~ Asda George School 2 Pack Short Sleeved Shirts ~
My children all attend a primary school where a uniform is not a compulsory wear, but even if it was a shirt would not be an item that is needed as they wear a simple collared polo t-shirt instead, so you may ask how and why I am reviewing these shirts. It is because my eldest son has needed to wear them on a few occasions.
The first time I bought the two pack of shirts was for my sons rugby presentation, where by all the parents went in halves for the shirts, then they were taken to be embroidered with the club logo, for this we chose the blue shirts as that was the uniform colour for the presentation nights. The second time was for my sons Christmas concert where he needed a shirt and bow tie as he was a musician playing a violin. And the third occasion I bought them was just last week, when my son needed to wear a shirt and tie as he was a 'speaker' in his year six leavers concert - Where incidently I was blubbing like a baby!
The first time, like I have said we bought them in the blue colour and this is a nice colour blue, quite pale and is the colour you would expect of blue school shirts. As the presentation was held in May we all bought the short sleeved shirts and were all more than pleased with the quality. I think the two pack of shirts cost us £5.00 so halved it was just £2.50 each, we all went for the age 9-10 size and even though some of the boys are slightly smaller or bigger, all of them looked really lovely on the night. The shirt was washed, ironed and put away ready for the tour the next month. I found that they washed incredibly well and ironing them was very easy. They are also suitable to be tumble dried .... I very nearly wrote microwaved then!
The second time I opted to buy the long sleeved shirts as it was for a Christmas concert so obviously in December, again I chose the correct size for his age and it fitted him perfectly. I do think though that my son is of average size for his age so if you think you child is bigger or smaller in size for their age, choose the size you think best.
The long sleeved is obviously different to the short sleeved due to the fact the sleeves are longer! They have nice firm cuffs that fit well around the wrist without being too tight and restrictive.
This time I opted for the short sleeve out of no other choice than them being the only style available in my sons size!
I bought them in white and of course they came in a two pack. To be honest I didn't really want to get the shirts, the costumes were left to the last minute and the concert lasted 40 minutes, it really was money I could have done without spending, especially as the secondary school he is moving up to no longer requires the children to wear shirts but now wear green polo t-shirts!
I had had a recent clear out and gotten rid of an unbelievable amount of clothes including the other shirts!
I had no other option but to buy them.
The shirts are amazing quality, they feel soft yet firm, the collar is nice and stiff and the buttons are well sewed on, with little chance of them falling off. They wash really well and my son said it felt comfortable to wear.
The shirts are priced from £3 depending on the size you buy. This time I purchased 11-12yrs and the pack cost me £5 which is excellent value for shirts. My son has since taken his to school to be written on by all his friends as he is leaving that school tomorrow *wipes eyes!* never to return again!
I do still have the other shirt however and I know it will probably never be worn.
When you buy the shirts they come in a little plastic bag, inside you fill find the two shirts all folded up and clipped together with little plastic clips, inside the collar is a stiff bit of card which needs removing before they are ready to be worn.
These shirts can be bought from Asda stores or by clicking onto www.direct.asda.com.
Thanks for reading :o) x
The last review I did about George (At Asda) School clothing was for a plain white T-shirt. This one is for a 2 pack boy's White short sleeved shirt. Any parent of Secondary School age children will be all too aware of the expense of School Uniforms. When your children are at Junior School, often the costs can be kept low by buying much of the uniform at various stores which sell general sweatshirts/shirts/skirts/trousers etc. at very cheap prices. Most Junior Schools are not strict with uniform; I mean they do not insist on having the School badge on everything!
My son is 12 and is now at Secondary School. Luckily when it comes to his School shirts at least, he is allowed to basically wear any general boys shirt (short or longed sleeved). He prefers short sleeves so I get all his School shirts at George. This shirt comes in a 2 pack and has a very wide range of ages available. It starts at age 3-4 yrs. and is available all the way up to age 15-16 yrs. Prices for the shirts vary from £3.00 up to £6.00. My son's shirt cost £5.00 for the pair.
These shirts are really easy to iron, which is great news for me because I hate nothing more than ironing!! They are machine washable and can also be put in the tumble drier. It is rare for me to put them in the tumble drier as they really do dry quite quickly if simply hung up on a hanger.
The shirts are a Polyester/Cotton blend (65% and 35% respectively). There is a boned collar to retain shape and a patch front pocket.
These shirts seem to be quite hard wearing too and I am able to get most stains out of the shirts when washing. My son is very messy, but these shirts are lasting him well.
This is a super buy from George at Asda. I would highly recommend buying these shirts and you will save yourself a lot of money (rather than paying the really high prices at the official school shops!)
Definitely worthy of 5 Dooyoo stars in my opinion.
