“ Brand: New Look / Type: Denim Jacket „
I recently bought a sleeveless maxi dress and didn't feel quite brave enough to wear it without something over the top because I hate how big and flabby my arms look after recent weight gain, so I had a dig through my wardrobe and decided that this denim jacket would go nice with it. It is quite hard to find a jacket/long sleeved top that looks ok during summer as obviously it is never nice to know that people are staring at you because you're wearing a cardi or jacket in 30+ degree heat, but this looks lovely and summery due to the colour and it is lightweight too, so I don't feel too much like the odd one out!
I've had this jacket for a while now and I bought it in the New Look sale last year just before Christmas - I paid £10 instead of the £19.99 retail price. It's not until recently that I've actually started to wear it though, because it is well fitting so I thought I'd feel self conscious wearing it when in public and out & about but it does actually look really nice, and after a few times of wearing it it doesn't feel quite as tight and clingy, though it does fit snugly but this I actually like because it doesn't make me look bigger than I am like big oversized cardigans and jackets sometimes can do.
It is not as stiff as other denim jackets that I have tried on though and the material has a nice bit of stretch to it, though it is not too stretchy. The jacket is available in several colours including blue, pale blue and pink. The idea of a pink denim jacket would never appeal to me however the shade of pink is gorgeous, it's a light pastel pink which I love. One thing that has put me off of denim jackets in the past is that they can sometimes look a bit manly but this is very feminine because of the colour and also because of the fit.
I also like that the colour makes it a little more unique now that everyone seems to be wearing denim jackets with dresses & skirts as most of the people I've seen have been wearing the light blue ones. I was a bit worried that the colour of mine would limit what I could wear with it in case of a colour clash, however because the shade is so light and not in your face or really bright it surprisingly looks lovely with a whole range of different coloured clothes; my black maxi skirt, my blue and white maxi dress and I've also been wearing it with leggings and a long vest.
The only slight disadvantage is that because of the colour you can not really tell from a distance that it is a denim jacket, it just looks like a shirt, not really a disadvantage though as it still looks nice. The jacket is cropped and only just comes down to my waist, so sometimes I do feel like my podge is a bit exposed but I always make sure that the top I'm wearing underneath is long enough to cover my belly to avoid any embarrassment! The jacket has also got shorter sleeves than a normal denim jacket, which again makes it look that bit more feminine. The jacket has got five buttons on the front so can be buttoned up, though I prefer to wear mine open as it does feel a bit too tight when done up and it doesn't look quite right done up with a dress, and this is what I mainly wear it with.
The jacket is available in sizes eight to eighteen, and I got a size 12. I'm actually more of a small 14 so it is no surprise that the jacket is tight on me, but I don't feel like my blood supply is being cut off or anything when I'm wearing it so the sizing is actually quite generous. The jacket is made from 100% cotton and it feels good quality. It's comfortable and lightweight as the material is quite thin but it still feels durable and not flimsy. It washes well and it hasn't faded in colour, and I've washed it around five times now. I don't need to wash it that often actually - you'd think muck and stuff would show up really easy on it and that it'd start looking dirty easily because it is pale but it stays clean for ages. The jacket has two small pockets which add to the look but are not very practical as I can't imagine any woman ever putting anything in them as it would look a bit odd, well in my opinion it would anyway but it just adds to the design.
So, is there anything that I don't like about the jacket? Not really, but if I had to pick one thing I could change it would be the collar. I know that all denim jackets have collars but the one on this is a bit loose and saggy rather than stiff so t doesn't really stay in place and it needs adjusting quite a bit so that it looks right, however this isn't enough of a disadvantage to justify knocking a star off of my rating and I highly recommend this jacket!
I'd been after a pink leather jacket after seeing how nice they looked on other people. So when I was out on my recent shopping trip, I made it my mission to go and find one. Overwhelmed by all the beautiful clothes, I actually forgot that I was supposed to be looking for one and so was pleasantly surprised when I came across this pink one in New Look; it looked exactly like the one I had imagined - perfect.
To look at the jacket is a pale pink colour of denim. When in the shop, I actually thought that the sizes were very small, although this is just the way they are supposed to be. The jackets are quite short (they come just below the waist) which I was a bit put off by at first. But it turns out that it looks good like this - in fact I think it looks really fashionable compared to if it was a full size jacket. I always make sure that I am wearing a long top underneath.
The jacket is very girlie and summery and goes with 'light pastel' colours. So far I have worn it with an all white outfit (white top and trousers or with a maxi dress) and I have also worn it with a black top and black trousers. I like how the colour pink gives it a nice girlie and summer twist compared to normal denim jackets.
The jacket is quite 'stretchy' and 'elasticity' which means that it is easy to move around in and so you are not too stiff too move. The jacket is light and so perfect for cool summer nights or summer days when it isn't that hot.
I bought this denim jacket for £19.99 from New Look and think that it is excellent value for money. The jacket is of good quality and I think that I will get a lot of wear out of it. Also, it is the kind of thing that will play a part in my summer wardrobe for years/
I would definitely recommend this pink denim jacket!
