I have a few blazers because I need to wear smart professional clothes for work and I always think a nice black blazer smartens up any outfit. I have this blazer in both navy for work and also in white which I like to wear with jeans for a casual but smart look.
The blazer is a little bit shorter and more fashionable than a lot of 'work' blazers but it still looks smart especially when it is left open with a nice top and black trousrs or a skirt.
It is a single button closing blazer and closes across the middle. I had to make sure and try it on in the shop as it is quite slim fitting so I bought a size larger than I normally would as I found when it was buttoned that it was a little snug. This didn't matter when it was opened which is how I wear it most of the time but I do like the option of having it closed if I am thinking it is a bit chilly.
The fit of the blazer is excellent and it is very flattering when it is on. The shoulders are slightly padded which gives it a really nice modern look. I am always wary of my shoulders looking big but it actually seems to slim my whole body down. The fact it is slightly shorter than normal means that it elongates my body and it would be a good one for short people to make them look longer and leaner.
It washes really well and hasn't shrunk or lost its shape. I wear my work one loads and it still looks good even after having been washed and dried plenty of times.
It is made of a cotton/poly mix but it doesn't look or feel cheap and I actually really like the material because it is hard wearing which is something I want with something that I am going to be wearing often.
There are pockets in it too which I always like to have. I hate blazers with fake pockets as although I think they look good I want something that is practical as well as being nice looking.
This is a really good blazer. It not only looks smart and professional but depending on what colour you buy it can also just look really nice with a pair of jeans and some flat ballet pumps. This cost me 19.99 and although I have a much more expensive black blazer I actually prefer this one as I like the shape better and I find that it fits and looks better.
It took me forever to find a suitable blazer until I came across the New Look store and bought this One Button Blazer. I'm a size 6, it fit me well. Unfortunately, I don't wear it much because it doesn't seem to suit many of my outfits. Although, it is a very stylish blazer - it can be worn formal or casual. The one thing I didn't particularly like was the broad shoulders it gave me, but I guess some people like it that way. The pockets are useful to store important items around like your mobile. The blazer wouldn't button up for me, because it didn't fully cover my stomach area so it wouldn't close. But leaving it open still looks good. I don't particularly think it was worth the price for it, as the button did break off and I had to sew it back on. On the shelves, it looks great though! I think it depends on your size and the type of clothing you wear (if it will suit you).
As a naive first year law student, I apparently forgot to bring a key item in my first week of university - THE SUIT!
I was invited to a networking event at a prestigious law firm at the very last minute, and as I had bought an expensive suit (but left it at home a good 3 hours away), I knew I needed a fast, cheap but pretty smart looking outfit. Naturally, I ran to New Look where I bought some plain black trousers for £9 and then this suit jacket for about £20. I have to say, I did look fittingly sharp, and the jacket was well fitted, which surprised me as someone of a small frame I've never really suited blazers! But I did love this.
The next week I was invited out on a date, and decided to go for a smart casual blazer with jeans combo. I have to say it's the kind of blazer that goes really well with jeans. In fact, it's pretty flexible with a few different outfits...(by the way the combo must have worked, or at least it didn't scare the guy away too much as I got asked out again!)
So, if you're looking for a comfortable but smart, cheap but long lasting blazer to go with any outfit, I recommend this highly.
A really simple, plain blazer with cropped 3/4 length sleeves making it much more lightweight and versatile and it won't look silly if worn in summer. The blazer is tailored, ensuring the fit is just right, and looks alot more womanly and professional than the baggier, oversized types of blazers. The blazer has a discreet collar (can be folded up aswell to add a more punky look) which adds to the vintage look and the fact the jacket apears to be seemless with no visible stitching adds a more sleek look to it. The jacket has 2 pockets on either side, each with flaps on to ensure nothing falls out of your pockets during the day. They're not huge pockets and i use mine to put my iPod in as it's a perfect fit or alternatively pens etc. There is one single, black button on the left and side of the jacket which in my opinion is a bit silly as if it's cold you can't do the jacket right up, but as said before i think it's more of a lightweight summer blazer. Once done up it covers my belly area and my chest and bust aren't covered in the slightest (apart from the top underneath obviously!), which does add the feminine blazer look to it but for someone self concious of the size of there bust it's not ideal, same with anyone who's a bit self concious of there belly as because it's a tailored style it's quite clingy and well fitting.
Not the comfiest item of clothing due to been fitted and is quite stiff, but i've noticed it's eased off alot since i first got it however it's still not hugely comfy! This is my personal opinion though and i think i should of got the next size up as i didn't realise that it was so well fitting. The sleeves make it more comfortable though as i've found with other blazers that the sleeves always seem to be either too long or too baggy. The overall fit looks great and compliments my figure aswell as giving a professional, smart look for interviews and university lectures. I've found personally it works well with black heels, tights and a black bodycon with a simple white vest underneath. The jacket wouldn't look out of place with jeans though but i don't usually wear it in leisure time; i prefer to keep it solely for interviews & meetings etc.

Sizing: 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18. I'm an 8 and got an 8 and found it a bit too figure hugging, so if i ever decide to get another one i'll definetly get a 10 or 12 for a more comfy oversized look.
Material: Outer: 98% cotton & 2% elastane, Lining: 100% Polyester. (has a lovely soft warm feel to it)
Care: Dry clean only
Price and Value:
£24.99. I got mine in the sale for £12 which i was chuffed with, but would of paid the £24.99 price tag if it hadn't been on sale as for a tailored style blazer it's a bargain! I get loads of use out of it and although i don't wear it daily, it's a main staple in my smart side of my wardrobe.
Really feminine, well fitting blazer that's ideal for interviews and any other occasions where you want to look like you've made an effort.
I had been looking for a blazer for months and never found the right one. I am a BIG fan of New Look and when I saw this blazer I knew it was going to be the ONE. It was on special promotion so I ended up paying £15 for it and bought it in black and pink. The blazer itself is not too thick and it is not too thin, I can see myself wearing it over the summer if there is a breeze and it won't look silly. It is not the typical 'work' blazer either and looks great with denim or even a dress as the picture above shows. There is a small pocket on the right breast and there is one button which does the blazer up. The cut of the blazer is lovely and the positioning of the button is fantastic. It really pulls you in and makes you look like you have a teeny tiny waist. Even if you don't do the button up, the blazer really does complement any figure. The lining inside the blazer is thin too. You don't feel restricted either whilst wearing the blazer, I can happily stretch with the button done up and don't need to worry that the button will pop off. Everytime I wear the black or pink blazer people always say how great it looks and they cannot believe where it is from and how much I paid for it! The only downside I can think of is that the blazer cannot be washed in the machine, it is dry clean only. I guess a lot of jackets etc are dry clean only but that really is the only negative that I can think of!
A simple, plain black blazer is something Ive been searching to find for what seems like ages - but I wanted one that was a proper tailored jacket rather than a coat in a blazer style which is all I could seem to find - and Im very picky when it comes to my clothes. But when I had a few extra pound over in my bank a few weeks ago and thought Id browse through the New Look sale and thats when totally by accident I found this 'New Look One Button Blazer' and I knew Id never find one that I liked as much again so I bought it straight away. I mainly needed this for my job interview outfit - I thought maybe looking posher would help me find more work but apparantly not - but this was a fabulous investment either way, Ive been waering it loads so far and I think Ill get loads more use out of it in the future.
Stockists: New Look & newlook.com
Sizes: 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18. Get your average size - in my case the size 10 is ever so slightly too large but its nice to have a bit of wiggle room in this jacket.
Colours: Black - the colour I personally own, Sand & Pink Blossom.
Other Info: Split collar lapel - double breasted jacket with buttons, cropped sleeves with pocket detailing & this fastens by a single button.
*The New Look website recommends to ONLY dry-clean - I dont think you really need to do that as long as you wash it on a low setting (like I have been) you shouldnt have any problems - Ive been washing it like that and there is no signs of fading or bobbling just yet.*
So as with most New Look clothes this looks just like the image in real life so if you are buying online - like I did - you wont be disappointed - although you wont have to wear that hideous top along with these. Blergh! The jacket is black all over and with no signs of visible stitching at all which I was quite shocked about as tailored jackets of this type normally have that. It is made from a cotton like material and is very tailored - the collars and overall fit of the jacket is very fitting yet the lines look really great on it - the collars can be folded upwards and they do stay that way but I dont think the look would be as good that way - it looks a bit silly in my opinion. The front of this jacket has one singular button which is the one thing I dislike about the jackets design overall. For those of us who have quite a large chest this is impossible to do up! When the button is closed it looks like the jacket is really strained against your chest and actually does nothing expect make you look bigger than you actually are - everywhere not just the boobs! - and draws even more attention to your chest its way too tight for me to do up. If it had more buttons this would be much more comfortable for me to wear when its done up.
On the front of the jacket is also 2 pockets which have flaps covering the top of them to ensure nothing falls out if your walking around with things in your pocket. The pockets arent that deep so you wont be able to fit that much in there but I guess Id be moaning if there werent any pockets at all. I think the cropped sleeves on this jacket help the design so much and in my opinion make it so much more comfortable - of course it means I cant wear it alone in colder weather but I think it makes the fit much better as my shoulders dont feel as hunched in the jacket as they would if the sleeves were longer. The fit of this is perfect for me as it is long enough on my height, baggy enough to fit my shoulders properly & fitted enough on my weight as well - apart from it making it look badly stretched against my boobs so Im knocking a star off for that!
But apart from that I dont have a problem. This matches everything Ive tried to match it with - even my more casual clothes as this can really dress up a simple pair of jeans but it looks just as good with a pair of black trousers for job interview or a dress for a night out so it is very versatile. And it is good quality as well and Ive been washing it which is said to make this practically fall apart - Ive had this for about 3 months now and I cant see any signs of wear or fading on this jacket at all so overall Im very happy. Apart from it stretching way too much over my boobs I cant find another issue that I have with this - bigger boobed women might want to try this one on in store though to see if it will flatter your figure!
Thanks For Reading.
