~*~ Next Snuggle Top ~*~
I like to be comfortable when at home , and have a range of items that are house clothes , not something I would wear in the street or to the shops etc, but clothes purely for home and for comfort.
This is where this lovely snuggly top from Next comes in . I bought it for in the house , and if I remember correctly it was sold with the pyjamas and dressing gowns rather than with the jumpers.
Available in XS, S, M, L and XL and R.R.P of £20. The style in the picture is the one I have, with a funnel neck I have mink, and I know there was cream also available as I bought that colour for my Mother.
The one's that are available now in the new season range have a slightly different neck and are available in grey, cream and berry.
~*~ The Top ~*~
The top is made from 100% polyester and is so soft it feels like the softest teddy bear you could buy . I have the size S and its a good fit to a uk size 10-12 with enough room for comfort , but not too big it gets in the way.
The length is good and comes to hip length on the average person. The large kangaroo style pocket is big enough for both hands.
The funnel neck has a draw string but not for pulling just for style, the neck is gaping enough to be comfortable without being too big.
The top is light in weight so not heavy to carry but thick in cosy-ness sodoes takes up space in a wardrobe or drawer.
~*~ Wearing and Washing ~*~
The top is lovely to wear very soft and snug without being too heavy. There is a bit of bulkyness to the top which is not a problem as this is the style , but sometimes the sleeves get in the way when I have pushed them up my arm to do some cooking or wash the dishes.
I wash everything at 40 degrees and always use a separate fabric softener to the washing powder or tablets and I don't tumble dry anything. The top has held up very well still nice and soft and the colour hasn't faded at all, and despite its bulk it dries quickly even indoors on an airer.
~*~ Thoughts ~*~
A lovely top well worth the R.R.P of £20 . Perfect for the really cold weather for the warmth it gives you. I always take this with me when we visit 'up north' as being a wimpy southerner I really notice the temperature difference .
At home I tend to wear this in the Winter when it's just me in the house so I can turn the heating down / off . As the heating is on when the children are home our house does get quite warm ( good insulation ) and sometimes this top can be too warm , and with the funnel neck it sometimes makes you feel a bit stuffy.
It's a great top for wearing when you want to have a P.J day but might have to answer the door and don't want the postman/woman to see your nightwear.
After buying myself one, I bought my Mother one also , she lives on her own and her house is a lot colder than mine , to save the ever soaring energy bills she doesn't like to have the heating on all the time and uses a blanket in the evenings but found her arms would get cold , this is perfect for keeping warm and when you need to leave the room you get to keep the warmth with you unlike the blanket.
I see the new design of the top has a slightly different neckline with a cowl neck that ends with a collar effect now, I actually think this is better and would stop the stuffy feeling , but that might just be me being weird as I don't like things touching my neck and could never wear a polar neck.
Lovely top , so warm and snug I'm going to buy the new one in berry I like them so much.
5 out of 5
Central heating is like a faint memory to me... I remember it fondly, but have scarcely been acquainted with it since being back at university. As such, I generally find my house, especially of an evening time, to be pretty chilly. And I am not someone who deals well with the cold. Thus, when I saw this 'Snuggle Top' in Next, it was love at first sight...
The Snuggle Top is essentially an over-the-head jumper made purely from soft, almost fleecy material. The label claims it's 100% polyester, but think teddy bear material. It even has a front pocket to slide your hands into and keep them nice and toasty. To put it simply, this jumper feels amazing. Ridiculously soft and cosy, the first time I put it on, I never wanted to take it off. I was hugging myself in it, and rubbing my cheek onto the super soft collar. It is definitely the comfiest, warmest, loveliest thing I have ever worn.
The Snuggle Top comes in four sizes: S, M, L and XL. I am a size 14, and opted for the L size, just because I like hoodies/jumpers to be quite big and slouchy on me. I think I could have definitely opted for the M if I'd wanted to, but I like the slouchiness of the jumper I get in the size I chose. This particular design of Snuggle Top comes in two colours: Mink (pictured) and Cream. I opted for the Mink version, just because I have a bit of an aversion to whiter clothes, as I have a fear I am more likely to drop stuff down them (irrational maybe).
My biggest fear with this top was how it was going to fare in the washing machine, as I have had fleeces in the past that have gone from being a super soft to unpleasant material. Having washed this a few times at the recommended temperature of 40, and using a fair bit of fabric conditioner, I haven't noticed that much of a deterioration in the quality. I would maybe say that it's not quite as soft as when I first bought it, but I am happy that it is still lovely and soft and cuddly. Also, I don't have a tumble drier, and so I don't know if this would fare better if it was tumble dried rather than line dried... it would certainly be extra warm and cosy, that's for sure!
The Snuggle Top costs £20 from Next, which initially I had no problem paying, but have begun to notice that the stitching on the front pocket is looking a little poor, as there are a few long strands of thread poking out at various places. I don't find this overly irritating, but for £20, I would like to think that I have bought a well-made, quality item, and am a little disappointed that this has happened.
Despite this, I am still as in love with my Snuggle Top as I was on the day I first bought it. I wear it practically every day around the house, during the daytime and the night, despite it being classed as a 'Nightwear' item. Although I don't think it looks particularly flattering when it's on, it's so comfortable, I really don't care! It keeps me really warm and feels lush. I highly recommend it to ladies of all ages - you won't regret it!
