I love a nice dressing gown and buy a couple each year, most years I buy a Matalan one as theirs are generally thicker than others in the same price range - and they also stock a nice range of animal print dressing gowns, which is my favourite dressing gown design.
The one I have at the moment is knee length with two deep pockets at the front. It wraps around like any other dressing gown and has a long belt that threads through three belt loops for security. There's no hood on this dressing gown although in previous years the animal print dressing gowns have featured cowl-style hoods which looked great but unfortunately were rather uncomfortable both when the hood was up and also when it was down on my shoulders.
The animal print dressing gown washes well and is fine to go in the tumble dryer, I put my dressing gown on quite early in the evening if I know I don't have to go out anywhere so it's washed very regularly and nothing untoward has happened to it - it feels as soft and snug as it did when I bought it back in September and really it's a lovely cosy dressing gown.
I'm happy with the way it's kept me nice and warm through the winter but the fabric of the dressing gown also makes me think it would be a cool option for summertime, you can kinda get the vibe for things like that when you have dressing gown experience and I'm pretty sure I'll be proved right when this nasty cold weather finally goes away.
I paid around £12 for it, which is average for a fleece dressing gown I suppose - I have paid a little more in the past for animal print but wouldn't expect a Matalan dressing gown to cost any more as they're generally very reasonably priced.
All the past year I was in and out of hospital, only for the odd day here and there due to investigations into my health. This meant that often I had to take comes pjs with me, dressing gown and slippers and so on. I owned a dressing gown my mother bought me a while back from Marks & Spencers which had hardly been used to be fair but washed and dried whenever I did wear it and so it looked a bit shabby so the last time I went to the hospital my mum wasn't happy when she saw me in it, she didn't say anything to me at the time but made up her mind I was having a new one and this was its replacement!
This cost my mum £16.00 from Matalan and is of course leopard print patterned in design which is something that I and Bet Lynch have in common, our love of it!
This is available to purchase in sizes 8-10, 12-14, 16-18 and 20-22 and in my opinion they are more the upper of the sizes stated. I am at the moment a size 12, Mum got me this in size 12-14 and it is a little loose on me though not overly so and very comfy indeed.
Made from 100% Polyester this is very fluffy and very warm indeed. It comes to my calves on my 5ft 7ish frame, is wrap over in style with two white pieces of ribbon to secure it into place on the inside of the dressing gown and then the arms are long and it has a belt that secures into loops on the outside of it and two deep, pockets, one to each side of the front of it. Its mainly light beige in colour with light brown spotty shapes all over it with black outline to make them shapes stand out.
Everything about this is great believe me, providing you really feel the cold as this is a real winter warmer. The pockets are nice and deep, its roomy and although really warm when on it isn't mega heavy either, important for me suffering with M.E as extra weight is something I do not need to carry about as it exhausts me. Its soft as well with nice long sleeves on my arms.
To wash this you simply can pop it in the washing machine and it is suitable for tumble drying though I don't do that and allow it to dry naturally as I have always found with this time of dressing gown it impairs the thickness and material of it and because I like the look and feel of this one so much I really don't want it ruined though it dries quick and again hasn't presented me any issues at all.
All in all I think that this is lovely and so far so good because even though its been washed it looks as good as new still. Apparently this is bang on trend too, whether it is or it isn't its a practical and nice looking dressing gown which is what counts to me!
