“ Brand: Miso / Women's Knitted Cardigan „
A few months ago I was wanting to update my wardrobe a little bit as we were coming into the colder weather I wanted some lovely knitted clothing. Now, although I tend to spend quite a lot of money on shoes, clothes are slightly different for me I like a bargain (well who doesn't?!) and tend to wait for mid season sales before spending my money as you tend to get more for your money.
Whilst browsing on the Republic website I came across their knitwear selection and did end up making a few purchases. One being the Miso Knitted Lurex Cardigan which at the time I bought it came in cream, grey, black and burgundy. I opted for cream and grey simply because they were reduced to £10.00 from £28.00 and the two colours would probably be more worn by me.
According to Miso:
"This long knitted cardigan by Miso is the perfect cover-up this A/W and it features a loose knit look to keep you looking stylishy cool."
The cardigan is a long length cardigan and on me it comes just to my hips which I find a decent length. It is knitted and has a gold or silver thread running through it (depending on the cream or grey varieties!) which does add a nice design feature to the cardigan although it would look perfectly fine without it. It does have long sleeves and two pockets which are at the front of the cardigan, one on each side. There are also no buttons on the cardigan so it cannot be done up.
I ordered an 8 in both cardigans as although I am between a 6 to 8 I would obviously be wearing the cardigan over a top I wanted a little room. Now I find the 8 a good fit but I should have got the smaller size as I have found that the sizes do come up a little big and although it wasn't baggy on me but it wasn't overly fitted either which does give that casual look which is nice but I would have personally preferred a more fitted look.
I find that the cardigan is incredibly soft and although knitted it doesn't irritate the skin whatsoever. I find that the length of the cardigan is just right for me as is the length of the arms as sometimes being tall the arm length isn't as long as I'd like it. My only small gripe is that it doesn't have buttons. Now although I don't always do my cardigans with buttons up sometimes it is nice to have the option and as this isn't particularly fitted it would be nice to do it up to get that fitted look.
The cardigan is easily washed at a 30 degree wash but I don't tumble dry it as I can see it shrinking. I therefore, air dry my cardigan and I find that because of the materials used it doesn't have very long to dry at all and almost comes out of the wash dry once the cycle has spun. I have had my cardigans since October and they have washed well and kept their shape.
Overall, I think if I had paid £28.00 for the cardigan I would have been disappointing as I definitely do not think it is worth the full price as it is quite a basic knitted cardigan and you are paying essentially for the metallic thread. However, for £10.00 it makes it a much more affordable purchase. It is definitely a nice addition to the wardrobe and comes in handy over a top and with a pair of skinny jeans. For me I would recommend but you need to get the sizing right. I therefore give the cardigan 4 stars.
