“ Brand: Next / Type: Jeans „
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with trousers in general and particularly with jeans because I have slim legs and a very narrow waist, but I have a little bit of a tummy and I am vertically challenged as they say. This makes for a very annoying trouser shopping experience because where trousers jeans fit my legs perfectly, they give me a muffin top and when I find ones that fit my tummy, they are too baggy on my legs. When I saw these high waisted numbers in Next, I thought my prayers had been answered and, it turns out, they pretty much have.
The jeans are available in four different Next ranges; Petite, Regular, long and Extra Long, which means that there is a length that will fit pretty much anyone. I went for the Petite ones which are suitable for a 27.5 inch inside leg and they fit perfectly. I am five foot three and find that normal length jeans are often too long, especially when I wear them with flat shoes which I often do. I have found that these are a brilliant length in that they do not drag along the floor when I am wearing flat shoes or trainers, but they don't look too short when I am wearing heeled shoes which is lovely and never been seen before by me!
The jeans are described as sexy high waist and although I am loathe to describe myself as sexy, I do feel very comfortable wearing the jeans and I think that the fact that they are high waisted makes them much more flattering. There are three buttons at the front and they go up to about an inch above my belly button, which means that there is no sign of a muffin top which I love. I find that they have a nice smooth shape under tight fitted tops and they do wonders for flattening my tummy down so that it looks pretty much flat under slim flitting tops. The jeans also have what they describe as a 'curved yoke and pockets to give a sexier shaped bottom'. I wouldn't even like to guess what a yoke might be, but I think the jeans to give a very nice shape at the back and it is one that I am comfortable with! The leg is nice and slim with no sign of bagginess above the knees that I often experience. The boot cut is nice at the bottom too. The flare isn't too wide, so that they just taper out a little bit rather than being huge.
The jeans are available in blue or black. I have them in blue which is a nice dark colour and I find that they are even more slimming for it. I have had the jeans a few months now and they have been washed more than a few times and they have held their colour well. I am pleased to say that they haven't faded at all. I have also found that they haven't lost their shape at all which I think shows what good quality they are. They aren't made of particularly thick material which means that they aren't super stiff when they have been washed.
The jeans are available both in store and online for £28 which I think is very good value for money considering that they have lasted well and kept their style and shape well and they are very flattering and comfortable to wear. I am planning on getting another couple of pairs in case they stop selling them anytime soon because for me, they are the perfect fit jeans. Definitely recommended.
I bought these jeans when I was in town shopping as I find with small children I am always bending down pulling on shoes and socks and generally seeing to the short people and I dread that I am flashing my pants or worse, some flesh to strangers around me. When I saw the extra bit on the waistband I thought these would be perfect.
Even more ideal for me, Next sell these jeans in regular and long leg and I always take a long leg in trousers as I am very tall (although annoyingly a lot of my height is in my body than on my legs!) for a girl. The first time I saw these jeans they didn't have the long in my size but on the next visit they did, so I decided it must be fate and bought them.
These jeans are lightly boot cut in the leg (I know skinny is more trendy but it doesn't really flatter my shape) and have two buttons at the waistband creating an extra inch or two at the top of the jeans as you wear them quite high on the waist (but not really high as that doesn't suit me either!).
I was quite surprised at the price of these jeans as they were a lot cheaper than all the others on the rails. I think I know why though as I tried them on, they fit, so I detagged them from about five labels and a sticker with some laundry advice, the sticker left behind an awful sticky mess but I wanted to wear them so I did so once before chucking them in the wash and following the advice about turning inside out, washing with darks and avoiding fabric conditioner I ironed the jeans and it was only then that I noticed how thin the denim is on these jeans. They feel really flimsy and to me denim should be slightly stiff I think. I certainly don't think they are all that flattering as the label suggests and it'd definitely debatable whether they live up to their sexy label! The waistband is slightly higher but they still slip down on me when I bend over and they don't cover up any more than normal jeans do on me so I am still hitching them up (but not by the belt loops as this is a big no-no if you want your jeans to retain their shape!).
At £28 I thought these jeans were a bit of a bargain as the rest of the styles were £45 ish and I prefered the style of these.
The sticky stuff came off in the wash luckily and whilst these jeans fit me, I was disappointed with the quality of the material. I really don't think of these as my 'best jeans' which I normally would of a new pair for a few months at least. I won't be buying any more of these and was a bit saddened that these were not better. They look OK on but not particularly smart. I don't expect to look like the model in the picture wearing them but I did hope they would be smarter than they actually are. My fault for pulling off all the labels, in hindsight I should have taken them back to store but I'm stuck with them now (and still need a pair of smart jeans for best!).
