These power panties are probably the least attractive item of underwear which you can have, but they do a fabulous job of keeping everything in place and giving you a smooth silhouette under clothes. They aren't cheap as the recommended retail price is £28.00 but you can get them online for less than £20 which I did last year. They come in two colours, nude and black and I chose the nude ones as I could wear these under anything and may not have been able to wear the black ones under lighter clothing. They are actually made of 85% Nylon and 15% Lycra Spandex/Elastane and come in sizes A to G which fit a wide range of shapes and sizes and are as follows: A - 4'10" - 5'5" (6.5 - 8.5 stone) B - 4'10" - 5'9" (8.5 - 10 stone) C - 4'11" - 6' (10 - 12.4 stone) D - 5' - 6' (14 - 15 stone) E - 5' -6' (14 - 18 stone) F - 5' -6' (17 - 20.5 stone) G - 5' - 6' (20.5 - 23 stone) I initially bought these Spanx to wear under a pair of cream trousers which I bought for a christening which although they looked nice they were a bit snug and I was finding it hard to find a pair of pants which you couldn't see through them. These Spanx eliminate the visible panty line and they really do smooth over your lumps and bumps to give you a smooth shape. They are soft and very stretchy as they have to be as when you first get them out they don't look even half big enough to fit you but if you have got the right size they will fit. You do have to pull and tug them a bit to put them on and at first you feel a bit trussed up but you do get used to it. They have a cotton gusset for comfort and all the seams are very flat. They look strange on their own but as soon as you put your clothes you can see that they are slimming and can make you look as if you have lost at least a few pounds. They come right up to your waist so you don't have any muffin top effect and they come down about half way down your leg which makes them ideal for wearing under trousers. They are very comfortable to wear and don't rub or chafe at all and they definitely give you more confidence in your appearance. You can't machine wash them but they are easy to wash and dry and I have found that will dry in about half an hour on the radiator. Spanx claim that 'Behind every powerful woman, there's a pair of powerful panties'.
I've been struggling with my weight since having my little one and I carry most of the weight around my belly. I am really self conscious of this as it is all wobbly and not at all attractive but as long as I am wearing something with a tight waist band to hold me in at the waist a little I don't feel too bad. I used to (up until I got my pair of spanx) basically live in either leggings or jeans these were the only clothes I felt comfy and attractive in and I would just put on a long vest or tunic then a sheer shirt or cardi. Because the weather has been amazing recently I was way too hot in leggings and jeans and I also felt self conscious because everyone else was wearing shorts, skirts and dresses.. so I decided to buy a maxi skirt. With my maxi skirt I was able to wear cropped leggings underneath to hold me in a little around my stomach but when I recently bought a new dress which was just above knee-length (very brave I know - it is the first dress I've worn in 2 and a half years that has been shorter than mid calf length!) I decided to invest in some spanx control undies because I knew how self conscious I would feel without the support and the feel of something sucking my belly in as obviously the dress has no waistband. The spanx support undies are all quite expensive which is why I had put off buying a pair for quite a while but I am glad I did. Not only does it make me feel a couple of sizes smaller but it sucks my belly in and makes it look much flatter and I don't feel like I can't breathe or anything when I am wearing them, they're very comfortable and I don't feel awkward when I'm wearing them or feel paranoid like people know I am wearing them because even when wearing a dress made from quite thin material there are no ugly outlines. I have the 'Power Panties' and I chose these ones because they not only help with tummy control but they also cover hips, bum and thighs. Not to gross the readers of this review out but I get chub rub whenever I wear skirts or dresses without shorts or leggings underneath so I did want a pair which had thigh control too so these were perfect. Not only is chub rub uncomfortable but it can also be quite sore and painful if I'm walking around for a while but these prevent that. These control pants come in two different colours - black or nude. As the dress I bought was pale blue I decided to go for the nude pair. They don't show through the material of my dress which is great. The spanx undiee come in several different sizes. I absolutely love how they organise the sizes as they do it by height and weight rather than waist and thigh measurements. I'm too lazy and if I'm honest a bit too ashamed to measure my flabby belly and thighs so I liked that I was able to do it by weight. I have the spanx power panties in size C. This size is suitable for women between 4 foot 11 and 6 foot tall and between the weight of 10 stone and 12.4 stone. These for me nicely, I always feel comfy in them and although I'm a stone lower than the maximum weight for this size they are not baggy at all. The spanx cost me £30 and they have been worth every penny. They give me heaps of confidence and make me look slimmer too, they smoothen out lumps and bumps and make my figure look much more defined. When I'm wearing them I don't worry that my belly is bouncing around or my thighs are wobbling! I have had compliments from friends and family about how I look like I've lost weight - which I haven't, I've just been wearing these! They give me the freedom to wear more of the clothes that I want, rather than feeling limited and just wearing jeans and leggings all the time. The spanx are also great quality and the material is really nice and smooth. The only disadvantage is that the spanx can only be hand washed but they don't need washing much as I wear knickers under them! They don't take long to dry after I've washed them which is good too and they haven't faded or lost their shape so far after a few washes. Recommended.
I have been on the Pill for over a year now, and my weight has rocketed, from a size 10/12 to 14/16, which I am personally not all that happy with to begin with, and buying all new wardrobe (retail therapy always works) and I didn't feel at all comfortable with the beautiful party dresses I brought, which again got me down. And as my birthday is approaching, I wanted a nice outfit, which might mean my boyfriend has to take me out! So one of my friends recommended that I should try a pair of "sucking in pants" or waist control pants, and I first came across the Spanx Power Pants. Spanx Power Panties come in a three colours, nude, black and brown, I personally brought the nude colour, just so it will look less obvious when I take off my clothes, but I will obviously take them off before my boyfriend sees them, they look very un sexy! They also come in a range of sizes (XS, S, M L, XL, XXL, XXXL) which is great, as there will be a range of sizes to fit every woman, I personally chose the medium size, which I believe fits around a size 14. First trying on the Spanx Power Pants, I thought they would be really annoying and I would constantly be pulling them down, I thought I would actually hate wearing them, I didn't know how wrong I would be! The Power Pants are really comfortable to wear, no different from other underwear, and most of the time, I didn't know I was wearing them! Also the Power Pants didn't show any visible lines, which allows you to wear it with the tightest of dresses, which is great with this party season coming up. They can be used on a range of problem areas, such as tummy, thighs and bum, which is all the problems areas I was trying to tackle, but if there others, then check the Spanx website, as they have a great range of controlling underwear. The biggest advantage of the Power Pants? They actually work. I could visibly see that the pants slimmed down my tummy, my thighs looked much more toned and tucked in. And I honestly never felt more confident in some beautiful party dresses, especially when I have my Power Pants on underneath. I now where them everywhere! Spanx Power Pants are priced differently depending on the store, but cost around £20-25, although I brought mine for £6 on a market stall, so look out for bargains. I would still recommend Spanx though, as it is a great investment.
I bought a pair of these when preparing my outfit for a special occasion. My dress was very form fitting so i wanted something that would give me some extra help my smoothing tummy and hips to provide a nice silhouette. It really does make a huge different, the Spanx really did flatten by tummy and disguise my love handles. I bought the nude pair as i thought they would go with most outfits. They fit tight but are still very comfortable, and they don't leave a visible panty line. They create a great foundation for clothes. The only problems i had was that sometimes when i sat down for a long time the waist line would roll down a bit and it was hard to pull it up when wearing an evening gown. Also, when i wanted to wear them again with another dress, i found that as the panties cover the thighs they are visible under some shorter dresses(they came down quite low on my legs). However, i definitely recommend this if you are looking for supportive underwear to give you a great shape, smooth out any love handles and smooth out your tummy. These are especially good for important events as it creates the perfect foundation or dresses.
I bought some spanx power panties when I was in the in the USA and I have to say I love them. I've tried body contour big knickers before and always found them really uncomfortable - like I was being cut in two. But the Spanx are great - very comfortable - I could wear them all day without any trouble. I bought the flesh colour ones as I though they'd go with more things. I wore them under my wedding dress which was white cotton and would have shown any lump and bulge but the spanx gave a smooth line. I felt pulled in but not squished and got lots of comments on how trim I looked. The problem I've had in the past with control underwear is the bulging overhang that can happen on the elastic bits. the spanx don't do this - they have a smooth line that doesn't dig in and because it isn't too tight you don't get the overhang. The fabric feels smooth and and slightly silky - and a breathable. My only bug bear with them is that they can hardly be considered sexy - my husband got the shock of his life on our wedding night! On future occasions whenever I wore them I sneakily removed them before any romance ensued!
After being reccommended by my sister to buy a pair of these, as she couldn't rate them highly enough, I couldn't resist and purchases some at the cost of around £25. I have used my spanx a few times now and as some of the other users agree, they are only really good for short periods of time and I will now only wear them if I am going to a really special occasion where I need to look my ultimate best - usually weddings or works do's!! Pulling them on can be quite a challenge, but once in place, are quite comfytable, and you don't have to worry about going through it everytime you go to the toilet either as they have a slit down the middle. Even so, I would reccomend only to wear these if there is not going to be a lot of sitting down, because as soon as you do, you will find that the top band rolls down and therefore digs in, creating lumps and bumps on your waistband that you didn't have in the first place! It is also rather difficult to try and get it back into place without having to get undressed again. Despite this, they do give a much smoother look to your body under clothes and suck you in perfectly, so if you are wearing a figure hugging dress, and you don't mind a bit of hassle, they are great.
I had a baby in September and wanted something to even out the lumps and bumps post pregnancy for a special do I was attending. I bought these Spanx Panties as I had read a review about how brilliant they were at smoothing out lumps and bumps and managing to look invisible too. It sounded to good to be true but I orderd them anyway. Around that time I paid £20.00 plus P&P. They arrived and I tried them on slipping a dress over the tops to gauge the invisibility of the garment and to my utter amazement I looked like I had been shaved of the middle and sides and was a whole dress size smaller! There were no bulges spilling over the top of the panties (as I had feared) and best of all nobody could tell you were wearing these as there were no lines, creases or seams showing through! I think these are miracle garments and I have ordered a second pair since and will be buying for all my new mother friends to get their confidence back - fantastic! Once you have tried these you will never want to be without them as you feel completely amazing.
Spanx came along and improved how we look, they helped us forgive ourselves for being a bit soft in places and helped us be generally more sexy. We've come a long way since the long-line girdles of our mothers, but there is still room for improvement. If you've got an event to go to that is less than 4 hours long and doesn't involve sitting and going to the restroom, then Spanx will do the trick. They are terrific for smoothing the thighs and lifting the posterior. However, they fall short when you, in your slinkiest dress, have to remove them in the restroom. I find it is impossible to get the waist in the proper position without getting completely undressed. The design is also at fault if you have to sit and stand repeatedly as the waistband rolls down, and again you may find difficulty repositioning it. The perfect control knicker has yet to be produced and so until it is, I will certainly keep my Spanx. However, I believe the manufacturers would do well to make some changes. I would suggest a trap-door for needs of nature and clasps similar to, but more discreet than, those on garter belts to attach to your bra. Until then, a cocktail dress never looked better than with a smoothly curved body underneath and Spanx can help make that happen.
On the whole Spanx Power Pants are an amazing garment, they smooth and shape your body, and are perfect under those little black dresses we are all trying to squeeze into for our Christmas parties. They aren't a miracle cure for the excess baggage, as once on they do sometimes roll a little at the edges and they do leave slight lines in places such as the thighs and waist, but they other than this they are pretty close to perfect. My only real criticism of Spanx Power Pants is their price. At £24 there are cheaper options on the market, but the quality of Spanx is pretty good and I would perhaps feel less confident in opting for cheaper brands. All in all, these are an amazing product, and I would recommed them to any woman who may be feeling a bit of post-Christmas self-consciousness. I certainly will be wearing them again!
These are perfect for a smooth line onder clingy trousers or skirts, but BEWARE - whatever gets smoothed out has to go somewhere, and if they are not a perfect fit, you may find them rolling down around the waist when you sit down. I reccomend the longer style for wearing under a skirt or trousers wityh a looser top. If you are wearing a dress, either buy a size bigger than you would expect so they are looser around the waist, or double them up with a body suit for a totally smooth line. They last brilliantly - I got my first pair a few years ago and they are still going strong with no ladders or loss of shape. Go for the flesh colour for under anything other tyhan black, and if you are planning to...get romantic... remove them beofre you even think about doing anything else! Enjoy!
I decided to get a pair of these after trying several types of 'suck it all in' pants, and being very disappointed with all of them. I'd read good things about spanx, and although initially reluctant to spend so much money on something that may not work I decided to take the risk. I purchased the ones that go from knee to bust line pretty much, not the most attractive or sexy pants I've ever bought! As they cover so much I would be wary of wearing them under jeans and a top in case the top rode up when bending over and everyone saw them, but they'd be ideal for wearing under a dress or with trousers and a long top. I put them on and was pleased at how easy they were to get on - I expected a lot of huffing and pulling to be honest! They went on and were comfortable to wear, I didn't feel too restricted or unable to breathe. They even had a handy 'gap' at the crotch to make toilet trips easier! I wore them for a night out under a dress, and got several comments on how slim/well I looked. They were comfortable all night, and didn't roll down in any way. Nor did I get any of those lumpy bits you can get under some other shapewear. I now wear them on every night out!
I love spanx, and these power panties are no exception. The great thing about the panties with the longer leg, as opposed to their shorter legged friends, is they cover the whole lumpy, bumpy area and don't give you sticky out, squidgy bits on the hips or thigh. You'll love that smooth hourglass shape and you can stick it under dresses and throusers and noone will be none the wiser. You'll feel held in and confident all night, and they're not even uncomfortable. In fact when you take them off you'll feel slightly odd, like you've lost a warm hug. A word to the wise though, if you're thinking anyone might be getting under that dress or those trousers who you might want to impress.... well bring an emergency pair of slightly more alluring pants with you and change in the loo before they get a look at them. They are anything but sexy, but they are expectionally practical.
Spanx were invented by Sara Blakely - a very pretty girl who does not look like she is in need of Spanx herself - but maybe that's because she has them on under her clothes in the photo! She was sick of visible panty lines and lumps and bumps under otherwise flattering clothes, so she literally invented a solution. Spanx have been such a success that she won Entrepreneur of the Year 2002 and Georgia's woman of the year 2005. Spanx have been featured in many magazines over the years, and are Celebrity endorsed. They have apparently been worn by (if not seen on) Oprah, Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce, Jessica Alba, Quen Latifa, Madonna, Katie Holmes, Girls Aloud (are you kidding) - the list goes on. So now you know that under those slinky looking dresses, all the celebrities are wearing suction underwear. Life is good. Spanx are so popular, that they now have a variety of products for your needs, be it body shapers, tights, camis, and even what they call 'bod-a-bing' skirts, tanks and pants (trousers to your and me in the UK). Standard colours are bare/nude, black and cocoa, and the size range is xs, s, m, l, xl, 1x, 2x, 3x. The thing I love on the website is that they show the before and after of the model wearing the product, and you really can see how it smoothes out all the lumpy bits to give the illusion of a streamlined body. The Power Panties are surprisingly comfortable to wear once you get them on, and don't ride up or down. The soft hosiery fabric slims the tummy, thighs, hips and rear. They illiminate visible panty lines, have a cotton gusset for comfort, and are perfect to wear every day under skirts and dresses. My problem areas are tummy and thighs, and they really suck everything in and flatten you out. I thought my rear looked ok without them on in a dress recently, but when you put these on you wonder what you were thinking. I would definately invest in one of their body shapers if I was wearing a particularly fitted slinky dress. You can buy the Power Panties in department stores or online for under £25. Great invention.
I absolutely love these! If your not sure whether to get a pair of these just do it! I wasn't sure at first, now I've got a pair in 3 colours! They work on all kinds of shapes too! I'm only an 8/10 but my waists 24" and my hips are 34" which Im quite conscious about because although Im skinny I have quite big hips and Spanx take about 2-3inches off and I can wear tight dresses and long tops without having to worry. I know they are not the sexiest pants in the world but the pro's really do out weigh the con's. I would stick to buying Spanx too because I bought a different make and they were rubbish, they were a lot thicker and more noticeable under clothing and they didn't take as many inches off as spanx did. I'd try these if your pear shaped or to give a curvier appearance in a figure hugging dress.
If you want to feel super-skinny, and fit into that ever so tight dress, and not have to hold everything in, then buy some Spanx Power Panties. I bought these and was slightly worried, however, when I tried them on I realized the truth. These are amazing. Not only do they make you look thin, they make you feel thin too. They're rather unsightly on their own so not a sexy look, however, they sure do produce results and hey, nobody sees them but you when you're out and about. They're the perfect undergarment, I wear them for weddings and events where I have to wear something rather slinky, or if you are wearing a fabric like silk or liquid jersey that shows up all the bumps - for this, they are ideal. I have them in all colours and also tend to buy a size smaller to make them even tighter, but that's down to preference.
