“ Brand: New Look / Type: Top „
Well, its definitely been a long time since I last wrote a review! But I'm back and raring to go - rating everything possible! Remind me to rate you if I haven't already, as I'm lacking behind a little haha. Now, I am a very avid fashion follower, admittedly preferring Topshop - but I do occasionally venture into New Look as I find it to be a bit cheaper for the same quality clothing. I didn't really buy this top for any given purpose, other than to add to my growing wardrobe of 'things I didn't really need to buy' haha. The one thing which might be a problem to some people (like my fussy friend I went shopping with) is the bobbled effect. The top is coloured but the bobbles are a whitish colour. Its almost the effect when you've washed a top loads of times and it begins to be 'worn' - but its getting fashionable at the moment! As you can see from the image, the top is a standard vest at the top, but when you look to the waist it is tied sort of beachy and it looks really flattering. The straps are quite thick and the neck is round, not really high but high enough to not reveal too much clevage. The knot isn't just 'tied fabric' its seamed so it holds better and can be tightened or loosened as you like. I would say that it can be a little revealing of your stomach depending on your outfit. If you team it with high waisted bottoms this isn't a problem - but with just leggings it shows them. When it comes to washing, I don't own a tumble dryer anymore so mine just go through the washing machine on a 40 degree then on an indoor airer - so I wouldn't know about tumble drying although it does say it can be tumble dryed. I can't honestly comment on the bobbling either because its styled to be bobbly so I'm not sure if the bobbles have increased or stayed the same! The colour of mine (being nude) hasn't changed much. I put it in with the white wash and it seems to still be the same. The top comes in a wide range of colours so you could buy one for almost any outfit. I brought mine in a nude/cream colour so that it can be worn with almost anything - I would have got the black but it wasn't in my size. Sizes range from 6 (depending on the store) -18. I only know about the occasional size 6's from my friend so I'm not too sure how relevant this information is - but she claims to have seen them about! As for the price, it is now actually in the sale for around £3 which is below Primark prices, but at full price it only cost me £7 (with student discount you get 10% off). I would definitely recommend this top. Its extremely versatile and could be styled up or down depending on your mood. I like wearing mine with high waist jeans and converse - not too casual but casual enough for college! The material is hard wearing and the colour stays well - what more can you ask for?
Last week on my way around the town, I decided to pop into New Look and have a look at there new arrivals. Whilst on my way round I came across this lovely styled, casual Neppy Front Tie Top. As the price was very reasonable, I picked a colour that would be the most versatile. So I picked up the colour 'Cream Marl'. As I also get student discount I get an extra 10% off all purchases, which is fantastic. -- Appearance -- The top is very simple, plain and very casual. It is one that you could easily dress up with some cute accessories or dress down with a pair of jeans. The high neck top, has a tie located at the bottom which is great as you can either tie it lightly to add a little bit more shape to your figure or leave baggy which I have (especially after eating a big meal) which gives you a little bit more room. There are four colour choices which is Cream Marl, Charcoal, Spicy Orange and Green. It nice to see that the colour range has a couple more vibrant choices for the summer ahead. This is a vest top style with the thick straps, instead of spaghetti straps. It is also a fairly good length, but if you wanted it to show a little belly flesh this can easily be achieve by moving the top up slightly and tying it tighter for it to hold there. -- Price and Availability -- The tops are priced at £6.99 which I think is a very good price for the quality and style of the top. It is available in New Look stores and on their online website. -- My Experience -- This top is a wonderful statement piece in my wardrobe, I have decided I will be going back to repurchase the Green and Spicy Orange to add a little bit more colour to my summer! I find the top very versatile as the Cream Marl goes very well with various outfits. You could also where this on a night out, tucked into a skirt with a few added accessories and heels to dress it up a little. I would say this is more of a casual top, but having the option to be able to dress it up is wonderful, especially if your like me and run out of outfit ideas for nights out. It is fairly thin material which will keep you nice and cool in the summer. As it is a little chilly at the moment, the thickness isn't ideal but it does go well with a nice cardigan. I do sometimes find that with some tops the material under my arms irritates and leaves me with a rash, but so far so good and have not experienced any of this. I would definitely recommend this, it's a great staple. I also asked my mum to wash this on a cooler wash, as I didn't know what the material may turn out like if it was put in a hotter wash. The material is made of 80% Polyester and 20% Viscose. On the website it does state 'Look after me, love your planet wash at 30 degrees'. So I will continue to wash on cool and fingers crossed the material reasonably nice. -- Conclusion -- I would recommend this as it is great for the summer months, nice and thinnish material to keep you cool. It is also very versatile, so easy to either dress up or down. Great price and can't wait to grab more!
As part of my rewards for being a part of the shop and scan website I regularly choose New Look vouchers as I find their clothing to be affordable whilst i'm at University. I use the vouchers on going out clothes or in some cases items of clothing or shoes that I need. In this case I purchased this top for a night out. It primarily caught my eye because of the colour (which was nude not green as seen in the pic!). I liked the neutral colour and it was perfect for my shoes and other accessories that I had already picked out. I also really liked the style and cut of the top and it looked far more expensive than the price tag reflected. The top is a vest top but the straps are wide and not spaghetti straps like most vest tops. The wide straps are flattering and I find that they look better in formal situations than spaghetti straps. The top is long enough to pass as a normal tshirt but in the middle is a knotted detail. Due to this design it can show off some of your stomach so if you're conscious about this part of your body then I wouldn't recommend it! The knotted detail hands down slightly so you can't put it beneath a jumper etc as it would stick out and look bumpy! The top has a 'speckled' type look to it which stops it looking too plain! I bought this top to team with an electric blue bodycon skirt that I had recently purchased. The knotted detail stopped it from looking like a plain vest and it hung over the skirt well and looked formal enough for evening wear. It is very lightweight and didn't restrict movement at all. I found that it was a great fit too especially around the arms. The top is available from New Look for 6.99 which is a very reasonable price, it comes in 3 colours: black, green and nude and is perfect for the summer, too. It comes in sizes 8-18 and washes considerably well despite the colour fading a little bit but due to my top being nude it doesn't look too bad as it is light in colour already.
When I went into my local New Look store I noticed they had a lot of their summer clothing already out and some of the tops and other things were on offer or had money off. I had to take advantage of some of the offer's so I purchased a few summer tops. I like to wear sleevless vest style tops in the summer, as they keep me cool are are often avaliable to buy in a large range of colours. I noticed that crop top's are going to be the in thing this summer, as as I work out a lot and am quite toned I don't mind showing off a little of my tum! I saw the vest tops on the stand in the shop and noticed that they were on 2 for £10. I was immediately drawn to the lovely green colour, as it was quite bright and I love wearing green in the summer. Seeing as the tops were on offer I also went for a black/dark grey colour as well. The top is avaliable in 4 colours, which is the Black/dark grey, Green, Rust and a Cream colour. The tops cost £6.99 each if you don't purchase them on the offer. You cna buy the tops on their website, how-ever it doesn't state that these tops are currently on offer. The tops are avaliable to buy in a size 6 - 14, how-ever on their website they are low on stock and have already sold out of size 10. They will more than likely get them back in stock though as this is a new product and is aimed for summer. The tops are similar to a vest top as they are sleevless, how-ever they don't have a low, round neck-line. Instead the neck-line is quite high and the top's are sleeveless. The top is then tied up at the front into a knot, which makes the vest a little cropped, so this does show your tummy a little, but not too much. The tops are just one colour, how-ever they do have speckles of white colour in them as well so they aren't a complete block colour. I love the look of this as it makes it a little mroe interesting than just wearing a plain coloured top. I am normally a size 8 in tops, how-ever I found the top, a little tight around my under-arm, so I chose the size 10 instead. Although this was a little bigger, the top was still fitted around the chest area, and then got looser as it got towards the bottom of the top. You may find that the tie up is a little tight, so you can loosen this slightly to give you more movement. Although it's not summer yet I have worn one of these tops casual with jeans when going down to my local pub. As the top is light-weight you can move around in it easily and it will keep you cool in the summer. Although I went for a bigger size, this doesn't look too big on me as it's still quite fitted across the chest area. You can un-tie the top, how-ever it doesn't look as good as you have 2 long bits hanging down and it makes the top look less flattering. The top is made from 80% Polyester and you can machine wash the top, how-ever it suggests washing the top inside out and not to tumble dry the top. When washing the top it washes very nicely and as it's light-weight it doesn't take long to dry when putting it on the radiator. Even after washing the top it still fit's nicely and looks as good as it did when I first purchased it. I'm not too keen on the other colours of the top so I probably won't be purchasing them. This top is going to look great in the summer teamed with skinny or cropped jeans and will look great with white jeans. If you don't mind showing a bit of your tummy, then go and grab these tops whilst they are on offer. (review also on ciao)
