Advantages: Versatile, fashionable, great colours
Disadvantages: Thin material, pricey
Around 70% of my wardrobe is Topshop it's my favourite high street shop and despite being somewhat on the expensive side, in my opinion, I still love to splurge my wages on the New Arrivals section on the website and in store. One of my latest buys is the scallop vest.
Scallop vests are all over the high street at the minute and are showing up in various other stores such as River Island and Miss Selfridge. I've had my vest for around 2 months now after purchasing it for £15; I opted for an orange one called 'orange sorbet'.
The material is 100% polyester and is very, very thin almost like paper thin. The thickness of the material affects the appearance of the top when it is worn as it appears quite see-through so dark underwear would not look good with this top. If your prudish about transparent clothing I definitely wouldn't opt for this top. Despite the thinness of the top it is quite stretchy so I very much doubt it would tear easily. Due to the stretchiness I purchased this top in a size 6 as I am usually a 6-8 but I like how fitted the top looks when worn and a size 6 fits perfectly.
The top is described as a vest. The straps are quite then but not quite spaghetti straps. The vest comes to my waist so it is quite short but not crop style. The edge of the vest is perforated with a wavy edge which is why it is described as 'scalloped'.
As I have said, my top is 'sorbet orange' but the top is also available in black, blue, pink, yellow, white and green. Given that the top is plain it is great to patterned trousers or over the top of a bodycon skirt. The versatility of this top is a big advantage for me as it really will go with anything and you can wear it during the day with a pair of jeans or at night dressed up with jewellery.
The top was £15, for a basic vest this is quite expensive but I have worn it 3-4 times in 2 months and will continue to do so especially with it getting warmer in the past few weeks. The vest is in fashion right now so £15 is quite a small price to pay for an on-trend, versatile vest and it definitely comes recommended from me.
Summary: A basic yet fashionable vest from Topshop
