      Lovely, versatile dress.

Wanting to step a little out of my comfort zone, I opted for this gorgeous jacquard zip dress from Next. It is certainly quite bold and striking which is not the norm for me when choosing new clothes. I tend to like the clothes from Next as they are always of a consistent quality, if sometimes a little badly sized. This dress appealed to me mainly due to the colour, price tag and pattern.

It is available in three different colours which are a hot pink, black or red. The red was not in store when I picked out this dress or else I probably would have gone for that. Therefore given the choice of hot pink or black I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for the shocking pink, as it is something a little different and quirky. When I say it is hot pink, I mean hot pink, therefore you have to be quite a daring character to go for this. Despite it, I do love the shade as I am extremely girly.

Another great thing about this dress is the jacquard pattern of it. It has a very faint, checked effect to it which is not entirely noticeable until you get right up close, but it gives the dress some dimension and allows it to stand out. Due to it being quite a thick, sturdy fabric, there is also an underlay to the dress which helps to keep it in place, as well as making it much more comfortable, as it could be a little itchy without it.

The dress itself personally comes to just above my knee. I am 5"4 so I would say that is around standard, however unusually I do not believe that this is available in the petite or tall range which I know Next do offer sometimes, so the length of it will obviously be dependent upon your height. It is available in sizes 6 to 18, and with most Next clothing I have to go down a size, but with this it was bang on in my size, although the dress does shape oddly. I would not particularly recommend this to ladies with a larger bust, and this is because I had to go up to my normal size in this due to the fact that the zip would not close over my bust, and when I managed to get it there it was awfully uncomfortable. Although the size I purchased in does cover it safely, it does still feel a little uncomfortable as the dress is quite loose everywhere else. Apart from this though, I have no problems with it.

The best thing about this dress is its sheer versatility. I personally opt to wear it with black tights and some jewellery and either black patent flats or heels, making it a great dress for wearing to meals or perhaps even on nights out as it is so striking. At the same time, it could be styled to wear as a daytime dress which although I do not personally do, would still look lovely. Due to its conservative fit, it could also be great office wear, especially in the two other shades as it does look smart when you wear it, and with a blazer, tights and heels could look professional yet still of high fashion for the office.

The price I paid for this dress was £30, which I find fairly reasonable for Next, as some of their products can often be quite expensive. For such a versatile dress, I was happy to purchase this, and it is good enough to use again and again. I have had no problems with washing it or ironing it, and it is still in excellent condition after four months of owning it. It is still available within stores and online now (Nov. 2011), so go and check it out if you are interested.

Overall, a fashionable, gorgeous dress which I would recommend to all, however it can be quite tight on the bust area, so avoid like the plague if you are a bigger busted lady! Thanks for reading.
