Up until around my thirtieth birthday I was never a girl who would wear a dress. I had grown up with my Dad telling me I had "footballers" legs and I was never confident enough to wear a dress. When I split up with my husband and was seeing someone new I developed a bit more confidence through my boyfriend at the time and started to wear dresses to go out. Now I cant really imagine going on a night out and not wearing a dress and so when my Auntie sent invites for her 50th party it was the perfect chance to have a look for a new dress. I ended up ordering the Little Mistress embellished one shoulder dress from my littlewoods catalogue to try and this is my review of the dress. The dress is actually quite a change for me as I do seem to be drawn to black dresses as a rule but this one is a coral colour. When I first tried the dress on I kept looking in the mirror and thinking this isn't me at all but everyone who saw me in it said it looked lovely and so for that reason I decided to keep it. The dress is a one shoulder dress which I liked a bit better than the strapless ones that I am always drawn to because that strap allowed me to wear a bra with just one strap which gave me a bit more support than a strapless one and being a girl with big boobs I do need proper support. The strap is a satin material and stayed on my shoulder all night and I didn't have to keep pulling it up or anything. The dress features a ruffling chiffon material to the upper part which I think makes the dress look more impressive and pretty to be honest. I did find that it was best for me personally to use some tit tape to stick the top parts of the upper section to my skin as I am on a diet and in between sizes and I didn't want to end up flashing someone when I bent over. The tape stuck to the dress well and it stayed in place all night. This dress features an embellished section to the front at the middle of the dress and the copper and gold coloured sequins and beads really stand out against the coral colour of the dress and compliment it I think. The embellished section doesn't go all the way around the dress but I think it looks better that it is just on the front to be honest as I think the back of the dress looks better being plain. The style of this dress I would say is a bit of a skater dress in that the skirt part of it flares out and so covers lumps and bumps that you may want to keep hidden nicely. The over skirt part of the dress is a lovely soft chiffon type material whilst the under skirt is a satin material with some net around the bottom of it which serves the purpose of puffing the skirt part out a little which I think adds to the whole look of this dress. I would just say that when you go to the toilet in this dress to make sure you smooth down the net afterwards as sometimes it ends up pointing upwards and makes the dress puff out in the wrong places! I have to say that I felt good in this dress to be honest. I had plenty of compliments at the party and on the night out afterwards and so I think it was a flattering dress. I didn't feel self conscious at all in the dress despite it being quite a "dressy" dress in my opinion. I think it is suited to both nights out but could equally be lovely to wear to a wedding or something like that. The dress cost me £29 in the sale from littlewoods and I think it was worth every penny as I feel good in this dress. It is made from mainly polyester and I was able to wash it in my washing machine but I did choose to pop it in a pillow case to protect it a bit more and it came out great. You need to iron this dress on the reverse but it is pretty easy to care for as a whole I think. Thank you for reading my review!
I recently went to the York Racecourse with work. It was considered a bit of a posh do! All the men in suits and ties, all the women in dresses. I have lots of beautiful dresses in my wardrobe. Many which would have been perfect for this event. But over the past few years I have gained a big 2 stone! And none of my beautiful dresses fit any more. So I had to buy a new dress. I didn't have much money at the time due to huge car bills!! So I bought this dress off of Littlewoods.com which is a catalogue were you don't have to pay it all in one go. It was £60 which I thought wasn't bad for this dress. I think it's gorgeous and is well worth the money. I used the 'Buy now Pay later' scheme. Which is where you get 12 months to pay back the £60 without them adding any money on. When it came, I tried it on straight away and it fit perfect! I bought a size 10. It doesn't have a zip or anything, but the back is elastic. I love the way it's comes out at the bottom. There is a sort of wire going round the bottom of the dress. You can see it in the picture. The only thing I would say bad about this dress is it would be better if the embellished part went all the way round the dress instead of just at the front. I loved the material and think it looks more expensive in real life then in the picture. I wore it all day at the races and it stayed in the same place all day. I wore it with a strapless bra but you don't have to wear a bra at all. A few people even said it was really nice. It says 'hand wash only' but I put it in a normal wash and it was fine. It is made out of Main: 100% Polyester. Lining: 97% Polyester, 3% Elastane. Since I bought my dress I have seen it in many colours. I bought it in Navy. But I've seen it in pink, hot pink, cream, black and beige. It comes in sizes 6 - 16. I have also seen this cheaper in other shops like Asos.com where its £50. I would definitely recommend buying this dress. Its great!!
