I'm reviewing the M&S Extra High Impact Sports Bra as of their 2015 collection. This particular bra is available in sizes 32-40 band and in cup sizes B-G. I personally have always relied on M&S sports bras as I find them very supportive for my 34F sized bust. This particular bra is robust, sturdy and fully adjustable.
The colour and style of the bra is quite nice. It's black with luminous spots over the front and edges. On the edges it has a mesh style which allows the material to breathe.
The bra has an underwire along the bottom edge of the bust with the softer cup coming around the top. However, rather than have two pieces of material the cups are set together by a panel along the top which gives extra support and stops bounce.
The straps are wide and soft and provide ample support. I also find that they fit well without needing to be adjusted much. The straps can also be changed so you can wear the bra like a racer back which is how a lot of sports tops are designed nowadays. This is a great aspect for the fashion sense and it doesn't seem to affect how supportive the bra is when the straps are changed.
The fastening at the back is wide with multiple hooks and different band options so you can tighten it to your desire. I find this is helpful after you've had the bra for some time as the material tends to stretch a little and you need a tighter fitting around the band.
The bra is polyester, elastine and polymide mix and is machine washable.
The bra is £25 which is about average now for a sports bra. I'm glad that the price doesn't rise for the larger sizes too. I personally like these bras although I would like the under-wiring to extend around the cup as the lack of wire in the middle can cause your breasts to feel slightly squashed. However, the bra performs really well and is super comfortable and allows me to do all sorts of running and jumping without causing any harm to my breasts and without feeling discomfort when moving.
I would recommend this bra to anyone who enjoys sport and is looking for a well made sports bra.
I try to do a bit of running each week and as I'm not flat chested a decent sports bra is an absolute must! Traditionally I would have opted for Shockabsorber Run Bra ( specially designed for max support during running) but its really expensive, around 35-40 pounds.
I had been looking for a high street alternative and whilst loads of shops do sports bra most are too flimsey to rely on for high impact exercise!
However I have to say this bra by M&S ticks all the boxes! The bra itself is non underwired and non padded.
The cups are very firm and there is a strip of breathable material under the neck between the cups. The straps are extra wide , soft yet strong and dont cut into your shoulders. There is a double fastening, normal bra hooks at your back and also a buckle fastening between back and shoulders . The fabric is 83% polyamide and is soft yet firm. There is a wide panel underneath the cups . The bra is comfortable yet gives you the feeling of Bengali very secure. I have ran in this bra a number of times and there is minimal bounce, and no chaffing I would honestly put it on a par with the Shockabsorber .
In terms of colour there are two options, white or grey. I went for the grey as I find white sports bras don't take too long to become off white!! I am pleased with my choice , this bra has been through the washing machine on a number of occasions with no colour fade. In terms of looks this bra is spot on,its not exactly pretty but its inoffensive. This retails at around 20 pounds which is excellent value for money for a support bra . I highly recommend it.
The "bounce" was painful and made me feel like the world was staring at me. Then I brought this bra. It is not the most comfortable bra in the world, as the underwire does dig in a little, but it certainly holds them in place and allows me to exercise without "bounce" and pain.
Finally a sports bra that can cope with a G cup! Before I had this bra I was embarassed to participate in sport or even go to the gym. The "bounce" was painful and made me feel like the world was staring at me. Then I brought this bra. It is not the most comfortable bra in the world, as the underwire does dig in a little, but it certainly holds them in place and allows me to exercise without "bounce" and pain. The price is very reasonable and the quality of the bra is impressive. It does very well on my handwash cycle on the the washing machine and has retained it's shape and support ability after several months wear. The underwire can be a little uncomfortable if the bra is worn for several hours, but as I tend to wear it only when I exercise and for no longer than 2 hours at a time it is well worth it. I think larger breasted ladies should try this bra.
I bought my sports bra seven months ago from Marks & Spencer online. I like some of their clothes and as I was shopping around I found this sports bra on half price offer and I bought it. I used to wear a Triumph sports bra previously but after trying this one I replaced it immediately.
About sport bras
These are specially tailored bras that provide strong support for the breasts while exercising. There are extra high impact, high impact and medium impact sport bras however each manufacturer gives them fantasy names. The matter is that the sport bra should be selected to the sports you are doing. I bought myself an extra high impact sports bra because I use it to jogging. When I belly danced I used a normal bra which let my breasts move according to the music.
Why is it important to wear a sports bra when doing sports? Well, those women who have large breasts may find painful and uncomfortable to do exercises without bra or wearing their normal bra because the high impact movements cause damage to the ligaments of the chest. Sports bras have strong compression effect on breasts and make sports enjoyable.
Marks & Spencer
I won't tell the story of the company because you can find it on Internet (www.marksandspencer.com) if you are really interested. What I want tell about the company is that they sell a medium range of sportswear both for women and men. As the company is not specialised on sportswear some of their products are fantastic while the others just medium or poor. I like the idea of wearing cotton products instead of artificial materials and I think M&S is quite good in this area. Occasionally they have very nice offers. I prefer shopping online which means that I have to pay 3.5 pounds P&P but I can get also a cashback. I have another reason I shop online: unlike most women I don't like shopping for clothes and shoes. Online shopping was invented for me.
My extra high impact non-wired racerback sports bra
I have a 38 D sports bra in white. In front the material of the bra is thick it is not transparent at all. The back of the bra is made of mesh looking material which is very nicely elastic. It is quite tricky to put it on and get it down especially after your bra becomes wet from the sweat. The racerback makes it hard to put on and off but it is made for the better support so I am used to it by now. I think it can be worn as an outerwear but I insist to my T-shirt. I'm not particularly shy but I feel better hiding my breasts under a T-shirt. I have to leave something for men's imagination too...
As I mentioned previously I tried other brand too and I found that M&S extra high impact sports bra provides the necessary support while I am jogging. The size of the bra is in harmony with the general sizing, I mean I wear same size from normal bras as well. I was thinking about buying a smaller one just to get really extra support but the smaller size wasn't available with D cup and I gave this a go. It fits me very well.
M&S mentions that these sports bras were worn by GB Olympic pentathletes. They are really good and I am completely satisfied with them.
This sports bra gives essential support even for larger breasts. It is designed for high impact sports like jogging. It has adjustable wide straps which made wearing them comfortable. The hook fastening is safe and easy to use (2 hooks). The bra is non wired and comfortable to wear. It is machine washable and suitable for tumble dry but I never used it in my tumble drier.
It is not easy to put it on and take it off due to the racerback but you can get used to it after a few wears.
The composition of the bra is 56% polyester, 33% polyamide and 11% elastane. You can't imagine how it feels like? It is like a swimming suit but the front part is less elastic. It is very nice wear and I get used to it in seconds. It doesn't really hurt me anywhere and I had no problems with it at all. After using it for a while it still looks like new.
Price & availability
This bra was 9 pounds when I bought it and I would buy it again even for full price. The full price is 18 pounds. You can buy them in M&S shops or online at www.marksandspencer.com. It is worth checking the site occasionally because they have nice offers. This bra is available in 32 C-40 E sizes but it is worth checking the sizes as they are available in GG cups as well. Regarding the colour selection it is available in black and white.
I belong to those few who are completely satisfied with her breasts and I try to take care of them all the time. When I go out jogging I always wear sports bra as it provides the necessary support for my breasts. It is important to choose the suitable strength bra for the sports you do. I still have my old Triumph but I jog and swim nowadays and for swimming I don't wear extra bra below my swimming suit. For lower impact sports like yoga a medium support or high impact bra is probably comfortable.
I highly recommend this bra for anyone doing high impact sports.
