New Look Boyfriend Cardigan
Advantages: Available in different colours, cheap
Disadvantages: Stitching becomes loose very quickly
I have several cardigans in different colours as I think they are great for spring/summer when it is too warm to wear a jacket but you still want something to wear over the top of your outfit. New Look is great as they have a range of a few different styles of cardigans and all are available in different colours. Thus 'boyfriend' cardigan is one that I own in black as well as beige. The material is slightly different on the beige one which I have owned for around 2 years now compared to the black one, which I bought around 3 months ago. My black one is 96% viscose and 4% elastane, machine washable and needs to cool ironed inside out.
I had a black cardigan that I purchased last year from Primark but the quality of it wasn't that good and the sleeves became baggy and the material seemed to go 'bobbly' after a few washes. Therefore, I wanted a new one and so went back to New Look knowing they had them in lots of colours and so were bound to have a black one.
I am usually a size 8 but these cardigans are quite tight fitting around the arms and I struggled to get my arm in the size 8 and so instead purchased this in size 10. The fitting on the rest of the cardigan was fine too and it didn't look baggy, and so I recommend you try the next size up to your usual if you do consider buying one of these cardigans from New Look.
Other than black, these are available in white, oatmeal, purple, pink, plum, cream and light blue and are priced at £12.99. Sizes range from 6 up to 18.
I do like the cardigan but my only problem with it is the stitching around the ends of the sleeves. The stitching does'nt seem to be very strong and it actually started to come apart after only a week. The cardigan is still wearable though, I have just had to cut the bits of string off that keeps coming loose. I know that my beige one I also purchased from New Look also eventually did this in the exact same place too, but I don't remember it happening as soon as it did with my black one, and I actually put it down to just wear and tear as I did have it a while.
I did want this particular cardigan in other colours but now the loose stitching has put me off buying any more. Not only does it look messy and cheap when the stitching becomes loose, I think it will only be a matter of time when the ends of the sleeves become quite loose too, and not tight fitting like they originally were when I first purchased mine.
Summary: A good cardigan while it lasted!
