I thought I'd do another clothing review because I do like doing these reviews a lot! Basically, I'm doing to be doing a review on the New Look body suit because I bought one of these a few years ago, in fact I bought two because I thought they looked cool, everyone was talking about them, I flicked through magazines and fashion blogs and I could 'body suits' where ever I was looking, so I decided to buy two. I bought my first one from primark, which was grey-lace one, five pounds but ripped after the first wear, but I still wear it sometimes, but not as often as I used it. I bought my second one from New Look, because I can trust the brand, I like the clothes, and also I do not need to worry about breaking the bank so that the place I needed to be.
I bought the black one because it is a classic, it goes with everything, can wear it in the evening as well as during the day too, so I thought that the color black, was the best option. I bought mine for £7.99, but might had been slightly cheaper for me because I was a student when I bought it and got 10% student discount, (oh I did love the student discount days!) I got a bigger size up, because I found it quite uncomfortable to stretch around, and move around the arm area, I got the 14 instead of my regular size 12.
My overview of wearing was that it was a nice fit, but you have to make sure that you get the right size, even if this means getting the next size up, because it will be a lot more comfortable. Even though I got a size that was comfortable for me, and the material was nice as well, not too thin, not too thick but I still had difficulty moving in the arms, and found two little holes under the arm pits after wearing the body suit a few times.
The Great thing about body suits is that they go with everything, shorts, jeans, trousers, skirts, you made it! Also you can dress it up or down, up to you! In New Look they have an excellent collection of colors and patterns in these body suits, you can get black, white, striped ones, black and white and blue and white, grey, you can get ones that are lace, in black and white. Even better you can get ones that more ideal for going out so you can find ones with a net plunge-line, ones with sparkles. But the one I owned is more dress down, but you could bling up with chunky necklaces and chains.
So if you were to find a body suit I would recommend New Look, because they have great ones and if you don't mind the pain of getting on and off while going to the toilet - because I will admit this a nightmare for me!
New Look is one of my all time favourite fashion retailers as they stock the latest trends at affordable prices which in this day in age is absolutely essential. There seems to be a New Look now on every high street making it not only cheap but accessible, too. Not surprisingly then most of my essential items are also purchased from New Look. For Christmas 2011 I was treated to an all-expenses paid shopping trip to London and the New Look bodysuit it one of the items that I picked up.
The 'body' tops have been on trend now for a long time and they don't look like budging from the rails any time soon. The style of the body top can be described as a baby-gro type style whereby the top closes between the legs just like the baby gro or a babys vest which might sound quite strange but it has big advantages (as well as disadvantages which shall be elaborated on later...) I purchased the top in black as I thought that black would go well with most of the other pieces in my wardrobe but other colours were available at the time.
The top has a scoop neck which is flattering without being revealing meaning it can be worn both day and night. The back of the top is also scooped which shows off your back so looks sexy and formal. The sleeves are three quarter which keeps me warm when I hit the pubs and clubs in winter. I picked the top up in a size 6 and it is very fitting and very tight which it is supposed to be as it is bodycon style. The fastner is 3 little prestuds which are quite hard to fasten in all honesty as the style of the top is so tight.
Now for the advantages of this type of top, well, it keeps the top tucked into whatever bottoms that you are wearing and therefore is rigid in its bodycon style as it douches 'rouche' up or become untucked. However, going to the toilet can become a challenge and more often than not I cant be bothered to fasten the top up again so instead I just tuck the tab into my skirt/trousers/shorts etc.
The price of this top was £7.99 which I think is a great price as I have got so much wear out of this top given its versatility and simple style and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend.
I bought these just after Easter as they were in season, and i've been wearing them regulary so far this summer too because they're so easy to slip on and match with jeans or shorts.
The pack of 2 bodysuits was £14.99. In each pack there is one black bodysuit and one white bodysuit, so as you can see they're basic colours making the bodysuit basic and plain, but easy to dress up if desired. The bodysuit's are really comfy and are made out of cotton and elastane, making them feel just like the stretchy bodycon material. They're soft and comfy to wear and although they are skin tight they're not uncomfortable at all - in fact they're really comfy.
The bodysuits are nice and lightweight so are ideal for summer and can be worn with sporting activities too such as ballet, running (if worn under a pair of shorts) etc. I personally wear mine purely for fashion and team it with tight jeans, shorts, skirts and very occasionally hareem pants (creates a playsuit effect). I always if wearing it with shorts and skirts try and pair it with leggings or tights to stop it from making me look a bit over exposed, but when it's warm I don't. I usually wear a black bra under the white one which suprisingly doesn't look trashy if paired with high waisted jeans, a nice fitting blazer and elegant heels.
The bodysuits have a deep scoop neck and also scoop at the back aswell, but you don't have to worry about your bra straps showing because it doesn't go that far down. The sleeves are 3/4 length making the bodysuit very summery and as I said before ideal for warm weather. The bodysuit is easy to put on and has a popper on the gusset.
I think £14.99 for 2 basic bodysuits is quite good value but there are probably cheaper and more attractive alternatives - I have seen them in Primark in different styles such as lace etc.
Sizes availale are: 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18. Only the larger sizes are available online so if you're between the sizes 6-12 you will only be able to buy the bodysuits in store at your local New Look. These are machine washable and dry quickly, they don't need ironing so are easy to keep care of. Mine are still in good condition even a few months of wearing them reasonably regulary.
Overall a versatile piece of clothing which if you like the look of I would reccomend.
