Time to shop at Topshop? (Top Shop)

Advantages: Boutiquey feel and generally a pleasant place to shop.

Disadvantages: A lot of their clothes are overpriced.

This review is based on my experiences in Topshops in Glasgow.

Topshop is one of those shops that you think you ought to shop in as a girl. Everyone always goes crazy when there is the new range or a sale and you undoubtedly get dragged in by friends saying "ooo Topshop have a sale, lets go!", but is it really all it's cracked up to be?

Generally the shops themselves are quite nice to shop in. They have an almost boutiquey feel to them, yet also have clear sections for basics, jeans etc. There is plenty of room for manoeuvring between displays and although the shops are normally quite busy, they never seem to be crowded, unless there is a sale that is! When there is a sale it seems that Topshop becomes a war zone. The sale lines are displayed in order of price, with similar items together; however this does not last long as bargain hungry shoppers seem to pick clothes up and simply drop them anywhere.

My experiences of Topshop sales are marred by having the item I reached for snatched away before I can get a look in. However, in my humble opinion, the clothes are usually overpriced, both non-sale and often in the sale. I generally prefer to browse the sale items on the Topshop website to avoid the crowds.

As for the clothes themselves well, the ranges are generally aimed at the same bunch of people, there's little variety! I am petite and so I used to go to Topshop for their petite range, but now I'm more likely to go to Dorothy Perkins which, as another of the Arcadia group, is bound to have the same supplier and yet somehow manage to price their basics, such as jeans, much more reasonably.

Having said all that if I was looking for an outfit for a specific reason or I was looking to buy something that wasn't a basic, then I would be tempted by the Topshop charm.

Summary: Good for a girly shopping trip, overpriced on the basics.
