New Look Bootcut Jeans
Advantages: Cheap, look good
Disadvantages: None I can think of
Like most people, I seem to live in jeans. I wear them casually, around the house, on a night out, and in work. While I love skinny and straight leg jeans, at the moment I feel a bit too 'chubby' to wear those, and so have been sticking with classic bootcut jeans. New Look is one of my favourite shops, and I will always go there first when I need jeans due to the large range of styles available, and reasonable prices.
STYLE, FIT AND COMFORT
These are bootcut jeans with a regular waist rather than a lowrise waist, so they sit nicely as opposed to hanging low on your hips, which personally I don't like. They don't have too much of a flare at the bottom, and I have always found these sit slightly tighter around the thighs - they aren't baggy the whole way down your leg. Because of the bootcut fit, I have found that these look good with both flat shoes, Converse, and heels alike.
They have a zip and one button at the top, 2 pockets at the back, and 2 at the front. They are made from 80% Cotton, 18% Polyester and 2% Elastane, so they feel soft.
SIZES AND COLOURS AVAILABLE
These come in sizes 8 to 16, with leg lengths available being 28in, 30in, 32in and 34in. I have found that these look better if you choose a leg length that's slightly longer, I think they sit better, especially if you are wearing heels with them.
They are available in black and dark blue.
There is a good range of sizes available for all shapes and sizes. Like all jeans these fit tighter when they are new or just out of the wash, but there is a bit of 'give' in them so you can make them slightly looser if you jiggle about! I own these jeans in both sizes 12 and 14, and I used to have the 16s when I was bigger. All sizes were very comfortable and there is a definite difference between the sizes. I would say that the sizes in these are perhaps more generous than other jeans, for example you may be able to fit into a smaller size if you are hovering somewhere between 2 dress sizes like I am at the moment (thanks, WeightWatchers).
WEAR AND TEAR
With the blue version of these jeans, I haven't noticed that the colour has faded whatsoever, and they have maintained their shape well. Mine are a little frayed at the bottom but that is not the fault of the jeans, it's mine for wearing them with Converse and having too-short legs.
I wear the black version to work (as they don't obviously look like jeans, and the bootcut makes them that wee bit smarter which saves me wearing boring suit trousers!) and I do think they have faded slightly but again this is due to me wearing them very regularly, and fading is natural with very black jeans I feel. The black ones are starting to go a little baggy at the knee but they generally pop back into shape after a wash.
These jeans cost £9.99 which I think is a fantastic price. I have other jeans from New Look that cost between £20-£30, and I don't feel they are much better quality than these £9.99 jeans. I don't think even Primark sell jeans for less than 10 pounds these days, so to get these for £9.99 is brilliant.
WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Absolutely! A decent pair of bootcut jeans for under a tenner? What's not to recommend?! I have a blue pair of these, and 2 black pairs, and as my weight loss continues (hopefully), I will be buying smaller versions accordingly. It can be very tough to find a decent pair of jeans these days that don't cost the earth and these are an absolute bargain.
