Subconscious Threads Mike Tyson 2.0 Tee
Disadvantages: Nothing specific
Subconscious Threads (SubCon Threads) was created back in 2005 in Staten Island, New York and has since become quite a substantial force in the underground Hip Hop clothing market. Combining popular culture, politics, Hip Hop and other things with their bold designs, they managed to get their names up relatively quickly to where they currently are.
This 'Tyson 2.0 Tee' came out alongside similar jumper tops as a follow-up to a successful Mike Tyson-inspired range from the brand. It features a screen print of Tyson in his heyday in a black and white outline with red and gold details for his gloves and championship belts. The t-shirt comes in white, grey or black and (as mentioned before) the same design was also used for some jumpers of theirs. It's a Summer 2009 design and saw a release following the popularity of their first Tyson top - hence the '2.0' in its name. The '3.0' came out later and did the t-shirt in red instead.
On my daily online browse of new clothes releases, this struck me as something special and a very much to my taste. Although I was too young to really remember Tyson's most prominent years, I'd consider myself to be a casual fan of his and so getting a t-shirt with the boxer positioned quite boldly on it appealed directly to me. I wasn't too fussed about the price and decided to jump straight into buying this item once I knew it was for me and I was glad that I had wasted so little time.
Once the top arrived I was excited with the purchase. It's bright and bold and all that came across in the images I'd seen of it. Although the black one was all that was available to me at the time, I saw it as the perfect one for me once I later found out the others in their range a few months down the line. The Brightness of the red in the gloves really contrasts well from the main black parts of the top in order to make it stand out. Of course, the gold elements to it do nothing but add to this and give it a show-off feel (which is always nice to have when you're really into a clothing item as you'll want others to think the same).
The top fits well and as long as you wouldn't consider the design itself to be over-the-top, then I'm sure that you'll be satisfied with what you get with it. As far as my black and red tops go, this is by far my favourite for obvious reasons. It stands right out as something you can't miss and something that onlookers will be intrigued by. With large screen print tops such as this you tend to find that they're quite rigid and the only way this will give is through cracking, however over nearly a year's worth of wear this hasn't been the case and it has shown no visible signs of the length of time I've possessed it. Due to all this, I can't see many having complaints with it or having issues with what it offers buyers.
==Where To Buy==
This particular tee came be found on Karmaloop, where I purchased mine, for $32 (which is about £21). I saw this to be a very reasonable price for what you get as it's a very special top and one that you'll be proud to own if you're a fan of Tyson's. I can't see any reason not to get it really unless you've got something against the fighter or don't like this in-your-face t-shirt look.
