Really cute but cheaper alternatives can be found!

I always love looking at the socks in Topshop because I love little cute patterned things, especially if they can be worn on your feet! I'm usually drawn mostly to the animal or food ones, the colours and patterns are always really cute and colourful.

I've only bought a few pairs of them ( including these hotdog ones!) as they are 3 for £8 or £3.50 for a pair which is quite expensive considering they are only socks but I usually get a few pairs in my stocking at Christmas. I had to buy Primark or stores own as they were much cheaper and I have to say some of them were more comfortable to wear. They don't last as long though which shows where the price really pays off for the Topshop because I always get holes in the back of heels (I think it's because my shoes are always to big and rub) and I find the Topshop ones are much more durable and it takes longer for the holes to appear but they do fade fast.

I have since found that Tesco do a much broader range of colourfully patterned socks and for only 2 for £1.50! My mum comes back with two new pairs for me every week at the moment as the patterns are changed so regularly. The only difference is the pattern is not followed through round the bottom of the foot like Topshop ones, which can sometimes look odd but seeing as you don't really see the bottom of your feet it's not too annoying.

As much I love the Topshop socks I have found a much cheaper alternative that lasts just as long because they are cheaper I have bought more pairs so I end up wearing them all slightly less because I now have so many socks to get through before they need to washed that they last longer (I hope that makes sense...?). They are just good and the patterns just as fun!

      Disadvantages

      Not worth the money sadly!

Recently I was in Top Shop doing a bit of shopping. Its not usually a store I go into to be honest but in Weston Super Mare we are poor on shops and so I do alot of my shopping in Asda, Tesco and the likes but quite frankly got bored of it and wanted some more unusual and funky clobber of which I found here.

I usually buy my socks in the supermarkets but these socks really did tickle my sense of humour and they had rather a few designs on offer at £3.50 a pair or any 3 pairs of ankle socks at £8.00 so I treated myself to the ones you can see at the top of this review page, hotdog crazy socks!

In a sizes 3-6 (the only size I saw these available to purchase in) they come hanging on a black card that is black with Topshop written on it and then on the back of that we are told what they are made of, the size is stated and the price is given.

To look at these are lovely looking, fun socks. Made from 73% Cotton, 26% Nylon and 1% Elastane they are soft and reasonably stretchy, a light cream in colour with colourful pictures of hotdogs all over them apart from on the heel. The pictures all appear the same and are obviously sausages in buns with mustard and ketchup on them and they sit on my ankles with a slightly stretchy band to the top of them to keep them in place which doesn't dig in or anything like that.....so comfort wise they are great.

However when you pop them on the hotdog picture kind of fades as the material gets stretched of course when your foot is inside of them so th pictures are not so vibrant. Also these are machine washable and I found after just the first wash the pictures of the hotdogs faded rather badly and the socks looked really worn. Also because my particular socks are a pale coloured cream in the main I found them to really get ingrained with dirt so they never look as good as new again no matter how hard I try to get them clean.

I like the initial design and fit of these but for £3.50 a pair I don't think they are great because of the colour fade and so can't recommend them sadly.

Only available from Top Shop or from Topshop.co.uk

        Disadvantages

        Definetly not a bargain

These socks are adorable! I bought them for £3.50 which I admit is quite expensive for just one pair of socks however because they are so comfy, cute and plus the fact they are Topshop socks I think they are worth it. There is also currently a mix and match offer on at Topshop which is 3 pairs of socks for £8 which is a pretty good deal although I personally can not justify spending that much money on just 3 pairs of socks, lol.

The socks are creamy white in colour and have cartoon hotdogs printed all over them (although not on the heel and not on the very top). The hot dogs are all identical in appearence and feature a bun, hotdog and then red and yellow lines ontop of the hotdog which is (or I assume!) mustard & ketchup ontop. The pattern is really cute and it is noticeable too. I don't wear these socks out and about and wear them with PJ's so no one really see's them apart from my family and my boyfriend and when I first showed them these socks they were all laughing like mad - these are definetly novelty type socks and I think they would be a great gift for someone. The pattern is quite unisex although I doubt a man would appreciate a pair of Topshop socks haha.

The socks are ankle length and can be rolled down aswell. They're soft and comfy although not very thick. For the price I paid I was expecting the socks to be 100% cotton but after inspecting the label they are actually made up of: 73% cotton, 26% nylon, 1% elastane. Fair enough the dominanting material is cotton but I feel a little ripped off as I assumed they were cotton but this is my own fault for not checking before I bought them and they are still nice and soft although they are definetly quite slippy on my wooden floor which is probably the nylon as alot of my nylon tops are quite silky feeling. I can definetly tell they have elastane around the top as they adjust to the shape of my leg/ankle so they're not too big or small.

The socks are machine washable and I have washed mine around 10 times now and the colour of the hot dogs is definetly fading unfortunetly however they are not bobbling yet and are still nice and comfy. Overall a cute pair of socks, however I won't be purchasing another pair as they aren't worth £3.50 in my opinion.
