“ Brand: Matalan / Type: Leggings „
I love wearing leggings, so I have countless pairs from a whole host of different stores, as I will often pick them up when I see them available. I do favour quite expensive, good-quality leggings for going out, but also have many cheaper pairs which I find are excellent for trips and holidays, or for lounging about at home. I do have several pairs of leggings from Matalan in a variety of styles and colours, with at least two pairs from this retailer usually being taken with me on holiday. This review will be outlining my experiences of the Matalan Viscose Leggings which I have purchased on a few occasions now.
These particular leggings are not presented on a clothes hanger that is hanging up on a rail in Matalan but are instead folded and are presented in a cardboard cover, in a similar fashion to many brands of tights that are available in good clothing stores nowadays. There are a choice of styles and colours available, with my most recent purchase being plain black. I believe, however, that I previously owned these same leggings in navy, in addition to an attractive plum/purple shade.
Matalan's Viscose Leggings currently retail for £6 per pair, and are available in sizes 8 to 20. The price is the same, irrespective of which size is purchased. The leggings are available to purchase in store in branches of Matalan, or online at their website at www.matalan.co.uk, where postage costs will usually apply.
I find the 'fit' of these particular leggings to be spot-on, and in fact I have never really had an issue where Matalan's leggings are concerned; they seem to suit my slender, size 10/12 frame quite nicely, without there being irksome 'bunching' at either the ankles or knees. I find too that whilst some other leggings I have in my vast collection will rest neatly above the ankle, the Matalan version will tend to be ever-so-slightly longer, with the leggings covering the whole leg and ankle. I find that this is preferable for wear during the colder winter months, as I will often wear my leggings with boots and so prefer to have the ankles covered.
I find too that the waistband of the Matalan leggings has been finished properly, and I do feel that materials of a high quality have been used to make and 'finish' the leggings during their manufacturer. With leggings, I have only ever purchased one really cheap pair from a budget brand, and after this purchase I did vow never to buy really cheap leggings again as their waistband was inferior and it thus, it felt like it was 'cutting' into the skin and felt very uncomfortable. With the Matalan Viscose leggings, however, the waistband feels entirely comfortable and is not excessively tight.
The material used in the Matalan Viscose Leggings seems to be of quite a high quality too, I have never really noticed that it is prone to excessive bobbling or fraying; true, after countless wearings and washes, my leggings look slightly more lacklustre than they did when they were first purchased and worn, but I do feel that this is more a case of general wear and tear rather than being excessive damage. Certainly, for the extremely reasonable purchase price paid, I do feel I have had excellent value for money and have no complaints in terms of the leggings' material, as it has proven to be fairly hard-wearing.
The Viscose Leggings are easy to care for and are machine washable. I tend to wash items like this at 30 degrees when possible, and I have found these leggings cope very well with this practice. Their material is quite lightweight when compared to other pairs of leggings that I own, so I do find that the Matalan version does not take a particularly long time to dry. I also find that the leggings are not particularly prone to creasing, and so I do not feel that they need ironed before wearing, which makes them extremely convenient to care for. Additionally, I will often take 'easy care' items of clothing such as the Matalan Leggings in my suitcase when I am travelling or going on holiday as I find them convenient travelling companions due to their easy-to-care-for material.
I don't find that Viscose Leggings have been particularly prone to having their colour fading excessively, and the black pair I own at present still have plenty of wear left in them even though I have been wearing them quite a lot over the past two months or so, and have probably been washed at least once every 7-10 days during that time. I remember too that the plum/purple pair that I owned in the past lasted for absolute ages which surprised me given their low cost. I have no complaints in terms of the fabric keeping its colour, and have never found that these leggings are particularly susceptible to fading or discolouration.
Taking everything into account, I do feel these particular leggings are worthy of a recommendation as I have never really had cause for complaint where they are concerned. Additionally, I have repurchased several pairs of leggings from Matalan over the years and keep going back for more as they do meet my needs quite nicely. I do feel these leggings are worthy of full marks in the product rating score, particularly as I cannot think of a single negative point to report within this review.
When I was pregnant with my youngest baby (who is now 18 months), I lived in leggings as they were the stretchiest, comfiest clothing I could squeeze my enormous bump into. This put me off wearing leggings after the birth as it just reminded me of being pregnant again!
After buying a few longer length tops I decided I should try leggings again as some of my friends wear them and they look good on them. As I was in Matalan recently browsing the sale items, I saw some leggings hung up near the tills.
The leggings are packaged simply in a white cardboard sleeve with a picture of some very skinny legs wearing black leggings with red heeled shoes with 'LEGGINGS' written across the image in red capital letters. It says papaya essentials in the top left hand side and the price of £6 in black lettering inside a black circle outline. In the bottom right corner it says Full Length Stretch Viscose.
When I tried them on at first I was amazed at how soft and comfortable they are to wear. (compared to jeans which I live in). These are true to size (I am usually a size 10-12) and I bought a 12 this time. They are a good length too. I think leggings are a really useful item to own as they go with a lot of my clothes. I have worn them so far with longer length vest tops with flipflops and also with a VERY short tunic style dress I bought from ebay which is indecent if worn on its own! I will be wearing this alot more now.
They are made from 95% Viscose and 5% Elastane. The washing instructions on the packaging are just to wash them on a 40degree wash with similar colours and not to tumble dry them. However I have only washed them on a 30degree light wash as they haven't got really dirty.
I would recommend these leggings if you want something comfortable, easy to wear and which is so useful for wearing with different outfits. I'm planning on popping back into Matalan for another pair.
Thanks for reading.
WHAT ARE THEY?
Leggings from Matalan. They come packaged on a cardboard hanger like tights instead of hanging up in Matalan with the rest of the clothes.
THE LOOK AND FIT
These leggings are basic black leggings made of viscose. They come down to my ankles and have quite a high waist so that I can pull them up over my stomach to make me look slimmer because my tummy is still a little bit loose after I gave birth last June. They are tight on my legs but not too tight so that they make my legs look bigger than they are, they are close fitting instead of tight I think. I bought them in size 8 and they fit me but are a bit too long in the leg sothey are always wrinkled at the bottom.
WHAT I THINK
I like these leggings very much and buy them often because I wear them so much that they do not last for very long. They are very cheap so I do not mind and I wear them to go to the gym and also for work by dressing them up with attractive shoes and a loose fitting top. I like wearing them when I know I am going to use a lot of hair colour and bleach at work because they are so cheap that I do not care if I spoil them.
They are very comfortable to wear and they do not stretch at the knee even when I have been sitting for long times with my legs crossed. They also wash and tumble dry without losing their shape or stretch and I think that is good because a lot of the leggings I have worn before are not like that and are very baggy when I have not wore them very often. The colour does not fade also when they have been washed a lot.
I wear them with slip on ballerina shoes or boots over them.
You can get these leggings in sizes 8 -18 and they cost £6.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
Now i have had many leggings as its all i wear apart from if i go bare legged as i find them really comfortable, now because i wear them all the time after awhile they do wear so i decided to try the ones from matalan as they are really good priced at £6 and because i am a student i get 10% off so i get the for£5.40 which for that price you can keep buying them. I found that the Matalan Viscose leggings them easy to wear as you can pull them up so they go over my stomach which helps to pull it in a bit and i find that it holds the leggings up although these ones are very good as they stay in place which i haven't found with many that i have worn before.
They are very stretchy which is ideal for me as i have very big thighs and they fit to your legs so they don't look baggy. Even after they've been washed they don't lose their shape or their colour and i have had mine for nearly about 9months. Although they have had a slight hole or two at the seams but they have been easy to stitch up and once that has been done its not noticable. They are a really good buy and i would reccomend them to anyone who likes leggings and doesn't want to spend a lot for them.
