“ Brand: Boohoo / Type: Cardigan „
It is not very often that I stray from the likes of new look, H&M, river Island and Next when purchasing clothes but I had heard a lot of good things about boohoo.com and so I decided to have a look on their website and on there I saw and purchased the lola cardigan. I bought the lola cardigan primarily because I always like to wear a black cardigan over my uniform at work as it can get quite cold. The cardigan was selling for £8.00 as I remember and I thought this was a good price and certainly better than I could get in one of my usual preferred shops. The cardigan itself is all black with two large pockets, one on each side. The cardigan doesn't have any buttons to fasten it and is designed to be left open. My first impression of the cardigan when I tried it on was that it was made from a pretty thin material and was clingy on the arms too. It did look okay though and so I decided that I would keep it as I thought the pockets would come in handy for when I was at work. When I wore this cardigan to work I realised that the pockets were more designed for effect rather than functionality. Whenever anything remotely heavy is added to a pocket it makes the cardigan stretch and droop so low that it looks quite silly. At work I also have to carry keys in the morning to open up all of the machines and having these in the pockets has caused the thin material to become holy. In terms of washing the cardigan I just wash it on a normal 40 degree wash with other clothes and so it is not tricky to wash or anything. It has developed some bobbles, particularly on the sleeves in the three months or so that I have owned it though. This cardigan is available in sizes S/M or M/L on the boohoo website and I would say that it is a quite tight fitting cardigan so that is something to be aware of. I personally think that although this cardigan only costs £8.00 you would be better investing in one from somewhere else which is likely to offer better value for money in the long run. Thank you for reading my review!
I tend to feel the cold and prefer to wear cardigans instead of jumpers as they are a bit more practical and versatile. I wanted a plain black cardigan that I could use to wear with all sorts of outfits, and found this one from online retailer Boohoo. You can buy this cardigan from www.boohoo.com, and it is currently reduced to £8.00 from the RRP of £12.00. It is available in sizes S/M or M/L and I bought mine in the black shade. Product description: "Neatly bring together any look or outfit with this form-fitting, figure-hugging jersey fabric cardigan. With a whole host of hot colours to choose from, inject your ensemble with a bit of feist with one of these beauts. Machine washable." The cardigan is fitted but flowing, with an open front and large slanted pockets at the base of the front panels. It has a nice casual feel to it and is very comfortable to wear. It works well with a layered look, and is a simple way to cover up and fight off the chill breeze that is often part of our lovely British summer weather! The sleeves are full length which is nice as it adds that extra bit of warmth without having to wear a heavy outer later. I wear this cardigan with practically anything as it is a classic wardrobe staple and goes well with any outfit. The fact that it is open fronted is nice in some instances, as you can show off a pretty top or dress underneath it but still keep your arms warm. However, there are times when I find it quite annoying. The fronts flap around in the wind as soon as you step outside, and I normally have to wrap my arms around myself to keep the sides together, or I sometimes pin it with a brooch to keep it in place. It would have been nice to have even just one simple button so you could choose whether to leave it open or fasten it depending on what look you want. I have tried wearing this with a fitted waist belt, but this doesn't help to keep the cardigan in place and it still moves around out of position underneath the belt. The cardigan is machine washable and I always wash at 30 degrees which seems to do a fine job of getting it clean. The fabric can show creases sometimes, so if I can be bothered I will make the effort to iron it on a cool setting. Although I've only had this cardigan for a few months I have been wearing it quite a bit, and it has gone through the washing machine once every one or two weeks. It has already started to show some visible signs of wear, and the fabric is bobbling in many places. I am surprised that this has happened so early on and I would have expected it to be more durable. The fabric is made up of 95% viscose, 5% elastene, although it does not feel to me as if it has much of a stretch to it at all. I'm a size 10 and the S/M fits me just fine. I would say that it is best suited for ladies between size 8 - 12. This cardigan is very comfortable to wear and soft against the skin. The fabric is quite light weight and this makes it perfect for summer wear. There is no way it would be warm enough to carry on through to winter, but it's just right for cool summer evenings and I'm continuing to wear it through autumn as well. I'm moving on from wearing it with my dresses and strappy tops, and replacing them with blouses or long sleeved tops for a snug layered feel. All in all, this is a good basic cardigan that looks great to begin with and was a good price. However, I am very disappointed that the quality of the fabric is so poor and that it now has bobbles all over the place. Knowing that it is not hardwearing and probably won't be good to last for much longer, I would say that I would not purchase this cardigan again, and instead I would look for something that would be a better investment and last for more than a few months of wearing.
The first time I ever shopped on Boohoo.com (and it wasn't the best experience) I bought one of these cardigans in navy blue. They were priced at £12 but mine was on special at the time costing only £9.,which I thought was cheap compared to other shops that sell similar cardi's, but they are now priced at £8. They have several colours to choose from including black as shown in the picture above, white, red, navy blue, pink and grey. Sizes ranged from 8 up to 14 at the time, but they have since changed and you can only select from S/M or M/L. I bought size 8 which was a perfect fit for me except on the shoulders. The cardigan was a nice length and the sleeves were not too tight nor too short, but I found that it would always fall off my shoulders which became very annoying. It is like the top half of the cardigan is much bigger than the bottom half. The material is 95% viscose 5% Elastane and is machine washable. I thought the material felt very cheap though and it was quite thin. I wasn't expecting a thick cardigan but the navy blue was a bit see through. There are also two pockets on the cardigan, which are also of thin material and so they are not designed to put anything in them. I don't usually keep things in my pockets thogh, especially with cardigans as it would drag them down, so it didn't bother me. I have owned this cardigan for around a year now and it hasn't started to show signs of wear and tear yet, but that's only because I have actually only worn it a few times. Therefore I cannot comment on what the material is like after several washes. The cardi dropping below my shoulders is too annoying and I have since bought cardigans elsewhere that I wear instead. Besides the low quality of the cardigan It has not put me off Boohoo.com entirely. I have bought clothing from there since which I really like and often wear, but I won't be purchasing a cardigan from there again. You really do get what you pay for!
