When I discovered that I was pregnant, I intended to simply wear my oversized jumpers and t shirts rather than going out and buying a whole load of maternity clothes as I didn't really see the point in splashing out on clothes that i'd only be wearing for a few months which would be going to charity once my little girl is born. This proved not to be a great idea though, as the fit of a baggy jumper when stretched over my bump isn't very flattering to say the least and it makes me look rather round and stubby!
I have always been a fan of New Look as I find that most of their clothing is good quality and the prices are reasonable too. Just before Christmas my Grandma took me shopping as she knew I was strapped for cash due to buying various baby essentials, and she treat me to a few winter bits. I needed a nice plain, casual jumper that would be versatile enough to wear to a variety of places and this jumper seemed ideal. When it comes to jumpers I become a bit obsessive, I love jumpers for some weird reason and I am very picky about the jumpers that I wear, mainly because I want it to look stylish rather than frumpy and plain.
The thing that stood out to me most about this jumper is the design, which looks slightly textured. It's in the honeycomb knit style which is huge this year and I also love the colour, which is a nice classy burgundy red which I think is quite a mature colour and it really brightens up an outfit. The jumper also has a nice little split on each side of it at the bottom, I didn't actually realise this when I first got it and I wasn't keen at first as I hate the top of my legs, however it is suprisingly flatetering and the split isn't too high or noticeable, it adds a feminine touch to the jumper in my opinion and I really like this little 'feature' of the jumper.
The thing that I am not so keen on is the neckline. When on the coat hanger it looked quite high although it had a slight scoop to it. When I was wearing it however it was quite low, not low enough to show any cleavage but low enough for my chest to get chilly when out and about if wearing this jumper on its own. It also doesn't go in a straight scoop, it hangs slightly in the middle however because of the dark colour this isn't too noticeable and it doesn't particullary bother me although i'd prefer it to not have the slight crease where it's too baggy. The fit around my bump is fine, not too genorous and not too tight. It fits well on my shoulders and arms. Sizes available are 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18.
This is obviously a long sleeved top and the sleeves come wrist length on me. I am one of those people who likes really long sleeves to keep my hands warm but this isn't a huge issue and it definetly doesn't effect my overall opinion of the top! The material is soft but it has a slightly stiff feel to it if that makes sense, it definetly is obvious to the touch that it isn't wool or cotton, and it's made of a hundred percent acrylic. I am usually warey of acrylic tops as I find that they bobble easily, however so far this top isn't too bobbled and it doesn't look scruffy or well worn despite me wearing it regulary. The material is quite thick and it keeps me feeling warm and snug, the material isn't itchy either. The top does wash well and it hasn't lost its shape or colour in the couple of months that i've had it.
The length of this is quite long - just above knee length on me, which I like because I hate my thighs! It also means that the top can be worn with leggings as obviously it'll cover your bum up or it can be worn with a nice pair of skinnys or perhaps shorts if you purchase this in the warmer weather - it is really versatile. This top is priced at £22.99 which considering the quality and versatility of the jumper I think is a good price. Overall I would definetly reccomend this if you want a nice comfy jumper that is versatile, looks nice and fits well.
