“ Brand: New Look / Type: Jumper - Ladies „
Last winter cable knit aran/pure wool jumpers and cardigans were hugely in season for the oversized vintage look. I couldn't afford to buy a brand new, 'the real deal' one (£40 plus for a decent and authentic one), so i decided to have a look around to see if there were any similar jumpers available in Primark as they copy alot of the trends, but they didn't have any apart from a very poorly stitched cable knit cardi that was dry to the touch and didn't look comfy at all. I decided to have a quick look in New look but i was overwhelmed with the choices and as it was so busy and cramped i thought best to go home and look online so i could take my time and see all the relevant information rather than just buying one for the sake of it.
In the end, i settled on this jumper, and i love it. It is available in 2 colours, cream and a reddy brown. I chose the cream for the aran jumper look. It's a really nice shade of creamy white and looks just like the shade of aran wool but it's purer and fresher. The jumper is actually made out of real wool (70%) and it's 30% acrylic so although it is quite tough to the touch as it's so tightly woven, it is lovely and soft and warm once wearing it, however it's not quite warm enough to wear on its own in the winter as it's not an overly thick jumper. Unlike Aran jumpers it doesn't have a sheepy smell to it which is a plus side and i'm glad i didn't get an aran jumper now as my friend got one and it absolutely stinks! This jumper is also much more lightweight compared to hers.
The jumper has a ribbed neckline and sleeves, and is a cable knit design with a patterned panel design on the front which gives it a unique look and in my opnion it could pass as a Topshop product as it's so fashionable and well designed. The neckline looks high in the newlook picture of it but it's not and it's not clingy around the neck. The long sleeves aren't oversized and fit well, with intense cable knit detailing on the arms adding a cute and vintage look to the top. It's a very shabby chic looking top but as it's well fitting (if bought in your correct size), it shows off curves nicely so doesn't look manly or boyish like some cable knits can, and due to the fashionable and feminine panel design it's very obvious it is a girls top. (alot of my friends bought unisex aran jumpers when they were in fashion as they were slightly cheaper!)
The only downside of this item is the length. It comes to my waistline, so it's not the best top to wear with leggings but looks fine with jeans or even shorts as it's really versatile. I wear mine mainly with high waisted shorts and tights with the jumper, it doesn't really need tucking in due to the length. The top goes well with almost anything really and although it's more of a winter-looking product, it's lightweight enough to wear on the type of days where it's sunny but chilly.
I paid £25 for this jumper which is a bargain compared to what most shops charge. I have just checked online and the jumper is now reduced to £14 so if you're interested in getting this jumper now is the time!
I have had my jumper since november 2010 and have worn it lots. It's also been washed quite a bit and, as reccomended by newlook i always wash it at 30 degrees. It has not shrunk or bobbled, however it does seem to of lost a little shape around the neckline but it's nothing major.
Sizes available are 6-24, however as the product is on sale the smaller sizes have sold out so at the minute only 18-24's are available.
I would reccomend this jumper. Versatile, lasts well, looks good, soft/comfy and a decent price.
