A couple of weeks ago whilst assembling a new winter wardrobe I spotted this short sleeved cable knit dress in new look and I just had to buy it. Knitted clothes are very much in this season and although there was a vast amount of different tops within the shop this one appealed to me the most.
Although this is called a dress, I personally wouldn't wear it like that; it barely covers the bottom area so I pretty much see it as being a top that goes best with either leggings or skinny jeans. It's available in sizes 6-16 and it costs around the £14 mark.
The top is a stone/beige in colour and is very minimalistic in design. It has some cross designs knitted into the top on the front but apart from those little details it is very much plain. As I mentioned before, the top is long enough just to cover the bottom area and the top part of the thighs. I usually favour tops like these as they are great to wear with leggings.
Unfortunately I haven't got anything nice to say about this top. It does look nice on the picture above but unless you are super skinny I don't think this top has much appeal. Firstly, due to it being a very thick fabric it's very heavy and bulky and immediately adds an extra size to your entire body. As I am a size 12 it does make me look rather chunky. Also as the top is very tight fitted it defines all the lumpy bumpy bits, a lot more than other tight fitting tops do.
Another problem is that the sleeves are folded up but it has a point in the corner, it doesn't look too big on the picture but the corner point really does stick out making your arms look a lot bigger than they actually are.
It's a shame because I do think that this top is really nice but I just feel so uncomfortable wearing it. It really does make me look and feel rather blobby. I have awarded this top a generous 3 stars just for the fact that it could look nice on somebody else but personally I wouldn't recommend it.
On a plus point, like most of new looks clothes it's easy to wash and dry and it returns to its normal shape with ease. It's a shame its normal shape couldn't be more flattering.
