Advantages: Affordable clothing.
Disadvantages: None .
Our nearest Sainsbury's store is only ten minutes brisk walk away from home for me and I will often pay them a visit just to have a browse around. Sainsbury's have such a good range of clothes, jewellery, handbags, lingerie and childrenswear on offer, if you keep an eye out they regularly advertise 20% off of their TU range and only recently they had a huge amount of clothing on offer with as much as 50% off, I am supposing that it was their end of season sale.
I like the way that Sainsbury's have sectioned off a part of their large store and have dedicated it to displaying their range of Tu clothing. The aisles that contain the Tu range always look attractive and the sales assistants are constantly topping the racks up to ensure that all of the sizes are available.
One very good point is that the Tu range caters for women of all shapes and sizes and I find this really helpful. There is little point in having the latest fashions if you are only going to make them available to those who are a size 10.
At the moment I am concentrating on collecting a few new winter jerseys, I was chuffed to see that Sainsbury's have a good range of soft knit jerseys that are affordable to all. The Tu jerseys range in price, some are as little as £7 and some are in excess of £20. I have bought a couple of the bargain jerseys (£7 each), the fibres are soft, the jerseys are easily laundered and they iron well.
I have only had one hiccup with a Tu jersey, earlier in the year I bought a pale pink everyday jersey which I considered would be one of those `useful` buys but I have to say that I was slightly disappointed with the way the jersey washed. Sadly the cuffs and welt went slack and this knocked the whole garment out of shape. I was foolish because I should have returned it and I am sure that Sainsbury's would have given me a full refund but I decided to write it off as the one bad experience.
I find that the Tu range is generous when it comes to sizing, I don't have to go up a size to make the garment fit. We have a changing room or you can take the goods home and try them on. If you choose to take them home then make sure that you keep the receipt in case they need to be exchanged.
Time and time again I have bought the Tu underwear for both of us, it washes well and again it is not skimpy when it comes to size.
The Tu slippers are pretty and I love the fact that the majority of them are machine washable. In the last couple of weeks I have bought two pairs of Tu pyjamas that are going to be given as Christmas gifts, the sets are prettily packaged and for £10 a pair they look exceptionally good.
I often look at the babies and children's wear but I will only buy if their Mums are with me at the time, it can be difficult to hazard a guess where size comes into it.
But I will say that the whole display of children's clothes looks fabulous, it is colourful and trendy and there are always plenty of eager young Mums browsing.
Maybe handbags and jewellery is not clothing but I feel that it is worth mentioning. Tu have a good range of everyday handbags and over the years I have bought quite a few. The costume jewellery is very reasonably priced, it looks good and it is fashionable. Only recently I managed to catch the earrings when they were on sale at half price and I bought a few pairs of very pretty earrings for next to nothing.
My latest Tu purchase was one of the thick woolly cardigans, I bought it because it is prefect to wear when the weather is neither one thing nor the other. The cardigan was £18, it is a wool mixture, it feels good and though it is casual it is tidy enough to wear anywhere. This garment has washed really well.
I think that Sainsbury's are offering the public what they want, the Tu range is popular and almost everyone that I know has bought something from their range at one time or another.
I can't comment on the quality of the Tu school uniforms that went on sale at knock down prices but I am sure there are many Dooyoo Mums who can.
Well done Sainsbury's.
Summary: Affordable clothing for the whole family.

- 06/11/09 My nearest is 26 miles away. My Mum lived near one before and I loved going there. I did not know they did clothes and all now. Great read! |
