      4/5

I purchased these just before a holiday to Thailand as I was in desperate need of some short shorts that I could just throw on but not be too hot while wearing them.

I came across these in Topshop and at £22, they're no where near as expensive as some of the other shorts they sell, although this is probably because these are more like hot pants. Nevertheless, I wasn't going to moan at the price. They have labeled them in waist sizes instead of size 8, 10 etc, and I purchased a w"32 and they for nicely, not too loose and not too tight.

In terms of comfort, they fab. They're made from 98% cotton and 2% elastane which probably exams the comfort factor. They quite flexible and stretchy, so good when you're in a hotter climate. However I did wear them for a few hours in one go (I was on an elephant ride in 35 degree heat, not ideal!) and found that once you get hot wearing them it's extremely hard to cool down again. That is the only negative thing I can say about them, but it's unlikely you'll get that hot in this country anyway!

As they're hot pants they sit quite far up the leg, especially on me as I have very long legs! They also sit quite low and on me, this is on my hips. I do prefer shorts to sit on my waist (as this is my slimmest part!) but I managed to cover up any bits I didn't like with a loose top! They are fastened with a small button and a zip that has 2 pockets next to it and similarly designed on the back in terms of pockets.

I washed them while I was on holiday as I didn't want to put smelly elephant shorts in suitcase! I literally washed them with hot water and soap and after a good scrub they came out nicely. Luckily, the colour didn't fade at all and they remained as bright as they were when I first got them. Since returning home, they have been washed properly and ironed and they came out lovely.

When the weather improves and gets a litter warmer I think these shorts will be a great addition to a summer wardrobe as they are quite versatile but inject some colour into your outfit. For me they are more of a day time pair of shorts with a summery top and sandals, but I think they'd also be great if you're off to a festival this summer because they are so vibrant!

All in all, these shorts were a good purchase as they are super comfortable and very versatile. The only downside is because they're quite fitted, they're not very cool once they're on and they can feel quite hot when worn for longer periods. On this basis I will give them 4/5 Dooyoo stars but I think they are worth a look for the summer anyway as the colour as absolutely fab and on trend for this year!
