Advantages: What is sells
Disadvantages: The price
Oasis is one of those stores that takes the shopper away from her shopping 'trip' and on a journey. Part of the Arcadia Group, Oasis sits alongside stores such as Miss Selfridge, Coast and BHS.
Aimed as the prerequisite to the ladieswear store Coast, Oasis is aimed at young women and girls who have busy social lives of a varied nature, and who wish to pursue these in style. Ranging from their recent 'Little Black Dress' collection, to the camping range released just in time for the festival season, Oasis preps the young socialite for every fashion eventuality. One could obtain a large percentage of her wardrobe from here with ease.
Each collection is inspired by the latest catwalk themes, from the Winter Nautical theme with red and blue stripes, anchors and white trousers, to the new spring collection in floating florals and soft pastel shades of yellow and purple, this fashion house strives for affordable and workable fashion.
Oasis is also renound for its accessories, and has seen great success in the release of their 'Odille' collection of underwear and nightwear. Whilst the sizing, especially in the underwear is somewhat limited, the nightwear is the perfect addition to a girls night in, with matching eye masks and robes. There is also a reasonable selection of shoes, with the newest addition being the roman sandels, somewhat 'last summer', but nonetheless nice worn with cut off shorts. But by far their best accessory comes in their jewellery and handbag collections. The jewellery is perfectly matched to the colours of the in-store collections, perhaps a little obvious, but a fact overlooked by many retail outlets. The bags are good quality, stylish, durable and timeless, although their selection of tan coloured items to match the current trend for the chestnut ugg boots is rivalled by other stores.
Despite being aimed at younger people, with Party attire ranging from £40 for a silk top, to jeans for £50, this is not the average teenagers budget. Although a store which offers a 10% discount for students, this is not nearly sufficient to lure in those who have less than no money. Also, their store card has a ridiculous rate of interest, not nearly compensated by the discount offered as an incentive.
Overall, a beautiful store, with innovative and talented in-house designers, who perhaps are overreaching their target audience with their price range. One of my favourite stores.
Summary: Buy from here, if you are lucky enough to afford it
