A super cute headband from Pieces

I must confess that recently I have become severely addicted to watching the TV show Gossip Girl. I've been devouring the past series' on DVD and it is a true guilty pleasure! My favourite character has to be Blair Waldorf and I love her style, especially the cute headbands she always wears. This has inspired me to start accessorising my outfits with headbands and when I saw this one in the www.ASOS.com sale I couldn't resist buying it.

The Heidi headband is made by Danish brand Pieces, and I have a few items by them already as their designs seem to really fit in with the different looks that I like to wear. It originally cost RRP £7.00 but is now reduced down to just £2.00 which is a huge bargain.

Product description: "Alice band by Pieces. Featuring a wide tartan design with embroidered gripped panel to the interior."

I like that this headband has quite a classic and traditional looking design. It is a simple Alice band with a wide section that shows off the patterned tartan fabric. The colourway was described as "white tartan" which is a little bit off in my opinion, as it has a mainly dark teal coloured base, with charcoal, red and white patterning overlaid. The colours are quite dark so it doesn't stand out too much against my dark hair and although it has a bit of a school uniform look to it, the deep colours help it to appear a bit more grown up.

The Alice band itself has a nice wide body and slightly thinner ends. It is very flexible and moves easily so you can adjust it to put it on. It stays in place perfectly without budging as I'm moving around, which is a relief as it's annoying to have to keep re-positioning hair accessories, and this one does the job of keeping my hair tidy without moving at all. On the underside of the Alice band there is an embroidered strip of ribbon that has a slight texture to it. This helps the band to grip onto the hair it really works to keep the headband in place.

The only problem I have with the headband is that it can be a little uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. I wear glasses, and so the ends of the headband come down to meet the same part of my head where my glasses rest behind my ears. This puts added pressure on the area and it can get painful after a few hours. It's not hard to fix though, as I simply move the ends of the headband back slightly and this relieves the pressure for a while, so I can carry on wearing my cute headband without it causing too much discomfort. The headband is very lightweight so it does not weigh down or feel heavy when I'm wearing it.

I think this is a really cute accessory and at such a low price it's hard to complain about anything! It is really versatile thanks to the dark colour palette and you can mix and match it with various different styles. It can get uncomfortable when wearing it out all day, but it looks gorgeous and requires minimal effort to give my hairstyle and outfit a different twist. This was exactly what I wanted and gives me that Blair Waldorf look from season one of Gossip Girl, on a budget!
