Advantages: comfy hard wearing
Disadvantages: all one style now
Yesterday I went to buy a new pair of Levis. This is a very rare occurrence in the UK for me as, for the past 6 years or so, all my jeans have come from the US either bought by myself or my parents. My shopping trip turned into a trip of frustration and I was left feeling very old at the end of it! All I wanted was a pair of dark blue Levis with a zip front and straight legs. Every single shop only had button fly and boot cut. I don't like button fly as I'm convinced they make my stomach stick out and I don't like boot cut as I feel as though I'm wearing flares (and they let too much of a draft in)! Levis has stopped making a large selection of their jeans as, I presume, they were not selling. This has left me with no choice in the UK of any Levis. Why are Levis forcing everyone to wear the same style of jeans just because it happens to be in fashion at the moment? Would it not have been possible to continue to make even one style of jeans with a zip front and straight legs? I'm sure there are a great many people like me who have been on unsuccessful shopping trips to buy what they considered to be a straight forward purchase. My poor 3 year old comfy Levis will have to support me until my style comes back into fashion again or I can afford another trip to the US! I do have one pair of new Levis from the US which are 550's which are, according to my local Levi shop, totally unheard of in this country!! My last resort is the Levi website which I think do mail order so I may be saved yet. I know I can buy other makes of jeans but I have always worn Levis and I really do live in them! They are really confy, hard wearing and are always a really good fit as long as I buy them in the US where they sell my perfect size. I object to being forced to buy the same type of jeans as everyone else in the High street and made to feel totally out of date at the tender age of 26!! I don't claim to be the height of fashion and I neve
r ever want to be, I just want to have a choice!!

- 04/10/01 Amusing op. Don't feel old tho'! I'm 25 and still in Levi's. Have the Twisted Seam ones - I really like them, especially when colleagues try to pull the seam round to the side!! Thanks again, C. |

- 20/07/01 I love Levis too, and I absolutely live in a pair of 525's I bought last year, but I've lost a little weight since then and they're a bit big in the waist, but Levis have now change the 525's and now they're stretch denim and don't come in the colour I want, It's not fair, I love those jeans. |

- 30/10/00 My Levis from the US are youth size petite! Even then they are a bit big on the waist but perfect on the hips. i wish my body was in better proportion! |
