“ Brand: Asos / Type: Womens Maternity Top „
I'm very petite and up until I was around 26 weeks pregnant my bump was absolutely tiny, with people assuming I was only around the 16 week mark. Because of this, I decided not to bother stocking up on maternity clothes and to instead wear my oversized tops and jumpers, as I own quite alot of men's XL jumpers thanks to my ex boyfriend! Don't get me wrong, I don't dress like a bloke - they're mainly character jumpers such as Mickey Mouse etc and I also own heaps of oversized T shirts and hoodies.
In the past couple of months though my bump has sprouted ALOT (as they do!), I am 8 months pregnant now and it's gotten to the point where even my ex's XL's are feeling pretty tight around my middle, and I feel like an absolute slob if I just wear baggy jumpers all the time which is the reason why I bought this top; it's nice and basic yet is a maternity top so it fits nicely in all the right places, which I prefer as that way it's tight on my arms and boob area and also shows my bump off - I love being pregnant and walking about with my bump on display, so with this top people know i'm pregnant and not just 'on the big side'!
I am a very frequent ASOS customer and browse their site almost daily, i'm a bit addicted to be fair! I've picked up lots of cheap, good quality maternity clothes from this site, and this is one of the most versatile and comfy of the items that i've purchased. It's basically a baseball style top which is white with blue 3/4 length sleeves. It's very casual and is easy to just sling on with a pair of jeans. It's nothing special but it has a bit of a preppy edge to it which I love and it reminds me of the American tops that are styled like this. There are a variety of different colours available, the main bit of the top is white and the sleeves are available in blue, green or purple, there's probably more colours available too. The colours aren't particullary girly, nor is the design but it's not at all manly and because of the fit it is actually really flattering.
The top is 100% cotton, the material's quite thick but has a decent amount of stretch to it meaning it's extremely comfy and it fits nicely all over my upper half. I've found with some maternity tops that the bust area is also overlly stretchy, where as this fits really nicely not only around my stomach but also on my upper half. I also like that it's got a decent amount of length to it, and it comes just above mid-thigh on me so it can also be worn with leggings if desired, however I personally think leggings would look a bit too slouchy when paired with this. With jeans though it looks nice, very casual but not too casual or slobby. Another feature I like is the slightly scooped neckline which gives it a feminine touch without showing any cleavage.
I was a bit concerned that because it's white, it would go a little see through when stretched over my bump, however i've had no problems with this at all. I also like that the sleeves are 3/4 length as it gives it that bit of uniqueness and makes it that bit more feminine. The top is machine washable and washes well, I have had no issues with it shrinking or bobbling etc and it's still got a smooth feel to it. The sizes available are 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. I paid a reasonable £15 for this top which I think is decent value. The material is good quality and it has a very good fit. It's versatle too and looks nice, so I would reccomend it.
