First things first, in all honesty i am a bit of an odd shape so buying jeans and other trousers has always been a long and often fruitless experience. The only jeans ive ever bought that have looked great and lasted more than six months have been been over a hundred quid, which i dont particularly mind paying every now and again as a treat but it would be nice to know i could get a quality pair of jeans without extending my already extortionate overdraft.
The main thing ive found with jeans is youve got two complete opposite ends of the spectrum and nothing inbetween, as in jeans from high street shops although they are slowly improving are quite poor quality denim, in only average sizes and will have shrunk and be out of shape within a few months the up side being theyve only set you back 30 quid so its not to much of a big deal. Then at the other end of the scale youve got the designer brands where your bum looks brilliant but you cant afford to eat for a week!!
well i think ive finally found a solutuion which is where the brand Lee comes in, their jeans are a really good quality sturdy denim in a large range of sizes with leg length going up to 34 inches and sometimes 36 in womens which if your a lanky long legs like me is great because even if they do shrink a little bit youve got some leeway. The best part though is the price, their jeans range from roughly £50 to £80 depending ussualy on the style, the more expensive pairs being the most in demand fashion at the momment. These were the prices i noticed when i was at the Lee store in carnaby street but obviously after a quick browse over the internet you will find some authentic Lee jeans for about half those prices although only really in the slightly dated styles.
The only thing that could be a problem with Lee jeans is if you are a larger size round the midriff, like a lot of more expensive brands they only go upto about a size 14, the leg length like i said goes really long but if your a larger lady you may have to stick to the high street as they are not interested in your custom!!
Lee also do a range of other clothing, for a reasonable price, you wont find evening wear but if your a casual dresser youll probably like what theyve got to offer. Youll find: vests, body warmers, plain and simple but well made tops and warm jackets for women and plain jumpers, slogan T shirts and lumberjack style jackets for men.
Lee are a well known and reliable name established in 1889 by Henry David Lee, he originally started the company to make reliable work wear, Lee more or less invented dungeress and manufactured loads of jeans for the manual workers of the early 20th century. I feel this is reflected in their jeans of today which you can tell just by looking at them they are good quality.
The Lee store in carnaby street has really friendly staff even though when you walk in it feels a bit pretencious like a lot of London boutique kind of shops. It is quite sparce and spacious and you feel like everyones looking at you but when you are trying things on the staff are really helpful in helping you choose the perfect jeans (probably a commition based job!)Ive checked theyre website and there are about 100 stores in the UK and also theres a store in nearly every other country in the world, as well as this ive also noticed small Lee concessions in department stores like debenhams and selferidges and also Topshop oxford street.
Overall i really would recommend Lee as a brand, Ive had my Lee drainpipe jeans for over 6 months now and i am pleased to say they are currently going strong, i would definatly go back there again, so next time you need some new jeans id say Lee is always a good place to start
