“ Brand: Miss Selfridge / Type: Casual Wear „
I first came across these denim shorts on Facebook on my news feed as I have 'liked' the Miss Selfridge page on there, and they post a picture of their 'pick of the day' everyday. This was their 'pick of the day' a few weeks ago and I wanted them straight away! I went onto the Miss Selfridge website and as they were £35 I didn't want to buy them without trying them on first. They have a feature on their website which allows you to check what stores near you it is available on and this is when I realised it is in fact not available in any stores as it is an online exclusive. Even though it states on the page that it is online exclusive I must have just missed that part due to looking at the actual picture of the shorts too much!
When they had an offer on for free delivery I decided to buy it along with 10% student discount so it came to £31.50. It took me a while to decide what size to buy as I am usually a size 8 but have found that when it comes to shorts i always need a bigger size, and so decided to buy a size 10. I don't like the hassle of having to return things in the post and await a refund or for them to send out another size. It wouldn't usually bother me with Miss Selfridge as you can return items paid for online to their store, however you cannot do this with their online exclusive range. Luckily the size 10 just fit! However I am usually a size 8 or sometimes even a 6 in Miss Selfridge and so I would recommend getting these one size bigger than you usually are.
I love the look of denim shorts with black leggings or tights and trainers, with a leather jacket at the moment. This is how I wear mine, unfortunately this british weather doesn't allow me to wear these shorts just by themselves! The aztec print on the shorts really makes them stand out and so the rest of your outfit can be plain to make the shorts even more noticeable. I have worn mine with just a baggy black top or a different coloured jumper. Every time I have worn these I have had compliments from people about them.
I must point out that the aztec print is only on the front of the shorts and not the back, as you cannot tell in the image above, but the images on the Miss Selfridge website show this.
The denim seems quite thick and so quite good quality, which is what you would expect for the price. The black aztec print seems to be sewn on, I am not sure what kind of material it is exactly but its not the kind that will come off the shorts in the wash or when you iron them. The bottom of the shorts is frayed which I like, but I did find annoying at first as it seemed to fold up at the bottom after I had been sitting down etc. This did only start to happen after I had been wearing them for a while that day though and the frayed bit does lie down straight after ironing them, however you could do what I did and just quickly straighten the ends with your hair straighteners!
I love these denim short and although a bit pricey I do think they are worth it, considering how many compliments I receive when wearing them and the quality of them. The fact that they are an online exclusive does have its downsides but luckily they fit me and so I did not need to return them, and on the plus side it also means that not many people will own them!
