Every Christmas Eve, me & my family sit down and open a couple of specific presents. These presents are pyjamas, and we always get changed into them and then snuggle down and watch a Christmas film together. It might sound weird but it's a bit of a ritual within my family, and I suppose it stems from when I was a kid - we've just never stopped doing it! It's a really nice little ritual to have though and it really gets me in the Christmas spirit. My mum knows that I love Topshop, so she'd bought me some of their maternity pj's along with this gorgeous dressing gown. It came 'gift wrapped' by Topshop with a gorgeous red bow around it which I thought was a nice touch.
This dressing gown is so snuggly! It's like been hugged by a big furry bear when i'm wearing it and it keeps me snug as a bug even when it's absolutely freezing! I love the design of it as it's so stylish which sounds weird as it's only a dressing gown but I often have my friends or my boyfriend staying overnight so I want to look atleat half decent even in my nightie and dressing gown lol. The design is nice but quite simple so it'll suit everyone, it's a nice ivory white colour with big red stars all over it - they're on the front, back, arms etc and the design reminds me slightly of the american flag for some reason! The stars aren't a horrible, in your face shade of red and instead are a nice pale, off-shade of red with tones of very dark pink.
The dressing gown is much nicer than any I have owned before, and it has some unique detailing to it, with the first being the hood. I've never been keen on dressing gowns with hoods as i've never seen the point, however I love it! It's lovely to just stick the hood on when i'm snuggled down watching telly and it keeps my head and ears really warm and snuggly. The hood is slightly oversized so it does fall down quite easily however it makes it that bit more stylish and my boyfriend reckons I look adorable with the hood up, so I can't really fault it lol!
The dressing gown also has a V neck, this isn't very deep but it's enough to expose quite a bit of the top of my chest, which isn't an issue for me as I always wear warm pj's underneath it in the current climate, however in summer it'll be a nice feature as I often wear shorts and a vest so i'll be able to sling this on in the morning to give me some extra warmth, and it won't boil me due to the v neck - it's hard to explain but i'm sure you will know what I mean! Another of the features is the 2 pockets, they're big enough for a phone or iPod to fit into and they're really handy.
The cord/belt that comes with the dressing gown is really long which I like, as that way it can be tied up into a cute little bow lol. It is easy to take the belt off if you don't like it though. Inside the dressing gown, near the neck is a little fabric hook that you can use to hang it onto your bathroom/bedroom door, which is handy to keep it nice and out of the way of my dogs who I think would enjoy chewing this as it's got the texture of a giant, fluffy teddy!
The material of this is soft and keeps me warm while not been too heavy, it feels lovely and snug but it isn't one of those dressing gowns that when wearing it feels like you're carrying a heavy blanket around! It's 100% polyester and has a slight fluffy texture to it. It doesn't seem to pick up dog hairs or dirt like alot of my other dressing gowns did, which is good and it's easily washable too. I wash mine at 40 degress in the washing machine and it comes out almost dry! I've had no issues with the colour fading or it becoming bobbly and it is still as soft as when I first recieved it.
This dressing gown is priced at around £29 which is quite expensive but the quality and design are both brilliant so I do think it is worth it. The only down side is the way the sizing is done, the sizes available are S, M and L. My mum got me the L, and it's big enough to do up over my bump but is baggy on my arms so i'd say it's probably equivelant to a 16-18. Length wise it's almost ankle length and i'm 5'3 (and a half!).
Overall, I definetly reccomend this dressing gown. Don't let the price put you off, it's amazing!
