Being a massive fan of Next and regularly buying my girls copious amounts of clothes from here, I have my favourites for them to wear. At the moment it is this cable knit jumper. Styles wise I think it is trendy, without being overly fashion orientated (I can't bear that on young children).
I originally bought the navy blue one (pictured) for my eldest daughter, but loved it so much that I went back and picked up the yellow one for my youngest daughter. I like to match them up without dressing them in identical clothing so this meant they were 'synchronised' shall we say!
Really soft to the touch, it is made from 60% cotton and 60% acrylic and it washes really well. It hasn't bobbled despite it being worn quite a lot. I expected it may bobble and wear slightly under the arms where the fabric rubs against itself but this hasn't been the case at all. It isn't itchy I am told, and although my eldest daughter is easy to choose clothes for and will wear pretty much anything, we are still going through the 'I'm not wearing that' with the youngest. Despite that she loves to wear this jumper, and even asked if she could wear it to school the other day... Errr No!
The design of the jumper is quite classic I think. This will literally be worn till it either has holes in or is too small! The cable knit jumpers were quite 'in' last year, which I was grateful for. We live in the highest village in Yorkshire so you could say it gets a bit chilly up where we are! The neckline isn't particularly big, but again I like this, I don't want them getting a chill on the neck. There are big buttons on the back which is a nice little touch.
The price of the jumper when we bought it at full price was £18. It is available for ages 3 - 16. Something I don't always understand with Next. Why would a 16 year old want to wear the same outfit that a 3 year old would potentially wear? Bizarre. I looked on the Next mid-season sale on Wednesday night (19th Sep) and I didn't see it on there but do keep an eye out for it online, previous season stuff sometimes pops up on the 'offers' page.
It could be paired with chinos or skinny jeans, leggings etc. It was also taken on holiday to France with us, to throw over a dress on an evening when it cools, but luckily for us the weather was so blinking hot that we didn't need any jumpers/cardis at all. It is handy though for this reason, and looks stylish with whatever it is paired with.
Well done Next.
Next navy cable sweater
We were recently in Next buying several items which would see Little Miss through spring and hopefully summer. I was instantly attracted to this navy jumper which is also available in yellow.
The jumper looks as though it is made of cotton but is in fact 60% cotton and 40% acrylic. It is very soft and according to Little Miss very comfortable to wear; she dislikes anything itchy so this is praise indeed.
There is a cable type design on the sides of the front and a sort of diamond design down the front. The sleeves are also an unusual knit pattern which makes it slightly textured rather than being perfectly fat. This design adds detail and makes it more attractive than if it had been a very plain jumper; I also think it makes the jumper look more summery. Unusually, there are large navy buttons which can be opened and which are at the back of the jumper. This again adds a bit of unusual detail to the jumper although I think a few people have been confused and have thought she had the jumper on back to front.
The jumper is available in ages 3-16 years and the price ranges from £18 to £21. We bought age 11-12 for £21 and the sizing seems right because the jumper is nice and loose fitting with the sleeves andl ength being in proportion to an 11 year olds body shape.
The jumper has been a good buy and is a useful addition to Little Miss's wardrobe. It is reasonably priced and washes in the washing machine, without going bobbly or losing its shape. It looks good with shorts and jeans and because it is nice and soft, even in this awful weather it looks warm and snuggly. I think because it goes with so many things, it will be one of those jumpers which can be taken on holiday and worn as a bit of a cover up in the evenings.
Well worth the money
