I know it seems stupid this whole brand loylalty thing but there is method to my madness. I had a pair of Nike trainers which I still wear for gardening in and the such like. They are falling to pieces, the soles are torn in half across the ball of the foot, and whats left is worn smooth. They are looking tatty. I bought a nice new pair of Nikes to replace them. What is the relevance I hear you ask? (Do I hear you ask?) Well I'll tell you anyway. The Nikes I replaced were ones I got when I was at school. I used to wear them for PE, for playing Hockey (on abrasive astroturf), for cycling in and for day to day wear. I learned to drive in them, I went to University in them and I still wear them now. They are more than six years old. I had a pair of trainers that were wearable on a daily basis for six years. They cost me £40 when I bought them. I originally replaced them with a pair of Addidas trainers which cost £50. I had these trainers for two weeks during which time I only wore them around the house. Within less than two weeks they had fallen apart. The lace loops had worn through and the stitching was coming undone. Back to the shop they went and I got a new pair of Nikes for £80. I've worn these on a near daily basis for the last six months and they still look new. Nothing is frayed or worn. I originally wanted Nikes, but I couldn't find any that were right and in my size. I will certainly replace my current trainers with Nikes (hopefully in another six years). Summary: |
