~~~~PURE COTTON SWAN PRINT TOP~~~~
I don't often purchase clothes from Marks and Spencer, other than underwear and sometimes nightwear, although I did buy a coat from there last autumn and have bought items of clothing now and again. Although I don't go in a high street stores, or even shop on-line at M&S very often I have bought enough purchases over the years to believe the quality is usually good.
A few weeks ago I did go into a Marks and Spencer store at Romford, in Essex just to buy some underwear and nightdresses. For my birthday last year my sister- in-law had chosen for me a top from this store and in truth, although I'm not especially a fan of M&S clothing, I was pleased with this top and because of this had thought of looking for something similar. So while walking through the store on my way to the lingerie section I decided to have a look at some of the tops on display.
I came across the cotton swan print top which was displayed in pink and in blue. I dithered for a few minutes as wasn't completely sure about the swan design but as the top I had been given as a gift was similar in design (not pattern) to this top, I thought I would buy it, take it home (I couldn't be bothered trying it on in the changing rooms) to try on and then if I didn't like it I would simply return it to the store. Blue is my favourite colour so I chose the blue over the pink.
This top was priced at only £12.50 which I think is a fantastic price for it.
When I arrived home and slipped this top on I was pleased with it. It fit nicely and because of the design, which although fitted to the waste is fairly loose over the back and to the waste, therefore flattering, I feel.
It has a scoop neck which isn't too low, making it practical for every day wear. The neck ties and has smocking detail to it.
The short sleeves are ideal. I prefer either sleeveless or short sleeves and can't stand anything tight on my arms; the sleeves on this fit perfectly.
So I kept this top and have worn it several times. In my opinion this top is most suited to casual wear and I wear it with jeans. The shade of blue does particularly go with blue denim, although really this top in either the pink or blue shade will go with most colours of trousers or a skirt. But I'm usually to be found in jeans and so this is my favourite way of matching it up.
The material is 100% cotton. It feels soft and comfortable. I'm quite fussy with materials and hate anything scratchy or lacy around the neck or sleeves. This top is ideal for me as it is so comfortable yet looks feminine. Although casual still looks fairly smart.
This top has been worn a few times now and I have been pleased with the way it has washed. It is machine washable at 30° and to make its care even easier it can also be tumble dried. I have tumble dried it and also let it dry naturally on a clothes airier. It doesn't take long to dry and in the summer will dry nicely, I would think, outdoors on the line.
Another big advantage in my opinion is that although the top is very easy to iron, I've found that when tumble dried it doesn't actually need ironing; I do very little ironing these days so for me that alone is a big selling point.
This top comes in size 6 to 24
