Advantages: They feel nice and cosy and have a non-slip sole.
Disadvantages: I would think these would fit the smaller foot better than a larger size.
Cosy Marl Ballet Slipper Socks
I don't shop for too many things in Marks and Spencer's but I do like certain things from there. I find it extremely difficult to find any suitable footwear, including slippers but find there is usually something to be found in dear old Marks and Spencer's. I have bought many a pair of slippers from this store and mostly have been very pleased. I also like their underwear department.
A short while ago, my husband was pleased to be awarded a £25 Marks and Spencer voucher for some good deed or other and he very kindly insisted that I use the voucher. I argued a little but, if he was so eager to treat me, then who was I to argue?
I also had a few pounds left on a gift card so was able to enjoy making a few purchases from this store. One thing that I bought and am pleased with is my cosy Marl Ballet Slipper socks.
The same chunky style knit can be purchased as a longer slipper sock, if preferred.
These are really a bit of a cross between slippers and socks, as is usual with slipper socks, but these are a little different in that they are designed as a ballet style shoe, so only cover some of the foot, stopping below the ankles as in ballet pumps. I find this is a nice alternative to my usual slippers socks as sometimes, if too much of my foot is covered when indoors, and the central heating is on, my feet become too hot. With these slipper socks my toes and the soles of my feet are kept wonderfully warm but without becoming overheated. Just so perfectly warm and cosy.
The lace trim edging adds a further feminine touch to these slipper socks, adding to their appeal.
They are ideal to wear as slippers owing to the non-slip sole, but I also find these comfortable to wear in bed on the coldest nights, such as experienced in November and December 2010. I don't usually feel as cold as I did then when some form of socks were worn in bed on several occasions.
Another good thing about these socks for me is that they are nice to wear under Croc type sandals. I often wear Crocs around the home as they are more comfortable for me at times than normal slippers, but of course being plastic and holey, they don't keep the feet particularly warm. However, Crocs paired with these ballet type socks are lovely; comfortable and oh so warm!
I buy slippers in a small or size four. These are one size and fit me perfectly but I don't think they might not fit so nicely on a foot needing over size six perhaps. I think they would be a better buy for more customers if they were sized in small, medium and large, but this is just my opinion.
The Cosy Marl ballet type Slipper Socks are available form Marks and Spencer for the price of £4.00. I feel that is a very reasonable price.
They come in a grey colour (which I have) and a pretty pink. I think now that I have tried the grey and am satisfied with them; I shall now also buy a pair in pink.
I have washed these often as I would with normal socks. They are machine washable. I choose a low and delicate wash. After washing I have pulled them back into shape and allowed them to dry on a clothes airer.
