I bought this skirt as a school skirt a couple of years ago. It was just as a temporary school skirt for the last couple of months of school and then I was planning on wearing it just as a plain black tube skirt to go with colourful shirts.
I bought it for about £8 in New Look, which was a rather good buy, seeing as a plain black tube skirt in Topshop was about £15 at the time, and they now don't even stock a plain black tube skirt.
It is a tight fitting skirt which does bunch up a little bit on the stomach where its not so tight. I have found that it can ride up when I'm walking which can be a little irritating as I have to pull it down occasionally , but its not as bad as other tube skirts I have, where they ride up ridiculously badly and I'm constantly pulling it down.
One thing I have found with the skirt is that there is something weird inside the material, and it feels bumpy and lumpy. I think it's probably just fluff, but it does feel weird to touch. However, I must say that you can't see it, so its not really a problem. You can't feel it on your legs though, so it doesn't irritate or anything.
The skirt feels great on, its very comfortable to wear and its not a bother. Its very flattering and gives you a nice curvy shape, and you can wear it with or without tights. Its very versatile and because its black and tight fitting it goes with pretty much everything.
A good skirt for the price, easy to wear and the only downsides are the bumpy fluff and the fact that it rides up occasionally
I was doing an order on the New Look website a few months ago when I came across this tube skirt. It was reduced from something like £8 to £3 which of course was an absolute bargain and not one to be turned down! The only colour available for that price was biscuit so that's the colour I ordered. I opted for a size 10 as although I am a little bigger than usual at the moment the skirt is quite stretchy.
When the skirt arrived I was pleased with my purchase. I love the colour and to be honest I'm glad it was the only colour available because usually I would opt for something else.
The skirt is quite soft but at the same time it does look smart and could be worn to work. I always pair mine with some opaque black tights and I like the look this gives.
A few people have commented that they like my skirt and I do think its quite versatile. I mainly prefer to dress mine down wearing it with my uggs or flat boots but it could be glammed up with heels for a night out but for that you'd probably want a different colour.
When wearing it it comes about halfway down my thigh and it doesn't ride up. The material provides you with the perfect fit as it clings to your body and I was really surprised by how comfortable the skirt was.
I have washed the skirt a few times now, usually on a 40 degree cycle and it has always washed fine, the colour hasn't faded, it hasn't shrunk or become baggy and there are no bobbles either!
I think this skirt is a brilliant wardrobe essential and I will definitely be buying a couple of other colours even at full price as they are comfortable and look good too. Recommended.
Like most people I love to bag myself a bargain and a shop that I have only just really became acquainted with is New Look and I've nabbed myself some really good bargains from there recently thankfully and this was one of them.
I bought this skirt in a really light pink colour reduced from £7.99 to just £4.00 and this skirt I spotted in black, white and navy in the store though they were not in the sale at the time.
The skirt is available in sizes 6-18 and in my opinion are very true to size. They are pull on and off style and very plain with no pockets and are meant to be a snug fit.
Made from 92% Cotton and 8% Elastane this has a nice stretchy feel to it and its well made and thick so you cant see through it. The top of the skirt its stretchy and elasticated, great for more bloated days ladies and it tapers to your figure.
This is a short skirt, I'm 5.8 in height and its well above my knees but not indecent and I don't find that it rides up all the time but I do have to be in a confident mood to wear this one due to its short length but its a lovely quality skirt this one and I can dress it up or down depending on my mood.
Its also easy to care for. Its machine washable and suitable for tumble drying and ironing though I never iron mine as its a tightish fit on me and hugs to my body so the creases and wrinkles fall completely out anyway.
All in all I love my bargain buy skirt and I would never usually go for a pink skirt but I'm really, really glad that I did and will deffo buy myself a plain black one next time I'm in the store!
Only available from New Look.
I have had a number of these skirts over a few years in a variety of colours. They are a great fit and length, not too short but not too long, and mostly they are great value. I think I paid around £7-£8 for all of mine and they have all lasted very well. So far none of them have ripped or gotten holes and they have all stayed in shape. They do stretch abit, which I found from wearing the week long to school, but once they have been washed they go back into the same shape they were. The first one of these skirts I bought was a few years go and was black and I found that after a few months it faded considerably. Since then I have had about 3 more black ones and they have all remained the same colour luckily so fading isn't really a worry. Im sure I probably just didn't read the washing instructions properly causing it to fade in the wash. These are great skirts to simply just throw on with a top and some sandals in the summer or when paired with a pair of thick tights are easily warm enough to wear in autumn and winter. These skirts are great to wear whenever, whether you're at work, going out for an evening or just during the day and at the price they are its cheap enough to be able to buy them in a variety of colours.
These skirts are very popular with me and my friends. I first bought the skirt a couple of years ago to wear for school. It is very flattering and comfortable, I especially love the band at the top giving a high wasted effect. However after only one wear the skirt stretched and was no longer as figure hugging as it was when purchased. After washing it returned back to being figure hugging but the problem still persisted after every wear, although as long as you wash it regularly it should be fine. However, regular washing has caused the skirt to fade quite a bit in colour, although this is only noticable when wearing a top which is also black, so it still looks nice with any other colour. Taking all of this into consideration I still very much like the skirt and will continue to wear it, though for anyone thinking about buying it in the future I do recommend getting a size smaller so it won't stretch as much :)
Tube skirts are a modern fashion must have and they are a staple for any wardrobe in the way which jeans and leggings have been. They flatter any shape, creating a smooth shape and for a while Newlook was one of the main contenders in offering these skirts, when they first came out everyone knew their best bet to be able to buy a variety of colours was Newlook. Newlook have managed to keep this reputation but a shop around will find cheaper, longer lasting and more flattering skirts available.
For anyone who is a size 6-10 this skirt HAS to be bought in a smaller size (impossible for those who are a size six) or they simply do not fir properly around the waist. The skirt will not fall down and so is fine with longer tops where the waist is covered but for belly tops or vests it is clear that while the skirt is a good fit elsewhere it is not well fitting there. For those over a size ten the waist will sit fine but the back of the skirt will have a tendency to be smooth over the bottom and the stick out somewhat. Better fitting skirts can be found elsewhere. Newlook does still have the best choice in colours and so in some cases the skirt can be a good option, a helpful tip is to take the top you plan to wear it with to the shop and try the skirt on in a couple of sizes, that way you can see how it is going to look on.
The same style of skirt can be found for £2.99 in H&M, much cheaper than the Newlook version it fits better and lasts much longer. Having wore both skirts in a variety of colours I have found that the Newlook skirts fade after a few washes where the H&M versions are still going strong! Primark and other shops such as Republic have also been selling these skirts in a variety of fabrics and colours. Where Newlook does beat the competition is that it has also been selling there skirts in their tall, plus size and maternity ranges making this style available to all women.
I got this tube skirt for christmas and it looks amazing on for so many reasons and you can wear in for work or play, i found that it hides all this lumps and bumps and makes you look smaller especially on the waist. However if you don't like clothes that cling to you body then i would avoid it as it does just that, overall great piece of clothing to add to your wardrobe.
I have this skirt in the denim look, plain black and the bright red and paid £7.99 for each of them. At the time of purchasing, I thought these skirts were very good value for money, especially as I had been looking everywhere for them and could only find similar styles for twice the price. I like that there is a huge array of colours to choose from and that they are very versatile, which means they go with everything. I think tube skirts are really handy for when you don't have much time to play around with different outfits; just put on a top and the tube skirt and you're good to go. It never fails to complete an outfit. The downside is that, although it is a thicker material than the H&M tube skirt, the material has a tendency to bobble, especially my denim version which is quite worn now. Also, as it is 'double- layered', there is a tendency for the material to fold up and not align properly, which makes the skirt look quite scruffy after a few wears.
I originally bought this skirt after recieving a voucher for New Look as an easter present as I thought that it would be a good staple item to add to my wardrobe as it can be worn with almost anything for both casual and more dressy/going out occassions.
I bougth this Skirt in Black for £7.99, although it is available in various different colours. It is made of 95% Cotton and 5% Elastane and feels like its made of good quality materials and is actually quite thick as apposed to being thin and flimsy like a lot of skirts I have seen in the shops recently. The skirt has a body con style to it and so is quite tight fitting, allowing it to show off your womanly curves and is also rather short, on me it comes to about mid thigh and I'm only 5ft 2". There is quite a tall waistband to the skirt which I tend to fold over otherwise it can become a little baggy looking around the waist which is really noticable if you are wearing a top tucked into the skirt.
Since purchasing this skirt I have worn it several times, mostly for casual daytime use with leggings or tights and a simple top with boots or flat shoes but have also worn it on a couple of nights out with tights or just bare legs and some killer heels and I have to say that it looks good with any of these combinations. It is such an easy item to dress up or down just by adding the right accessories. I have washed this skirt after each time I have worn it and it is still in brilliant condition, the lable on the skirt advises to wash at 30 degrees which is what I wash the majority of my clothes on anyway and it seems to wash it fine without causing the material to look worn and faded.
Overall I think this is a must have item for any womans wardrobe as it is so versatile and is perfect for so many occasions, plus with it being a black skirt it is a timeless item that will always be in fashion! An added bonus is that it is such a bargain at only £7.99, definitely worth the money!
I brought this skirt from New Look two years ago and paid around £5 for it. I have seen these recently in my local New Look store but am not sure if the price has changed recently.
I originally picked this skirt up to wear for a job interview as it looks great with a blouse, blazer, black tights and heels. It is quite short and when people saw me heading to my interview, they told me I would not get the job as I did not look appropriate. Just for the record, I did get the job and a lot of people told me that I looked very smart!
As well as looking professional when worn with smart clothing, this skirt looks good when worn with a plain vest top for casual wear or something a little dressier for nights out. I tend to wear mine underneath short dresses now so that I am not conscious that my bum is out all night, and it is perfect for the job!
As I said, I have had this skirt for two years now and have washed it too many times to count! But it still looks just as good as when I first brought it, the colour hasn't faded and the skirt has not gone out of shape at all.
I have lost weight since buying this skirt so it falls down all the time now and I can only wear it under something very tight  but that is not a fault of the skirt. However, I would recommend buying this skirt a size smaller than you usually would to ensure it is tight enough to stay up all day/night. I did this originally and had no problems with it and know a few people who have done the same thing.
I think this skirt comes in a range of colours at different times of the year but New Look always seem to have it in stock in black. I have the skirt in black and it is perfect for all seasons. I can wear it with tights and a vest top in the summer; it is very thin and lightweight so keeps me nice and cool. But I can also wear it with a hoody and boots in the winter and be warm enough to walk around.
I do see this skirt as a wardrobe essential as it can be worn with pretty much anything and at any time of the year. The material is long lasting and can be washed hundreds of times and not wear down in the slightest.
If you do not fancy paying £5+ for a plain black skirt, Primark also sell these for around £2. My sister has the Primark version of this skirt and says it is exactly the same as her New Look one, however, the do not stock them as often as New Look do.
To be honest, I am happy paying the New Look price as £5 is nothing for a skirt that will last you years!
I decided to buy this as I was searching for a skirt for college and had tried many shops before New Look and just couldn't seem to find one that I really liked. When I came across this, I absolutely loved it as the design and length was perfect for what I wanted (something that didn't look cheap and tacky but more professional).
The top part of the skirt is elasticated, I tend to wear this skirt around my waist as it defines my waist making me look a little curvier and tends to ends a few inches above the knee which is the exact length I like it at. The bottom part is made from a cotton material, the skirt is quite fitting and tends to show off my figure in all the right places (bum and hips). It is available in many colours, but I decided to go for the black one, as my uniform for college is black.
The skirt is gorgeous, and emphasises my curves in the right ways, it really flatters my figure well which is what I like the most about the skirt. Its also ideal if you wanted to wear with a smart shirt or blouse for going out for a meal, or if you wanted to go out on the town. I also think it looks great with a belt around the top of the skirt, adding extra detail. It is of lovely quality and I am very pleased with my purchase. It goes excellent with my college uniform and look great with black tights! For college I tend to wear this with my tunic going over the top of the skirt as it would look silly the other way around. But when going out, I tend to wear a shirt or blouse and tuck it in and add a belt to give it that extra WOW factor.
I bought this skirt for £7.99 which is very cheap for the quality of the product. It is available in sizes 6-18 so great for every shape and size. The colours available are Black, White, Coral, Beige and Navy blue and white.
I have had this about a month and washed it a few times, its easy to wash as you can put it in with your normal dark wash and not have to worry about it getting ruined or going bobbly. Does look best when worn around the waist, as this is where it shows and emphasises your natural curves.
Overall a fantastic cheap gorgeous skirt price for excellent quality! I will be going back and purchasing the navy and white one!
The first thing I love most about this skirt is the fit. Having rather wide hips with a smaller waist Mini skirts haven't really done it for me in the past but this product is fantastic!
Because it is made out of 100% cotton it hugs any figure beautifully and for me it flatters my hips perfectly.
The second thing I love about this product is it's versatility. I can wear it to the pub one day and to work another. Due to it being one plain block colour the combinations are virtually infinite. I personally like to match it with a cute vest and denim shirt with a waist belt with tights and some boots or pumps. This gives off a casual look but also looks like I've made an effort.
It's also wonderful for nights out and you don't have to go splashing out on an expensive new dress everytime! Instead grab a fancy top and some accessories and stick on your skirt with some cute heels and you're all set to go!
It is also extremely comfortable so again is suitable for any situation since you don't have buttons digging into you all the time.
This skirt is an absolute must have fashion basic and a lifesaver if you need to look tidy in a hurry!!
While I have a few days off work Im going to attempt to get my product suggestions done - some (like this one) have been sitting in the list for weeks and as Ive just added a load more I thought it was about time I got the old ones written! Now in the summery weather I need 2 things from my clothes - they need to look good and keep me cool so Im always on the lookout for floaty dresses and the like which is why it was so odd that Id pick this 'New Look Tube Skirt' as it is more fitted than the style Id normally go for, for warm weather but I fell in love with it straight away and straight into my basket it went. Im so glad I did because Ive been getting so much use out of mine lately - Im even thinking of buying more in different colours, its THAT nice!
Stockists: New Look & newlook.com
Sizes: This skirt is available in sizes 6-18 so everyone will be able to fit a flattering fit here.
Colours: This is currently available in White, Black, Beige & Coral. I however personally own this skirt in Navy & White stripes to fit in with my nautical theme - so thats the skirt I will be reviewing here.
Other Info: Length 37cm - this skirt is designed to be worn slightly higher than normal (on my waist I find it looks best) so its worth thinking about the length. This is made from 100% cotton and New Look advise you wash this on a 30 degree setting which I have to agree with as any higher and the colours would run.
*I bought this in a size 10 just to be sure that it would fit - and although it DOES fit if I had my chance again Id probably go a size smaller. So buy a size smaller than your average and you should be fine - and you'll feel so slim!!*
This skirt in reality does look exactly like the one in the image (although mines a different colour) so if your buying online you wont be disappointed - what you see is what you get. The design of this is simply stunning and it will actually flatter any figure surprisingly. The top part of the skirt is elasticated so I like to wear this higher than a normal skirt and let it sit just underneath my chest as I think it flatters my figure the best that way but I dont see why this couldnt be worn as normal sitting on your hips, it would just be too long for me to feel comfortable in that way (I have quite long legs!!). The bottom part is made from a cotton material and while it is just as fitted and snug as the top I feel like the bottom has a little more wiggle room - it is tight around the areas I want to show off ie. bum and a bit looser on my legs which definitely flatters my figure better than a shapeless floatier skirt.
As I mentioned mine is ever so slightly different to the one in the image as mine is white and mavy striped and on the elasticated part there is 4 gold buttons with little anchors on them which makes this fit in with the nautical theme even more and I love that bit of added detailing - it saves this from being a very plain skirt I think. The fit of this on my weight is perfect and shockingly it actually fits on my height as well - with most clothes Ive found its one or the other with me, I think I have an odd body shape! I wear this higher up than other skirts so I thought it might not cover everything as much as Id like but this comes down to about the middle of my thigh so its the perfect length I reckon. It shows off a bit of flesh without making me appear a bit trampy and my bottom is perfectly covered at all times which is always brilliant. Another brilliant thing is the stripes - as they are length ways accross they actually help make you appear slimmer and taller - this skirt is like a little magical piece it will flatter literally any figure honestly which isnt something Id often say about any piece of clothing.
The colours and detailing of this skirt are all quite neutral so it means it can be worn with any colours or styles - although it looks brilliant if you mix it with other nautical pieces, bright reds and mavys are always a good bet. This skirt is great for casual or nightwear - a pair of flats and a simple vest for the daytime is perfect for this kind of weather or it can be dressed up a little bit with chunky heels and a nice blouse for nightwear so its a very versatile piece - Ive been getting tonnes of use out of it over the last few months for literally any occassion. Also as far as I can tell this skirt is very high quality - as long as you follow the washing guidlines anyway. All of the buttons are still intact, the colours havent run and are as bright as usual and I can see no signs of wear at all and considering how often Ive been wearing this thats a brilliant thing for me. 1000% worth the money I paid for it and I would recommend this to literally anybody - even if its not usually your style - as this will flatter any figure and its very fashionable as well. Im going back to buy the Black one soon!
Thanks For Reading.

When I first saw this skirt in New Look I instantly wanted it. I just loved the figure hugging shape and thought that it looked super sexy, but in a more subtle way than say a mini skirt would. Its not too short yet you can still show off most of your legs as it still comes to above the knees. Also as this hugs close to the bum, you still get to show off your curves. My best body features are my legs and bum so I love the shape of this and thats one of the reasons why I love it so much. It is suitable for this reason for evening wear, and you could wear it to go clubbing with heels. But you can also get away with wearing it in the day. It would even be suitable in most work places. So it is definitely a skirt you will get good use of, I'm hardly ever out of it!
The picture provided makes the skirt look more boring than it really is, as it just shows it in black. It is in fact available in a much wider variety of colours than this, ranging from creams to pinks as well as duller shades like the black shown. There's enough shades there to suit most outfits. The black shown would probably be the most versatile so if its the shape you love this would make a great addition to most wardrobes as it will match with so many different outfits and go for lots of different occassions.
The price is another fantastic aspect about this skirt. Can you believe that it only costs £7.99! I thought it was going to be at least double this. Its such a bargain. In fact I was so pleasantly surprised by the price that I treated myself to two of these; now I have one in cream and one in black. Cream is nice and summery to be worn with floral tops or plain white vests in the sun, and black is what I wear sometimes to go out in the evenings.
The quality is always acceptable from New Look in my experience. It may not be the most durable but it is good enough, it is especially good enough for the price. I am soooo happy with the skirts and they have lasted me almost a year now so I would definitely recommend them.
In the past couple of years, tube skirts have become high in fashion, and are seen as a necessary staple in many people's wardrobes. I think they are fantastic as they are plain, fit nicely and you can work around them easily. After experimenting with a few, I opted to purchase the tube skirt from New Look because for a great high street fashion store, they are only priced at £7.99 which I think is excellent value for money, and is one of the main reasons in which I picked one up.
Another reason is that they are available in such a wide range of colours. There is currently cream, black, chestnut, mid pink and coral shades available online at www.newlook.co.uk, however I have seen a wider range of shades in store. Mine is a pale blue colour and looks perfect when paired with a white or black top.
These tube skirts are available in sizes 6-16, and I find that they do fit nicer than any other tube skirts I have previously purchased. They hold on to your figure making it look curvy and very feminine, therefore making it perfect to wear for a night out teamed with a pretty top. However, it is also excellent for casual wear in the summer as you they are long enough to reach just before your knees, dependent on the length you are wanting it.
One of my favourite things about these skirts is that it gives you the opportunity to experiment with a range of different tops, shoes and accessories, as it pretty much goes with anything.
I have now had mine for just over a year, and I still wear it today. It is very durable and no string is hanging or no stitches have come undone. As we are approaching summer, I would urge you ladies to go and check these out, as they are very figure flattering!
They are easy to iron and do not crease easily throughout the day. I would definitely recommend that you go to New Look if you are interested in purchasing a tube skirt, as I have tried various retailers from Matalan and Primark through to Topshop, and I still feel that New Look come out on top.
