A nice item of clothing to have in your wardrobe.

I have recently been stocking up on a few new clothes for work, most of which have been maternity wear, however I have also been on the look out for a couple of cardigans, the temperature in our office goes from one extreme to another in that in the mornings it is quite cold and like an oven in the afternoons so its sometimes handy to wear a short sleeved top with a cardigan over the top. I recently went into my local British Home Stores mainly on the look out for some baby stuff, however I noticed that they had a sale on and my attention was drawn to a rail of Long Sleeved Ribbed Cardigans, they looked ideal for what I wanted for work.

The Long Sleeved Ribbed Cardigan as the name suggests has quite a tight ribbed detail to it, personally I liked this as it meant that the cardigan has a nice fitted shape to it, it is not baggy like a lot of plain cardigans you can buy, obviously I didn't want anything too tightly fitting but I didn't want to look like I was wearing a sack, I never wear my cardigans done up but prefer to just war them as an open jacket over the top of a t shirt of thin top, this was ideal for that as the ribbed material meant it fitted nicely even when undone. Should you wish to wear the cardigan done up it has a v neck shape which does come down quite low, you could not get away with wearing this without a top underneath, I quite like the low V neck shape on this as it makes it a bit more modern and not like a cardigan your nana would wear.

This is a long sleeved cardigan so when I tried it on I wanted to make sure that the sleeves were not going to be too short, personally I prefer to wear short sleeves as I normally end up rolling long sleeves up, however in the winter months I do eventually have to give in and wear long sleeves so it is important they are the right length, not too short so that they are only just long enough for you but not so long that you look like you are wearing someone else's top, I found the sleeves on this cardigan to be just the right length they came down to my wrists nicely without having to be stretched down.

The next important thing for me when trying the Cardigan was going to be the length, I didn't want anything too short as that was just going to look silly yet not being the tallest of people something too long was going to make me look like I was standing in a hole, on me the cardigan comes down to just past my hips, I found this an ideal length for me as it did look too short and it didn't drown me either.

The Cardigan isn't overly detailed, other than the ribbed material there are only a couple of other small details on it, it has 7 small pearly colour buttons going down the front of it, these start sort of in he middle of your chest and go right down to the bottom, the buttons look like they are made from a pearly shell type material, although I'm not too sure exactly what they are. These same style buttons also feature on the sleeves, each sleeve has 3 slightly smaller pearly buttons near the wrist, these do not stand out massively but do give it a little bit of detail without being over the top. The only other detailing on this cardigan is two very small pockets on the front of the cardigan, these are quite low down and towards the bottom of the cardigan, to be honest they are not really big enough to use, you could put a couple of coins in them, but really they are just for decorative purposes, personally I have never used mine, but again they do give the cardigan a little bit of detailing.

I have this cardigan in Grey, mainly because this was one of the only few left in a size 12, however it does actually come in 4 colours, the other three are Black, Stone and Purple, I do quite like the Grey though, it is quite a light shade and so far I have found it t goes with pretty much any colour and also looks good with both my smart black works trousers and my jeans so it really is versatile.

When I purchased my Long Sleeved Ribbed Cardigan it was in the sale and I paid £22.40 for it, however when full price it is sold for £28.00. Personally I think this is a bit on the expensive side and I had wanted something a bit cheaper as I was planning to wear it mainly for work, however I hadn't been able to find anything I liked as much which was why I went with this. Even in the sale I don't think it was overly cheap, however saying that I have been impressed with the quality, although the seam around the neck did some unstitched meaning I had to sew it back up myself, but other than that I have not had any problems with it. I have washed the cardigan a few times since buying it and it has washed very well, the material hasn't bobbled at all, it has kept its colour as well as its shape, it still looks as good as new, this item can be washed on a 30 or 40 degree wash.

The cardigan is made from 40% nylon, 40% viscose and 20% cotton and is a very light weight material, the thinness of the material means you could even wear this during the evening on a summers night if it was a bit cold as it is not bulky and would not make you hot but is just enough to keep you warm. |The thin fabric also makes it perfect for wearing over a variety of tops, I have worn mine over both long sleeved and short sleeved tops and it has felt extremely comfortable over both, the thin material means that over long sleeves it does not feel too bulky but over short sleeves the material feels lovely and soft against your skin.

Overall I would recommend the Long Sleeved Ribbed Cardigan from British Home Stores, it is very versatile being suitable for casual wear or to wear to work, it comes in a variety of colours as well as a variety of sizes ranging from size 8 to 20 so there is something for pretty much everyone, although as this item is in the sale at the moment some sizes in certain colours are limited especially in store, however online they do seems to have a larger range of sizes in all of the colours. The cardigan is of excellent quality and the fabric is lovely and soft as well as being light weight and very comfortable to wear. I purchased a size 12 in this which is my regular size and have to say it fitted very well, the sizing does seems to be accurate with these. I do think that they are a little over priced, however I didn't mind paying as I got a good quality versatile item which I will get a lot of wear out of. For me this is an ideal item to have in your wardrobe and one I would recommend to anyone.
