me, it finishes just above the knees, but I'm tiny so it would probably be a bit shorter on most people. It has two generously sized pockets at the front, and a cord to tie it around the waist, kept in place by two loops. The hood is also very roomy, which gives the gown an even snugger feel.
Made from 100% polyester, it has that super-soft, fluffy feel to it which you often get with dressing gowns nowadays. I used to have quite a strong, fingernails-down-the-blackboard aversion to this kind of material- there was something about the feel of it against my skin that made me wince. But fortunately I've got used to it now, and can wear it quite happily- it's a really comfortable material, and its fluffy texture makes it quite warm, despite the fact that it feels very thin when you pinch it between your fingers. The material does have that strange tendency you get with polyester to crackle when folded up, reminding you that it's far from natural!
The size I have is small/medium, and I think the robe is only available in this size and large/extra large. This is obviously going to stop the vast majority of people from getting the perfect fit, but with a robe like this, it doesn't matter too much. Fortunately for me, I like to have loose fitting dressing gowns, so the slightly oversized look of this on me doesn't matter at all- there's something cosy about wearing warm clothes that are too big for you!
Unfortunately, the robe doesn't seem particularly well made- after wearing it for just over a week, I've noticed a hole in the seam which I don't think has been caused by any damage on my part. Considering the price (£25 when my parents bought it), I would have expected more, particularly as La Senza is a brand I trust. However, it's now been reduced to just £12.50, which is much better value. At its sale price, it gets my recommendation- it's a warm, comfortable dressing gown with a modern look which certainly stands out from the crowd!
