New Look is one of my favourite high street shops when it comes to buying cheap fashionable clothing. I find that I can pretty much get everything there that I want and because things are so inexpensive I can buy the latest fashions without spending a fortune and also it doesn't matter if what I have bought falls apart after a few months or suddenly becomes unfashionable.
Probably the only thing that I don't like buying from the shop is their jeans as I like to get more wear out of my jeans than I would with say a cheap t-shirt and unlike most of their things I do think with their jeans you can tell they are cheaper thanks to both the material and also the fit.
Their super skinny jeans look nice when they are hanging up but when wearing them they just don't come up to scratch compared to jeans from other high street shops such as top shop and river island. The denim is thin and also I find that it isn't very nice against my skin. It is the cheapness of the material that bothers me the most however as it is so thin that it doesn't keep its shape well at all.
When you first try on the super skinny jeans they are lovely and tight and fit great but within a few washes this changes and they no longer have that tight look and they start to sag a little at the knees and don't look quite as crisp and smart as they did when first new.
They also lose their colour so easily and I couldn't wash them with anything else as they ran in the machine and would have dyed my other clothes.
These jeans cost me 22.99 which is a little bit cheaper than they cost at Top Shop and River Island but the quality is nowhere near as good and I would rather spend that little bit more to get better quality jeans that last a bit longer as they are something that I wear a lot. Usually New Look have nice clothing that doesn't cost the earth and is decent quality for what it is but unfortunately this time the jeans let me down and weren't as good as I am used to normally with them.
Other than leggings I probably wear skinny jeans the most as I don't think you can go wrong with a pair of skinny jeans. It is actually really difficult to find the perfect pair of skinny jeans as fit is so important when it comes to wearing them.
I bought a pair from New Look as I buy a lot of my basics here and they fit me ok in the changing room but I wasn't as impressed with them when I got them home as I have been with other basics from New Look.
The material of the jeans just feels a little bit cheaper than some others but I suppose this is expected as they are a quarter the price of some other high street skinny jeans that I have bought. The jeans were ridiculously cheap at only £9.99 and when I bought them I didn't think for one moment that I would be keeping them as best as I have good skinny jeans for going out and when I need to be dressed up a bit more. These were just for having in my wardrobe to wear to the shops etc.
The jeans look ok on but I can tell that they aren't the same quality as some of my others. They fit well but I do have a problem with the knees and the bum which are slightly loose and baggy. It isn't glaringly obvious but it is something that I can notice when I am wearing them.
The black colour is nice but it fades quite quickly in the wash but I actually like that better as I think a slightly faded black jean looks nicer and more modern than jet black jeans. They look good with wedges and heels and also just with flat plimsolls.
If you wear skinny jeans a lot then I would recommend that you hunt down a better pair and pay the extra money for them but these are ok for a back up and for wearing when you are being casual and don't mind that the fit is a little bit less than perfect.
I am reviewing the super skinny jeans from New Look's inspire range, however I was told to write the review here.
When I was shopping in new look, I was looking for a comfy pair of skinny jeans to wear for everyday. I am a plus size and I find it difficult to find jeans that I like that are in my size, however New Look's inspire range of clothes are fashionable and available in a good selection of sizes and lengths.
I saw these soft, skinny jeans hanging on a hanger folded up. There is a paper label attached to each pair in the store so it's easy to find the size and length you want. They are available in sizes 18-26 and a number of different lengths for those who are taller. I tried them on and thought they were a good fit. They weren't rough denim either, they were actually quite soft. I have had pairs of skinny jeans that have been hard to get into, however these are easy to step into and pull up without the legs being overly tight.
They are quite high-rise jeans and I find they hide a tummy well without a "muffin top". I reccomend you do wear a belt with these as as you wash them I find they can become a bit looser.
Price wise, these aren't the cheapest, costing £22.99, however they can sometimes be found on special offer, and new look do a student card that you can use to get a discount.
The skinny jeans are available in several colours, I have seen them in black, blue, red and grey. I bought the red pair, then a few weeks later went back and got the blue.
I recommend these jeans if you are a plus size and struggle to get pretty jeans that fit. Just be aware that they can become a bit bigger around the waist area the more you wash them. I will probably purchase them again in different colours as New look are my favourite jeans stockist.
I wear skinny jeans all of the time - I don't even own any other type of jean - and as a student I'm always looking for good quality and an affordable price. I've always felt that New Look have offered this mid range between the pricier shops such as Topshop and the cheaper ones such as Primark. I shop in New Look all of the time and however much I try to branch out to other shops, I always end up going back there. However, I don't really rate their jeans.
These jeans come in a variety of colours: the usual black, grey and blue to more bold colours such as green, red and purple. I own them in green, khaki, purple and black. They also say that they are super skinny but they always seem to scrunch up around my ankles: this could be due to the fact that I am quite short compared to my jean size (I'm size 16) but I find that this makes them much less skinny looking and quite annoys me.
They cost around £20 and the coloured jeans are made from 67% cotton, 31% polyester, 2% elastane: compared to the ordinary black and blue shades which are 100% cotton. This is where I have a problem with them: they just don't last. The material is evidently less strong than that of normal jeans and it shows: I've had a pair in purple since around Easter and they always have holes in from wear. I don't wear those jeans excessively and was definitely expecting more wear from them! Especially since I bought them as a replacement for the same jeans that had done the same. It's safe to say I won't be buying coloured jeans from New Look again.
I have recently bought a pair of these jeans in acid wash and they seem to be made from a much stronger material and I hope they'll last better: this indicates that their coloured jeans are made from a much flimsier material. They're advertised as being 'super soft' and they are, and incredibly comfy too, but this means that they just don't last as long.
As I said, I like to look for good quality jeans for a good price and my experience with these jeans from New Look just haven't lived up to this: yes, £20 is a decent price for skinny jeans but the quality isn't worth the price. It's a better idea to just get cheap coloured jeans from Primark for closer to £10: at least with Primark jeans you aren't expecting as high quality or longevity. I think that is what I'm going to end up doing since I definitely won't be getting coloured jeans from New Look again.
I really fancied a pair of skinny jeans but I am quite conscious about my legs and have always been put off them thinking that my legs would stick out like a sore thumb if I had what I thought were tight pants on! For some reason, I decided to try these ones on in new look a few months ago - just to see if my suspicions were correct. I ended up buying a pair!
The jeans come in sizes 6 to 18 and are available in different lengths - 28 inches, 30 inches, 32 inches and 34 inches so they cater for a wide range of sizes. They are also available in a wide range of colours - the ones I've seen are dark purple, black, white, denim blue, bright blue, bright green and bright red but I think there may be additional colours to this too.
They are called 'supersoft' and this is definitely true - the fabric is soft and flexible to wear, it's not rigid and doesn't make you feel like your legs are really restricted when you walk, they feel a lot more comfortable to wear than other bootcut and straight leg jeans I've worn previously which really wasn't what I was expecting from a pair of skinny jeans. The material although soft, isn't the sort to attract hair which is a must for me as I seem to moult my locks everywhere I go! It's something that I'm a bit careful with now when buying jeans from New Look though, as they have many different styles of jeans in there. I ordered a pair of dark purple jeans, thinking they were the same range as these ones as they were also called 'skinny' but they were made of different material and I seem to attract every speck of fluff going in those ones so tend to avoid wearing them very much! I'm not sure if this means that they've changed the material that's being used to make them now or whether I just ordered incorrectly, but it's something I now definitely check in store as they all tend to look very similar (I made the mistake by buying online)
The jeans have belt loops all across the waistband so can be worn with a belt if desired. I usually do, just as the waistband doesn't seem to come up very high - I think if I didn't I'd be mooning everyone when I bent down to pick something up (not a good look)! There are also two pockets at the front and two pockets at the back although these aren't very deep really. The jeans are not extremely tight fitting but they do taper in at the bottom like with other skinny jeans. They don't taper in so much that they feel tight around my ankles though, they're just right.
The jeans cost me £19.99 back in September and having recently been in New Look, they are still this same price. This seems quite a reasonable price to me. I've been wearing them regularly ever since then - the only thing is now, the colour of the jeans has dramatically changed as the denim dye wears off them pretty quickly in the wash (so don't wash them with anything other than similar colours!). Mine were black when I bought them but are now a grey colour, my husband was in shock when I mentioned to him that they were black when I bought them because they have changed in colour so much. The colour has particularly worn away from the seams down each side of the legs.
Having said that the colour has changed, the quality of the jeans apart from that hasn't, they still feel very soft and the material hasn't bobbled or worn into bald patches. Even with the colour change, they don't look worn out. I've not had any problems with the top button coming off like I've seen previously after a few wears with jeans from other high street stores. The zip fastening that they have is also still functioning very well.
As for the 'skinny' look, this pair of jeans has totally changed my view and they are no longer the type of jeans I just dismiss. These are definitely the best skinny pair I've had so far, I think it probably helps with the ones I bought being a dark pair of jeans rather than a light coloured pair. I've bought ones since from other stores and none have been half as comfy to sit around in and do everyday things in. I'm just over 5ft 2 and I find that the 30 inch pair are exactly the right length. Having said that, with the name 'superskinny' jeans, I wouldn't recommend them to others that want really tight fitting jeans - the reason I like them so much is because they're not so tight!
These jeans really have altered my wardrobe, even though they look a bit different from I first bought them! I suppose people might think I own two different pairs!
I rate them 4 stars in total, with just a star being taken away from the colour loss they've had.
Thanks for reading :o)
It's only quite recently that I've felt confident enough to start wearing skinny jeans again since I had my son last year, and because most of the ones that I had were a size too small and quite old and worn, I decided to treat myself and buy a few new pairs.
I shop in New Look quite often and find that their clothes affordable and good quality so I decided to have a look at what jeans they had to offer and I came across these, the soft super skinny jeans which are £19.99 a pair which i thought was a good price.
I liked the style so decided to try a pair on an I ended up buying two pairs in different colours. I bought one dark blue pair and one medium blue pair and the other colour choices were black, navy, khaki and acid wash, and as far as I could see there wasn't any brighter colours apart from burgundy, but personally I was happy with the colour choice.
The style of these jeans is nothing special or out of the ordinary, they're just your average pair of skinny jeans. They have front and back pockets, belt loops, a zip & button and stitch detailing. They feel lovely and soft and are quite stretchy and comfortable. The waistband isn't elasticated, but it fits around my slight jelly belly without digging into my stomach.
The jeans are quite long and so they do look creased at the bottom unless I roll them up. I'm only 5 foot 2 though so for taller people this wont be a problem. They also crease a little at the knees and are really tight around my thighs and calves but have a slight baggyness around my ankles, but it isn't really noticeable!
The jeans are comfortable and although they are very tight, they don't make me feel restricted or uncomfortable, or like they're going to rip at any minute like some skinny jeans can do! They are quite thick and good quality - they are mainly made from cotton with a little elastane to give the, a bit of stretch. The jeans are easy to style, I wear my darker blue ones casually and my lighter blue ones can be dressed up slightly, they look particularly nice with a pastel shade chiffon blouse and a pair of nude heels.
The jeans come in sizes 6 to 18 and i have them in my usual size, which is a 12. They fit well and arent too tight or anything. The jeans wash really well but I've noticed already after about 2 months that the stitching around the pockets is starting to become frayed and a bit tatty looking, however they've not faded in colour or lost their shape or anything and I'd recommend them.
As always in the January sales I went in the shops in the hope of some kind of fab discount. In my usual culprit store - New Look I managed to find some lovely green Super Skinny Jeans for £7! I quickly dashed to try them on and was happy with a bargain so headed straight to the till.
Luckily they come in usual sizing and I got a size 10 which fit perfectly. The jeans are really nice quality, which feel soft and quite stretchy. Being a skinny fit they cling quite well to my legs, not too much so I can't breathe but enough so that they look on trend and go well with all kinds of footwear.
The jeans are really versatile and I can wear them with boots, converses, shoes, sandals anything. I have worn them with various outfits on various occasions and they go really well. My only gripe is the material can feel quite itchy and in order to wear them I have to wear tights underneath as I do not really like the feel of the jeans against my bare legs. The material didn't look that cheap when I bought them nor did it feel so (probably not ideal that when I first tried them on I was wearing tights!) but in comparison to my Topshop jeans they are not as soft and comfortable in comparison.
In terms of washing, I have washed them in the washing machine on 30 degrees and let them dry on a clothes airer (not so fortunate to have a tumble dryer sadly!) and after a few washes they do actually still look as bright as before and the material has not lost any of it's elasticity.
I do really like these jeans and for a bargain £7 I can't complain too much but I have now fallen in love with Topshop jeans instead so I don't really see me buying another pair from New Look. At normal price, these jeans costs anywhere between £19.99-£29.99 on average, and for this price they are decent but they are nowhere near as soft and comfortable as Moto Leigh Jeans. Overall these are nice simple jeans just not my favourite.
My son is now over a year old and last year a few months after the birth I decided it was time to look for some new jeans. I was still breastfeeding and the weight was falling off and my maternity jeans were getting a bit too big and baggy and were not flattering anymore so I wanted to get some new ones.
I hate shopping for jeans, they are one clothes item that you have to get just right as most look awful on me and I find you need to try on a lot of pairs to find one that fits properly. I was thinking I might have to spend quite a bit of money to find a decent pair so I didn't think I would find them in New Look.
We have quite a large decent New Look in our local town as I find the merchandise does differ from store to store depending on the local clientele. I wanted some jeans that you could wear with boots so I was on the lookout for skinny jeans. It's funny because years ago I would have never dreamed of wearing skinny jeans but now they are definitely in fashion and really suit my body type. I like to wear them tucked into boots but I also think they look good with heels for a night out and ballet flats for a more casual look.
I was really excited to find these jeans in New Look, especially as they only cost £19.99 which is a real bargain. They have different colours but I went for the dark navy as I think this is definitely flattering and covers up and lumps and bumps you may have and also thins down my child bearing thighs!
The jeans are made of a soft denim and are quite giving although they are not stretchy jeans. They move with my body which is nice but are not so tight that they cut off the circulation. The jeans have a button fastening and also a zip. I find they sit just around the middle of my belly so they conceal my mummy tummy quite well and don't cut into me around the middle which is nice. There are loops for a belt which is nice too as I find I need one because I fluctuated between a size 10 and 12 and need a bit of support from a belt. The jeans I have are a size 12 which is why I need a belt.
The legs come into a nice tapered finish and have a few wrinkles in them at the bottom because I got a size 32 leg instead of a 30 but I think this looks nice when you have flats on rather than just a straight leg. They fit well into boots and don't need tucking in or anything like that because they are skinny.
There are two small pockets either side which lie flat against your body so they don't bulk out the jeans which is nice. I can fit the top of my hands in here as I like to stand with my hands in my pockets. You can also fit a small set of keys or loose change in them too. The right hand pocket also has a mini pocket at the top too. On each butt cheek there is a pocket at the back too. Again, these sit flush against my bum and don't bulk out which is great as this is the last place I want to look bulky!!
I've been impressed as how well these jeans have kept their shape. They haven't gone baggy at the knees which a lot of skinny jeans seem to do. I've worn these constantly for about a year now and because of the dark colour I think they are showing a bit of wear. The knees have discoloured a bit and around the crotch area they are starting to pull and go a bit grey as the colour and fabric wears away if you know what I mean. However, for a £20 pair of jeans I can't ask for more. I can see them lasting for quite a bit longer even if they don't look brand new anymore but bear in mind I am down on my hands a knees alot, running after two kids so they definitely have been put through their paces.
I've always washed them at 30 degrees, inside out so they keep their colour and never put them in the tumble dryer, I just hang them up to dry. They have washed well and never shrunk or anything.
A great pair of New Look jeans!
I've always found it difficult to find a pair of jeans that fit me. Being a petite hourglass shape, and just over five foot tall, most jeans are either too long in the leg, too small at the hips or too big on my thighs.
However, last time I went jeans shopping I tried this pair from New Look and they were fantastic. The fit is perfect despite my awkward shape, and they come with a variety of different leg lengths, meaning that, with the exception of the very tall or the very short, most people should be able to find a pair that are the right length. In addition to fitting well, these jeans are a lot more comfortable than many other pairs that I've tried in the past.
The colour is a lovely dark blue, which has stayed fairly constant despite the jeans being put through the wash. I don't wear them that often as I generally prefer to wear skirts and dresses, but they have lasted a while without showing any signs of wear and tear.
Price wise, these jeans retail at £10, although New Look also offer a 10% discount for students. This means that, as well as being fashionable, comfortable and well fitting, they are also cheap. I'd definitely recommend them for all these reasons - they have proven themselves to be a very worthwhile investment.
I bought a pair of these jeans as I wanted a pair of skinny jeans to wear with my boots. I tried them on and they seemed to fit. They were skinny and were the right length so I bought them.
After I got them home, I wore them (obviously) and at first they still fitted. Then, after about 2 hours, they seemed to become a little bit loser than they were when I bought them. They then didn't look like skinny jeans at all. If anything, they probably looked like boyfriend jeans - a look I do not personally like.
I thought I would wash them and see if they would shrink a bit and they did. This was fine and again I thought this would only last for about 2 hours. It did. The only other problem is that they faded very quickly. The first time I washed them they became a very pale but still wearable.
With having to wash them every 2 hours to keep them skinny, this is obviously not working and with them also fading quickly, they would wear out so quickly. I kept them for about 2 weeks and ended up putting them in the bin because they looked about 3 years old and I had only just bought them.
I would say - do not buy them. Go elsewhere for skinny jenas
Ive always loved skinny jeans. The fit me really well because Im skinny, but a few years ago I was much skinnier and the jeans were slightly baggy. I used to have to buy a smaller size, so that they fitted better around the bum and legs, but was really tight around the waist. Then one day I was looking through the Dorothy Perkins sale and I came across 'Super Skinny' jeans. I thought 'WOW', they sound great. So I bought them straight away and ever since then Ive always bought Super Skinny and wouldnt go back to skinny jeans.
Every so often I go on the search bars on clothes site, and type in Super Skinny. It always comes up with nice looking jeans. I did it on the New Look website and came across quite a few in different colours. I decided not to buy them online for once and go to a bigger New Look store. I went to Gainsborough where the New Look is much bigger than the Grantham store. I bought two sets of jeans. In size 8, they were both £20. I also bought some other bits. I decided not to try the jeans on because I didnt think they wouldnt fit. I got the jeans home.
The next day I put on one of the sets of jeans. It was a navy colour. Quite dark blue, which were my favourite pair out of the two. I thought they fitted really tightly which is just what I wanted. They go really nicely with my UGG boots or my red ballet pumps. I love wearing super skinny jeans, they are the best fit! The next day I tried on the other pair of jeans. These were a lighter blue, Ive really grown to like them, at first I prefered the darker pair but now I prefer these ones. These seems not at tight which I didnt like. They had a small hole in the seem on the side of one leg which I didnt notice at the shop. I was dissapointed about that but I didnt want the hassel of taking them back.
Everytime I wash these (just a normal wash), when I put them on they seem really tight. Its like they go back to there original shape. I love these jeans. The colour isnt as intense as when I first bought them but they still look great. I wear these all the time. They can be quite difficult to get on and off sometimes. The zip on these can be quite stiff sometimes and on one of the pairs the zip comes down by itself. The pockets are a good size, I can fit my phone and keys in them. They do feel like if I put anything slightly sharp in there it would tear the pockets.
Becuase I really liked these I decided to buy more, I wanted another set but in a different colour. So I went on the New Look website and bought some. When they came I realised I had already got this pair! Because I bought the other pair in the shop I didnt notice they were the same. I decided to keep them though. They actually fit even better than the others because the leg size is shorter (28inches). I didnt realise you could choose the leg size, I just thought they were all the same. My otehrs are either 30 or 32 inches.
I really recommend these jeans to anyone, Ive recently gained weight in the last year and they still fit and look amazing! £20 is good for a pair of jeans as well. I literally wear these every day, in winter and in shabby summer!
