Gotta love a cardigan! Another essential every day piece, can be worn over a dress, pair of jeans, can be worn up or down and are in so many different styles! New Look's V Neck cardigan is not only suitable for every body shape but is also great for the bigger busted lady, who needs a bid of extra space up top. I should know, I am one of them! Cardigans can be a tricky piece to wear if you are big busted because of the way they sit on your body, it can make you look like you are wearing something too small for you, or that you just don't have a waist! However, a V Neck cardigan is flattering because it's fitted. It's cut that so where it sits on your bust, there's extra space. At £12.99 it can be a bit costly for an every day piece, especially when there are cheaper versions of the same product. If the cardigan was a bit more patterned, or unique then yes I would pay it because it is still a great cost. Also, the option of colours is not that varied. So you have to wear this over a statement piece, rather than the cardigan being a statement piece itself.
On my very first online haul from New Look online I picked one of these cardigans in salmon to wear for work, and soon I bought more. Design / quality These are really just standard long sleeve v-neck cardigans. I own three and two of them have gold rim metal buttons where the last one just has plain plastic ones. I think the latter may have been from an old collection. These cardigans have a really good weight to name, which tells me of the quality. There is a stretch to them, which means they fit really nicely but I often roll the sleeves up and this can often ruin cardigans but there isn't an issue with that here. I have had dozens of wears out of my cardigans and they have never come into holes but there is a little wear and tear (sight rub marks) on the oldest one. But I would expect that. Colours I own three colours Salmon Pale Pink Navy Blue There is not a massive range of colours. I have seen a tan, a black, a white and a red but no more. This is is fairly disappointing as I find New Look's normally wide range of colours is not present here. This is a shame as for the price range these are the best cardigans available. The colours do not wash or transfer in the wash, this can often happen with darker cardigans but there isn't even a hint of this here. Price as Availability The price of these is just £9.99 and often there are sales where these drop down by £2, this is value. These are available on New Look online and in store and as always I would recommend that you go online to get the most choice. These cardigans also go up to a size 18, but I have only seen this online. Conclusion These cardigans are brilliant, good quality, nice colours and amazing value for money. It is just a shame there is not the normal standard of colour choice.
When the summer months began I went out shopping to find some cooler clothes as my chunky knits and cardys were not suitable for the warmer weather. I came across some cardys in new look priced at 9.99 each. The cardys were woollen yet thin enough to be worn in the warmer weather and they came in sizes from 6-18. The cardys available were in an assortment of colours to fit in with the summer time but also plain for the not so brave. I noticed a few weeks back that these cardys also come in the striped variety. I have bought 2 cardys one being white and the other being yellow. The white cardy: I purchased this choice as I love white clothing, it looks clean and fresh and goes with any colour outfit. The first thing I noticed was the fit. I shop at new look often and I know my size but on this occasion, the cardy felt a little tight for comfort hence me being a bit self conscious to wear it. The yellow cardy: learning by the first cardy I actually bought a bigger size yet when I got it home it was too big so off I went to get my usual size confident I had lost a little weight and feeling rather pleased with myself. When I got home I tried on my white cardy again to see that it was indeed to tight. My point is that one cardy was too small yet the exact same size in another fitted perfectly. The cardys look lovely on and have a bottoned front and a long v neck which adds to the design.the cardy comes down to the waist so it is nice and short and would be considered a day time cardy. I think for the price this item is very good and it washes well too, retaining its shape and colour however when purchasing, I would definitely recommend trying it on for size.
I've got quite a lot of cardigans but most of them are cable knit ones which are quite thick and best suited to being worn in winter. I decided to start stocking up on new summer clothes a few weeks back and spotted these cardigans on New Looks website. Although I hadn't initially planned on buying any more cardigans I decided to get one because it looked like an ideal little cardi to throw on over a vest or strapless dress on chilly summer evenings to keep me warm. I paid £12.99 for this cardigan which is a really good price in my opinion consdering how versatile it is and it also feels and looks (minus the buttons) like it's good quality. Primark sell identical cardigans to this for around half the price, however I'd rather pay that bit more for a good quality and long lasting cardigan rather than wasting my money on a cardi that falls apart within a few weeks! The cardigan is available in a very wide range of colours - there are the basics - black or grey as well as a few bright, summery colours including red and purple. I got this cardigan in red as bright colour block is really in fashion this summer. It's a bright post box red which is very eye catching and it goes with almost any outfit, although I obviously make sure that I don't wear a red top underneath. The cardigan is really basic in design - long sleeves, five pastic buttons down the front and a deep V neck. I usually buy scooped necked cardigans as for some reason I always think that V necks are manly but because I wear this open rather than done up it doesn't really matter. I hated the cheap looking plastic buttons that came on the cardigan and cut them off. The edges of the sleeves have a ribbed finish and the cardigan is very well fitting; it's not an oversized or boxy cardigan and it's clingy, which I do like but it can make it a little awkward when layering over a loose fitting tee shirt or vest. The cardigan isn't very long and it comes down to the waistband of my jeans - I'm only 5'3ish so it will probably look almost cropped if you are taller. Sizes available are 6-18. The cardigan is lightweight but not paper thin and it gives me a little extra warmth when there's a chilly breeze. The material is soft, smooth and very comfortable. It's made of 74% viscose, 26% nylon and can be machine washed. Since buying mine I have washed it around four times and I've found that it dries quite quickly and there have been no issues with the colour fading or the shape shrinking/changing. Overall, this is a basic but good quality, durable and comfy cardigan which I do reccommend, however I knock one star off due to the ugly plastic buttons.
I needed a black cardigan to go with an outfit, so the first place I thought I would try was New Look. I was in here a few weeks ago and noticed that they had a range of different cardigans in many different colours and was hoping that they would have a black one, luckily enough they did. The cardigan cost me £9.99 and is available from a size 6 up to a size 16. They have a great range of different colours to choose from including black, white, turquoise, coral, rich purple, jade and yellow. The cardigan is 80% cotton & 20% nylon with a deep V neck and front button fastening. The cardigan also has rib knit cuffs and waistband. I am normally a size 6/8 in tops, so I purchased a size 10 in the cardigan, this was so I could wear the cardigan over other tops without it feeling or looking too tight. I wore the cardigan over a white shirt and it was a perfect fit. The cardigan fitted over the shirt, without it feeling too tight around the waistband or under the arms. I still had plenty of room to move around and the cardigan was stretchy so stretched with me when I moved. The cardigan wasn't too thick; how-ever it did keep me nice and warm as the sleeves are a long length. The cardigan looks very nice when buttoned up, but it also looks great unbuttoned for a more casual look with jeans. The cardigan can be machine washed and I find that it washes very well even at 30 degrease so long as there are no stains on it. I always leave the cardigan to dry over the radiator or to dry outside. The cardigan has been washed a few times now and the colour hasn't yet faded and it always washes and dries beautifully. I am very tempted to buy a few other colours of the cardigans as they are great for taking out when the weather is warmer instead of having to take a thin jacket. I would recommend this great cardi to everyone due the fantastic range of colours and the good quality. I give this product 5 out of 5 stars. (review may also appear on ciao)
